About Ann Jarrett

My husband and I are both educators. We enjoy vacationing with our grown children and extended family.

Ann Jarrett purchased this house in 1998

Why Ann Jarrett chose Waynesville

This is the home I grew up in. In 2008 we took a family trip with our grown children and stayed in a vacation rental home. We enjoyed cooking together and relaxing in a home. We thought this home would be great for families coming to Fort Leonard Wood for graduations and to visit family.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

Great stay, with plenty of room for everyone. It was close enough to the base, our graduate was able to spend the evening with us in a nice calm environment. Clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. Thanks for a great stay!

Plenty of room!!

  • 4 of 5

This is a large house with plenty of room for family to spread out. It worked well for our family. Only have it 4 stars because of the lower room being freezing cold which rendered it unusable for us. Overall, great property!

Perfect space to visit with our soldier. We were fortunate enough to get 5 days with him due to a 4 day weekend. We picked him up and returned him daily, close to the base, easy route. So much room and everything we needed. Don’t count on the internet but I wasn’t there to be on my phone, so didn’t really matter. Nice furniture comfortable beds. Plenty of towels and a few things to get you started before you have a chance to go Shopping . Will book again if we are given the opportunity.

Way better than a hotel for large family

  • 4 of 5

This ended up being a great decision for 7 of us to enjoy. It is very close to the FLW base. It definitely could hold more people if needed. I wish our soldier would have graduated in warmer weather because the outdoor space was exceptionally nice looking for a barbecue and gathering. This place is not new or updated but very comfortable, newer living room furniture than pictured was very comfortable as well. There were so many towels we could have stayed for a week and not needed to wash. My suggestions for winter renters... shut all bedroom vents except for the master, the heat accumulates upstairs and gets unbearably hot, leaving the main floor chilly, but once we did that we were fine. Stagger your showers... hot water is good for about 4 or 5 short showers at a time. Kitchen is extremely well stocked, however, as with all rentals the non stick frying pans are peeling and unusable. The only solution is to bring a pan or two it is impractical to expect an owner to replace those every time someone ruins one they are so easy to ruin. Your car is likely to scrape bottom going up the steep driveway so beware. I do not plan on ever returning to FLW, but if I did I would stay here again.

The area is a very small town. Colton's steak house gets good reviews, but trust me if you are any kind of a foodie or steak connoisseur you will not like it. Ichiban on the other hand was good, sushi and hibachi were both very good. We had TK's pizza as well, the pizzas were decent sized and well priced... this gets the best pizza reviews as well but I thought it was just good but not great. Might be best to cook as much as you can here. There is a very nice grocery with Starbucks and liquor store less than a mile away, it is a little pricier than in my hometown.

There are some decent antique stores a short distance away as well, some underpriced items but nothing I wanted, that's really all we did here as most of out time was spent doing graduation things. The day before they have a family briefing at 10am then release the soldiers out on pass until 7pm, bring them back early trust me it is easy to get lost on base. Get to the base at least one and a half hours ahead of graduation time there could be a 2 mile long line getting onto base as well as parking issues. Trust me, you want a good seat, there will be hundreds of people standing in the back. They put on a nice show for you not to be missed.

Great location, quiet neighborhood, house in need of repairs.

  • 3 of 5

Four nice bedrooms. Living room. And backyard very nice. Internet is extremely slow and no HD channels or movie channels. Rodent droppings in various areas throughout the house. Cracks in ceiling and walls. Musty smell. Owner is extremely kind.

Comfortable and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is huge and well stocked. So many amenities! Wish we could have stayed longer. The owners are friendly and are quick to respond. Our new soldier grandson enjoyed it, too! Thank you for sharing your lovely home! We will stay here again if opportunity provides.
