About the property

Price cut 3 Story Townhouse, Parlor, Grand Piano, 3 Bdrms, Den, Garden

Hi! I am slashing the price on My ENTIRE 1820 Townhouse! Why? Because Homeaway/VRBO is charging stupid high fees to renters, and it's not fair. So while I look for a long term renter, I will cut my prices for a little while. The house: It's my family home, not a rental I manage. It's beautiful and historic and filled with antiques and cool stuff. It's bathed in light and in a great location. I started renting it part-time in 2009 because I work in Los Angeles quite often. It is rented by celebrities, artists, and CEOs. It's for a clientele that is used to privacy and quality.

Here's what's inside: Three bedrooms, a parlor with a Steinway Grand Piano, a Wolf stove in the kitchen, imported bathrooms, fireplaces, WIFI, flat screens, and a full garden.

The house is in a landmarked district in the middle of everything, on world famous Christopher Street, across from St. Luke's Church and playground. So unlike most townhouses, this one is full of beautiful Southern light all day--like in the South of France. You can walk to Spotted Pig, Pastis, Babbo, Magnolia Bakery, the Meatpacking District, and Soho. It's a short walk to local bakeries, gourmet coffee and cheese shops, and meat stores.

The house is on world famous Christopher Street. There is a homey local coffee house on one side and an Asian fusion restaurant on the other. There are Citibikes across the street for you to rent. The subway is two blocks away. Although the street is almost always quiet, the bedrooms have hotel-style soundproofed windows and the rooms are always silent.

I keep the price of my home reasonable so that great people will want to stay in it. Many of my guests return again and again--and you might, too. I think it's because the house is beautiful and filled with the kind of things you'd put in a house if you lived there yourself. Which I do.

About Stephen

Like most of my renters, I value my privacy. You may notice I don't even put a phone number in the add. But I'm in the entertainment business, and happy to tell you everything about myself when you get in touch by email.

Stephen purchased this townhome in 1997

Why Stephen chose Manhattan

BIG SALE! This is one of the coolest houses is in the coolest neighborhood in one of the coolest cities in the world.

What makes this townhome unique

The quality of what you find in this home is unusual for rental properties, because it is all my own things--Steinway piano, Wolf stove, Sony TVs, imported bathroom fixtures.

West Village Palooza!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful space, great character, elegant and functional, a charming retreat from the high energy of New York City when needed, but close to sights and sounds. Gorgeous Steinway Grand piano with a sound fit for Carnegie Hall will tempt any musician along for the trip. Jogging along the Hudson River just down the street, you can see the Statue of Liberty and the Freedom Tower. The townhouse is walking distance to the Subway or to Highline Park. It is located close to great bars and restaurants, many with historic significance (Olio e Piu, Malatesta, Cowgirl Cafe, The Stonewall Inn, White Horse Tavern), and stores (Joe Malone, Rag and Bone, Gourmet Garage). Great little thrift store at St. Luke's, too. But even in New York City, you might just want to stay home some time. There is a well appointed kitchen and lots of homey little spots to snuggle in. There are three large bedrooms, two and a half pretty bathrooms. Nesting might be preferred to sight-seeing sometimes. The Courtyard provides precious and comfortable outdoor space for morning coffee, evening cocktails or even dining. But most of all, your host is a total sweetheart. I will always remember this trip fondly.
