Enjoyable stay at Casa Cassis
Enjoyed our stay at Casa Cassis immensely.
Correspondence prior to our visit was exceptional and we appreciated the information provided before our arrival.
We found the house was mostly as presented on the website. There were a few anomalies. The air conditioning did not work in the main bedroom and the heavy, salty atmosphere has affected much of the outdoor furniture (many of our swimmers and sarongs were rust stained before we realised this) and some of the doors particularly the main bedroom door needs attention. One cannot close it properly for privacy. The bathroom in the main house is in a small cupboard and our guest using it for her bathroom found it to be quite claustrophobic. She had to keep the door open to shower. The bar b que is 'island' style and considering the exposure to salt water does need to be upgraded to steel so that one can cook on it properly. Sticks were supplied to hold up the plate but as it is a wood fired bar b que they were not particularly suitable. We made do with these few things and were open to all as we found it. The pool and surrounding relaxation areas outside under the pandanas trees were well used by and enjoyed by all in our small party when we were at the house. You can access the reef for snorkeling straight off the little private beach which was a delight. One just has to take care on the coral shelf before entering the reef.
We used the house as a base for nine days and travelled all over the island. We feel one needs a vehicle for ease of access to the house because Devil's Point Road is dirt, potholed and a good 25 minutes from Port Vila. This did not deter us and we drove all over the island with ease while staying at this house. The house keeper Melanie was on site for assistance which we appreciated. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
