17a Princes Street is located in the heart of our vibrant Fitzroy Village. You will find beautiful boutique shops, cafes, bars, restaurant, bank, supermarket and more.

Fitzroy has one of the best surf breaks and beaches in Taranaki. Stroll along the black sand and take a dip or walk along the walkway and discover the beauty of the west coast.

5 min drive or 20 min walk to CBD and check out Pukariki Museum, Govett Brewster Art Gallery, Bowl of Brooklands or the Popular Pukekura Park.

5 min drive to Valley Shopping Centre - where you will find all your shopping needs. Mitre 10 Mega, Countdown, Rebel Sport, Briscoes and more chain stores.

Your holiday stay will be in the bottom apartment unit. This beautiful warm unit has modern furnishings and luxury linen. It also has sole access to the sunny
relaxing back yard and barbecue area.
Sleeps up to ten people.
Master Bedroom has a queen bed (the single trundle bed can be put in this room if required.)
Second bedroom has a queen bed and single bed (trundle bed under it.)
Third bedroom has 2x long single beds.
The lounge has a pull out couch.
On the cooler days, relax around the cosy wood burner - read a book, watch sky sport or play a board game.

The perfect place

I have stayed here before and came back for a family wedding. The host is great - friendly and communicates well. There is plenty of space, good facilities and excellent instructions. We felt it was a haven during the busy family occasion.

Spacious, clean, comfortable house

We enjoyed being able to walk to Fitzroy and the beachfront. The house was clean, very spacious, well equipped and easy to relax in. We appreciated the sheltered sunny outdoor area and seating. The host was welcoming and great to communicate with, thank you.

Ideal house for a weekend away

A Light and breezy apartment that looks out on the garden. The outdoor table was an ideal spot for gathering late in the afternoon. Open plan kitchen / dining/ lounge area comfortable and welcoming. The house is well supplied with all the basic kitchen equipment.

We had a great stay at Fitzroy. The house was everything we needed . Good parking . The beach at the end of the road ,along with shops and takeaway close by . It was private and quiet .

Funky Fitzroy stay

Love this place for its funky decor and homely touches. So close to the coastal pathway and we loved our walks into city. Would recommend as a great home away from home!

Great spot

This is a spacious, well appointed downstairs unit in Fitzroy. Really handy to local shops and close to the beach and golf course. Great comms from the manager.

Fitzroy Hideaway

Great dog friendly property. Comfortable bed, fantastic shower with fab pressure! Plenty of firewood for the fire, just had to buy kindling. Access to main door was not close to car, not ideal if its raining on arrival or departure. Clean and tidy. Location was quiet and handy to CBD. Appreciate that we could bring our dog on holiday.

Amazing spot

I can’t rate this property highly enough. My partner, 2 yr old and small dog needed somewhere central to stay during our visit to Taranaki. Not only did we find that but the property was incredibly clean, spacious and light. But it was the small details like the fluffiest towels (& plenty of them), comfortable beds & linen), hallway storage full of games and toys, child’s playhouse, 2 bathrooms, clothes drying rack, plenty of kitchen utensils etc… Communication was also really prompt especially when I had questions. Thank you so much we had a great time exclamation exploring Taranaki and it was so nice to come home to relax at different parts of the day.

Ideal accommodation

This accommodation was perfect for our group. The bedrooms were a great size and had everything we needed. Bathroom was lovely and the water pressure was excellent. Having a separate toilet was also useful. Being fully fenced meant our puppies could run around outside to their hearts content. Looking forward to staying here again!!

Great place for a family holiday!

Very clean property. Well presented with excellent location and amenities. Very private. Sandra is an excellent hostess. The pikelets and jam upon arrival were a nice touch and much appreciated. Beds were comfortable and property had everything we needed. Only complaint is the tenants upstairs who stomped around at all hours, had loud conversations late at night. We were careful not to disturb them but it wasn’t reciprocated unfortunately.

Hi My name is Sandra Hunger. I am happily married and have 3 children. I grew up from around the coast in Opunake. I moved to New Plymouth when I was 17 to start my nursing career. I worked in New Zealand for about 5 years before I went tripping around the world with my boyfriend at the time (Bryce) on our working holiday through Canada, America and South America. Then over to England where we based ourselves and tripped around Europe. We eventually came back to New Zealand and settled in New Plymouth to get married and raise a family.

Fitzroy Beach Retreat is a fabulous spot to have a holiday. It is spacious inside and outside - great for larger groups but also lovely and homely for couples also. Outside is a covered patio area where you can sit down and relax. The property is great for bringing your dog as the property is fenced and also has the bonus of a huge field out the back.
A cosy wood burner is great to sit around on those cold nights.
Property can sleep up to 10 people.
3 Bedrooms.
Sky and Sky sport.
Close to the beach and walkway.
Close to shop (5minute walk to Fitzroy Shops)
