Absolutely stunning property
Absolutely stunning property. Grand but not pretentious. Views forever!
We loved everything about this huge amazing homely lodge, with beaut nature & stunning scenery all around us 😁. Super host Daniel, thanks again, God bless 🙏💖
Beautiful outlook. A very well resourced, large house. The two fridges were a great help. Family really enjoyed the covered outside eating area with great views and the pizza oven.
We spent three nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Whangateau Lodge is absolutely beautiful, has the most amazing views and is an ideal place to stay for families with children or if you just wanted to chill which we did.
Would highly recommend and definitely stay again.
Thankyou Daniel
Big group of friends enjoyed our stay here over New Years. Far enough away from everything to be peaceful but close enough for those who need to grab a coffee or check out a market. Daniel was awesome to deal with from start to end and the house has everything one could need. Awesome games room too!
Whangateau Lodge in Leigh surpassed our expectations with its charm and beautiful views. Despite visiting in winter, the lodge provided ample space to spread out and relax. The dining spaces and wonderful kitchen are perfect for a large group, while the fireplace and lounge were a fantastic place to come together at the end of a day. We cannot forget to mention the gorgeous views! We highly recommend this lodge for anyone looking for a getaway in Leigh.
Such a great stay. 10 of us stayed here and enjoyed every second of it. Great for large families and toddlers. Very comfortable and well equipped. Could not have asked for anything more. The big fireplace kept us all warm while a storm was passing over us. Daniel was a great host and was very helpful. Look forward to booking again in the near future.
We rented this place as we had a wedding on the same street - and it turned out to be perfect. It was a huge, house - with spectacular view towards Omaha. It had multiple living area's which made it perfect for a large group. We would love to go back there again - for another family event - it was perfect. Thanks so much Dan for your kindness and great communication throughout. We loved it.

Overall pretty happy, however small details let me down: incomplete board games for kids (no dice for example); few roaches; a stained sheet on one of the single beds, no lights in one bathroom (and owner told me they don't check every light before guests check in); 3 of us had cold showers for three days. Daniel did his best to sort this out himself, which is appreciated, but still an expensive place like this should at least ensure a hot shower in the morning.

Great house but in need of repair and updating.
We had a family holiday here for 3 nights, and sadly we wouldn't be recommending the property in its current state.Firstly the positives - the lodge is big, and there is plenty of room for large groups and families to enjoy. The dining room and living room are central and we had the open fire going each night which was lovely. There is a games room set up in the garage with table tennis and fusbal which got a good workout.Unfortunately the weather was against us over the 3 days and due to the very high position on the hill it felt like we were staying in the clouds the whole time. We could barely see out the windows to enjoy the view, and we would assume its like this when cloudy, rainy etc.Because of the extreme dampness, the house has a considerable mould issue which you can small straight away. There was mould on a few of the internal walls and most of us left the house coughing after 3 nights. There is also a mouse issue - seen many times and we had to move the kids around as they were particularly bad in the lower rooms. The carpets need replacing, the kitchen and pantry was quite dirty with small bush cockroaches around, and the dishwasher wasn't working - for a large group it made cleaning up a bit tricky. The tv has limited apps, and you can't add more. The Sky Sport app come up with a notification the device is not supported anymore. The lodge could be great, if cleaned properly and repaired. Hopefully the owners can put some TLC into it.
Great view! Great house for a large group of people.
We adults and kids had lots of fun during the stay. The house is located a little far from shops, and need to drive a bit on gravel road, but I guess you only get such superb view if the house is in the middle of nowhere 😜 I would say everything has been great except the shower water temperature is not so great, either super hot or super cold, nothing in between. Anyway the house is fully equipped with everything you need during the stay, so its’s a pretty great experience 👍
If you'd like space and quiet to unwind with family or friends then I can highly recommend the lodge. Daniel ( our host ) was most accomodating and made the process super easy. I would go back in a heartbeat. Particularly loved the birdlife.
This property is incredible! The house itself is beautiful and clean and the views are stunning. The drive was a little bit of a work out for our car but aside from that everything was perfect. The communication from the owner was fantastic and always very helpful. We loved stay there and would stay again 😌
We really enjoyed our time at the lodge, having plenty of space for a large group and making yummy pizza in the outdoor pizza oven. Everything was clean, tidy and well stocked. Beautiful location and views!
As many before have said the pictures do not do this property justice. Well maintained nd presented with everything you could need provided. Used the pizza oven every day for roasts, curries as well as the garlic pizza starters and pizza deserts. Mike was a joy to deal with - always prompt and helpful.
Perfect place to stay (also with children). The house is so spacious, clean, and cozy, not too far away from beaches, shops, bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc. Super! We loved our “pizza making” evenings. The house has its very own pizza oven, where we enjoyed a few nights. The views are amazing! Daniel is a very friendly and helpful owner. (Thank you for everything). Such a great stay with family and friends. Thank you and will definitely be staying again!
A brilliant place to stay - a group of 6 couples, all with a double room each.
We had a fantastic weekend in all, Whangateau Lodge was the perfect base for us with plenty of space to "get-away" from the group if wanted.
Daniel had great suggestions of things to do in the area and was really helpful throughout the process.
We used the spa pool everyday and the pizza oven was great for the men's cooking challenge - a pizza dinner including making the dough for bases.
We did see one peacock which was cool, but there was "evidence" of their presence, which did catch a couple of bare feet off-guard.
Fantastic - highly recommended.
