A quaint cottage. Well equipped with everything you need. The beds and furniture are unfortunately well past their useful time and we found them very uncomfortable. The location is great, the hosts are great and if they replace the beds and furniture I’d rate it 5.

Thank you for this information - this is the first time we had had this feedback. So we have subsequently invested in upgrades
Really good place. Clean. Good location. Enough beds. A awesome selection of cutlery, good sized bowls and glasses. Shower great. For us next time we’ll probably look to pay a bit more somewhere else and have a dryer, internet, linen & towels. That’s only our preference as it was really good overall.
Magic property in a magic location. Sue is so helpful. We had the most wonderful time (Ages 7-70!). We’ll definately be looking to visit again in the future.
Great location, plenty of room, good shower pressure, great fridge, plenty of bedding options, lots of light and sun, walking distance to cafe, pub, coffee, dairy etc. Easy into town drive, walk to lakefront, private. Tight turnaround in drive for bigger car.

Guests are most welcome to turn around (and park if travelling with 2 cars) on the lawn - the pumice base in Taupo means it never gets soggy.
We all had an excellent holiday, and the cottage was perfect! It had everything we needed, was on a quiet street, and had a beaut view of the lake! Our friends live on the same street, so the kids spent a lot of their free time roaming between the houses.
We would absolutely stay in this cottage again! Thanks so much 😀
This property had everything we needed. 5 minute walk to the lake. 10 minute drive into town. Wonderfully relaxing and comfortable. Very well equipped kitchen. Beautiful garden. Thanks

We're so glad you had a lovely time, and thanks for letting us know about the fridge - We've just organised for a brand new one to go in immediately - we know how important a great fridge is for all our summer guests so we really appreciate the heads up.
Hilltop Cottage was perfect for our needs. It was a few blocks from our family's home and we enjoyed the spaces, both indoors and outdoors. Sue was very easy to communicate with. The house is funky and colourful, the decor eclectic. Both bedrooms with queen beds are very comfortable, with good curtains to allow for sleeping in. Views over Lake Taupo are gorgeous.❤

It was an absolute pleasure to host Felicity, they looked after Hilltop Cottage beautifully and were super friendly. We hope you are enjoying the rest of your stay in NZ, and wish you both a safe trip home.
Plenty of room, but the bathroom fan not very effective so even with the window open as well the walls and floor got very wet. Having. There was no internet or sky and having to get rid of our own rubbish was not ideal.

ok a few things need addressing like inadequate utensils. Bit dated needs wifi and more comfortable mattresses.
We had a great stay at the Hilltop Cottage, its a quirky spacious house with plenty of room for our family and had everything we needed. Plenty of room for the kids to play outside, a kids bedroom with toys and books galore to keep young ones entertained. Plenty of off street parking, it was tidy and just a really cool place to stay. Thank you for having us

The bach is clean and well equipped.
The bach is clean and well equipped. It is especially well set up for children with lots of books and toys and a safe outdoor play area. The evening view over Lake Taupo from the deck was especially enjoyable.
This was a very great place to come put your feet up and relax. Had amazing views and very central to everything we wanted to do. thank-you very much for your lovely batch to stay in. I would definitely recommend and would love to one day come back cheers :)
Lovely views from this comfortable old-school bach.
The house proved to be nice and warm with all the heaters on but it would have been good to have the convenience of a heat pump over the gas fire especially if you have young kids. (Obviously not an issue in summer.) Great communication from the owner and they were kind enough to give us a late check out. There is a dairy and lovely restaurant nearby which we appreciated. The house is in a good location for the lake in summer. Just a note for those with bikes, there is no access to the garage or secure lock up. Overall, the house worked well for our stay with 4 adults and 3 kids. Thanks.
