About this property
Lovely Beach Bach Retreat
Magnolia Hideaway is set at the back of a large fully fenced section. Morning sun streams through the bedroom windows and moves across the front of the house during the day. The large magnolia tree provides ample shade.
Kuaotunu is pretty much centre of both Whitianga and Coromandel townships making it the ideal position for exploring the Coromandel Peninsula.
Otama Beach (our personal favourite) is only about 5minutes drive from the Kuaotunu Settlement road and further on is Opitio Bay. These are great alternatives to Kuaotunu Beach if there are on shore winds.
The boat ramp is just 300 metres up the road on the left. You can be fishing 3-5 minutes from launching or you can head over to Mercury Island, easily visible from the ramp. Kennedy Bay is also a great fishing spot.
The kayaks are yours to use, but please, bring your own life jackets or request a couple to be left for your use. The heavy duty plastic kayaks must be carried across the road to avoid damage.
Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach should be on your 'to do' list, however, they can be very busy, so early or late in the day would be best, though check the tides for Hot Water Beach if you want to dig for the hot water.
To the north (towards Coromandel Town) are Matarangi and Whangapoua Beaches. New Chums (a walk from Whangapoua Beach) has been rated as one of the top beaches in the world.
Coromandel Town is worth a visit too. Quite different from Whitianga. It's a fishing town. The beaches aren't as pretty as this side, but the views are gorgeous and there are some great cafes and restaurants. Check out the Driving Creek Railway for a trip up through the native bush or if fishing is your thing, this is a great place to go on a fishing charter.
Whitianga is the main shopping centre on the Peninsula so stock up on groceries and check out the many cafes and restaurants.
This is a gorgeous place to relax and taking in the beauty of this lovely piece of paradise. Enjoy!

About the host
Hosted by EricandSandyG

My husband was born on the farm we purchased and from which we now own/operate Combat & Fun Zone. Our two, now adult, children were born and went to school here and are now raising their families just up the road from the farm. Joan Gaskell Drive, the main road into Whitianga, is named after Eric's Mum. She was a well known identity in the area.
Why they chose this property
We decided that one day we might retire out to Kuaotunu Beach. It's a great spot for fishing and you can be fishing from the boat just a few minutes after launching. The day we came across this property the sun was shining so brightly, the house looked a picture. We popped over to the beach and the sand was gleaming white in the bright sunlight. I was sold! Magnolia Hideaway has the added benefit of being just 25 minutes away from our farm, which is handy if we need a night away from where we live/work. It's difficult to go too far with so many animals to take care of and we can duck back a forth in no time.
