About this property

Well-equipped, spacious classic kiwi bach across from beach

Bring friends or family to stay in this 3 bedroom, 2 storey classic beachfront kiwi bach that's just a few minutes walk from the water's edge. It's well-equipped with all you need for a fantastic holiday, and there's a playground over the road which also has a half basketball court - perfect for shooting hoops. There's plenty of room for larger groups and it's cosy enough for smaller groups too. Hokio Beach is a really special place - quiet and laid back, perfect for a relaxing holiday.

Fill your days with swimming, fishing, gathering tuatua, whitebaiting when in season, and kayaking or playing table tennis, cricket, petanque, or 'pitch-n-putt' golf on the lawn or shooting hoops at the park (all equipment and balls supplied) - or simply explore with beach and bush walks. Alternately, relax on the deck and soak up the sun and peace and quiet. In the evenings, crank up the BBQ while playing darts or indoor bowls, and enjoy the sunset.

For the colder months, there's a wood burner in the living area (firewood is supplied) - and oil heaters in each of the bedrooms, and in the living area also.

Explore the fantastic Horowhenua region including the Papaitonga Scenic Reserve, Tararua Forest Park and other walking and tramping tracks, other nearby beaches, and the local golf course which is just down the road. The closest town, Levin, is less than 10 minutes away and has restaurants, pubs, cinema complex, aquatic centre, and Adventure Park - a fantastic playground for all ages. Make sure you also check out the Otaki outlet stores for a holiday bargain. There are even a few wineries in the region which are open daily.

The beach house has a fully equipped kitchen. Also available for use are a gazebo, tennis rackets, books, DVDs, cards, and board games, as well as freeview and a few SKY TV channels (or bring your own SKY card for more).

Hokio Beach is a really special place - it's like stepping back in time to when things were easy and slow-paced - and Hokio Beachfront Bach is the perfect place to enjoy it in. We look forward to hearing from you!

The stay was 9 mins drive from Levin and suited our needs for the sports tournament we were at. The owner was very hospitable and Place was very clean and ideal for our visit.

We had such a wonderful time and Helen and Chris were the best hosts. The spot is perfect - ocean view and lovely walk to the beach - which is amazing. Helen and Chris went above and beyond to welcome us. Highly recommend and would love to come back.

We had a great weekend at this rustic, cozy bach. It has everything you need for a fun family weekend. The only thing I would reccomend is bring fly spray, there were millions of mosquito's. We would love to stay at beautiful Hokio Beach again.

Excellent weekend away

Easy to find and the host was speedy with communication. We could bring our dog which was awesome and the beach was just a short stroll away. The weather wasn't kind but there were plenty of games and things to do. Would love to come back in the summer.

Perfect fit

We had 2 families that was made up of 4 adults and kids ranging 0-10. It was perfect, the location was amazing and the room layout worked very well for the kids and their sleeping. Such a lovely serene village Hokio is and we are so happy we got to experience the quiet simplicity of it. Helen was fantastic and the bach is so well equipped we definitely overpacked as she has everything we needed. We loved it and will definitely be back.

Old school kiwi bach

Great Bach with everything you need for a relaxing stay at the beach. Clean and tidy with loads of dvds, board games and table tennis. Lovely fireplace and outdoor fire pit for marshmallow roasting. Dog friendly with a tiled room to keep pooches when they come back wet from the beach. Easy, quick response to communication. Loved it, thanks for having us to stay!
