Another great stay!

This was our second time to stay at the house in Rye. It was clean and well stocked with the essentials. The host is friendly and quick to respond. My wife and I loved having our morning coffee on the wrap around porch. This home met all of our needs for the trip. We would definitely stay here again.

Felt like home

We were in Rye for a quick, unexpected visit, and this house was above and beyond our expectations. The house was immaculately clean, very well stocked, and the owner’s communication was exceptional. The charm and character of the house were a comforting retreat to come home to after a busy day. The only thing I’d suggest to the owners is to have a few more throw blankets to snuggle under while watching a movie.

Horrific deodorizer very crowded.

The smell was terrible (overwhelming perfumed plug-ins). There were occupied apartments connected above and the garage was also converted to an apartment, all of the apartments were connected to the rental. Strict instructions to never touch the thermostat because it controlled all of apartments’ heating. We stayed somewhere else. If the apartments were disclosed when we inquired about the rental we would have gone somewhere else.

If you suffer from vertigo or travel with a service animal avoid.

VRBO There were so many issues at this rental that we left one night early and let the owner know. It would be nice if we could get one night back since we were out and notified the owner before checkout on Thursday. From the beginning of booking, it was not disclosed until after everything was not refundable that we would have to purchase a $99 insurance policy for the rental and having to print out and sign a rental agreement. When we arrived at the house, it was not as advertised. The oven doors come open while you’re trying to cook your food. When we turned one of the ovens on to preheat it, it started smoking and when we tried to use the vent hood for ventilation, it was broken. There was no ice as the ice maker did not work and there was no ice provided in the freezer in a town without even a convenience store. Lamps everywhere throughout the rental wouldn’t work. The back door was so creaky that it woke everyone in the house up when you went to let the dog out in the mornings. The house is also so unlevel that everyone in the house experienced dizziness in many parts of the home. The beds were so hard that none of us got a good night’s rest. There was a stain in the master bedroom carpet when we arrived. The upstairs neighbor was up at all hours of the night doing who knows what making a huge racket so loud it woke all of us up. It was very suspicious behavior and we questioned if he was making illegal substances up there in the night given all his unloading of jugs of things all through the night and going in and out of the upstairs apartment repeatedly in an abnormal fashion that puzzled all three people in our party. We were accused by the host of leaving our dogs unattended for hours and getting complaints about barking. This is a bold faced lie. We have proof via time and date stamped pictures that we took our dogs everywhere with us with the exception of about 20 minutes when we walked to the cafe to get lunch. Upon our return we received the accusatory message from the owner and discovered that someone had thrown a water bottle into the backyard at our dogs. One of these is a service animal for a disability. If he is abused by having things thrown at him, it could hinder his ability to perform his duties and could result in him having to be retired as a service animal, which would be extremely costly and unfortunate. The reason the service animal was left during that brief time was because of aggressive loose dogs.

Beautiful home perfect for large families

We greatly enjoyed our stay over the weekend of our daughter's wedding at Brush Canyon Ranch. It was the perfect location from the wedding venue. We had 5 people stay very comfortably. The master br had an excellent firm mattress. The huge kitchen was equipped with all state of the art appliances and two sinks with food disposers. The large wraparound porch was perfect for guests that dropped by the day after the wedding and we could all visit socially and never felt crowded. The only things that would have made our stay better would have been air conditioning, as it did get warm inside during our late August stay when outside temps were around 90. There are ceiling fans in almost every room however, as well as extra floor fans we were able to use. The bathrooms also lacked an exhaust fan, which caused them to steam up and warm up during our stay. But those were very minor issues and would not affect our decision to lease this home again or recommend it to others. Communication with seller was excellent and very timely. Overall, we loved our stay in this older, beautifully decorated and renovated home!!

Our family is so excited to be part of this beautiful community in Rye and rent this amazing house full of local history. We love to load up in our RV, pick a direction, and find the history in our travels. Our kids are now both off to college making their own history and renting this amazing house out for you to enjoy is a great next adventure for us.

Why they chose this property

We love the history of this house. It was built in the 1920's as The Wilson Hotel. It was used in the 50's as a medical treatment center for people with tuberculosis - the high altitude and cool air was a great fit to help people heal. This house was the mayor's house at one point. Then it was a hotel again, a family home, and then back to a rental. We love being the next part of it's history!

What makes this property unique

This beautiful home has been maintained, updated, and is in an amazing location on Main Street. There is a great wrap around front porch and a huge fenced backyard to sit and enjoy the outside, stars, nature,...
