About Rob Rose
I am a Fort Lauderdale native with deep roots in eastern North Carolina. Real estate is my career, and home renovations are my passion. I am a collector of houses, cars, boats, bikes, art and lots of other things and I enjoy working on them hands on. Top of the Hill is one of three vacation homes I own with others in Beaufort NC and Fort Lauderdale, Fl. Throughout each of them are found things that reflect my interests in design, art, gardens, antique cars, model planes, architecture, cooking, history, vintage English bikes and sailing dinghy’s, entertaining and just living well. I move from house to house, working on them, sort of curating them, and enjoying the unique aspects of each.
Rob Rose purchased this house in 2006
Why Rob Rose chose Southern Pines
This is a special house offering a great experience to guests simply not found in other vacation rental offerings in the area. Guests tell me what a great feeling the house has, what a good vibe. Of course, I am biased! This house has a personality. I obviously love Top of The Hill, its location in the Sandhills, and I love Southern Pines, which gets more attractive year to year. . I saw that when I bought it over a decade ago and set to its restoration. When I travel and book vacation homes, part of what I love is the experience of enjoying someone’s personally created environment. I avoid places without personality, which this house offers in spades.
What makes this house unique
I think the best thing about this house is its peacefulness. Its’ relaxing, restful, comfortable, fun, witty, and a bit magical. It sorts of unfolds to its guests as the light changes and observations are made. I find that Southern Pines is like that; if you just slow down and pay attention, magic happens. What more can you ask of a house?
