Beatific property, ideal for walking and sightseei

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully furnished ground floor accommodation with everything you might need. Owner was friendly and helpful and spoke enough English to communicate with us (we speak very little german). The view of the castle is impressive from the decking.

The castle is worth a visit and there are very good waymarked paths which go through Alken. The village is a very short walk where there are nice restaurants and a few shops including a small supermarket and a bakery.

Cochem is a bigger town with lots of shops, restaurants a cable car and a castle. It's an easy drive, boat ride or train journey. The pleasure boat from Alken is a leisurely way to see the river and it's locks. If you like bigger cities Koblenz is close too.

The Mosel is a beautiful river which also has an easy cycle path along it.

Keurig nette en complete vakantiewoning.

  • 5 of 5

Tolle FeWo in traumhafter Umgebung

  • 4 of 5

The historic wine village Alken, already in the 10th Century was mentioned, lies in the wine and cultural landscape Untermosel about midway between Koblenz and Cochem. It is embedded in the steep slopes of the Mosel terrace and offers a picturesque town with a variety of lovingly restored half-timbered houses.

Dominating the townscape of the towering majestically over the place Thurant and built on a small hill Romanesque chapel of St. Michael. In addition, witness a number of old buildings such as the Faller port, the Wiltburg, customs and defense tower, the Laacher Hof, the Maltese House and the remains of the ancient walls of a long history of the place.

On the Moselle promenade full of cafés and restaurants to relax and enjoy. In the cafes there is also the possibility to start the day with a hearty breakfast, unless they want to prepare yourself. Daily food are available in a supermarket.

To celebrate one understands in Alken. With every year on the third Sunday of Lent held Moose Man festival is commemorated with a parade through town on the liberation of Thurant. On every third Weekend in August have the Alkener wineries open their cellars and download music in the tasting of their award-winning wines in their farms. On the third Advent conveys the Christmas market with mulled wine and candlelight akward.

In addition, taverns offer their self-produced products at low cost.

Every Tuesday there is the possibility of a local guide with a visit to the St. Attend Michael's Chapel with adjacent ossuary. Rewarding and recommended are also the popular wine tasting at one of the local wineries, where so many anecdote is given about wine for the best.

Due to its central location offers for travelers in and around Alken numerous activities accessible.

Nature lovers opens up an extensive network of hiking trails. Very popular are the so-called. Songlines. It is certified by the German Hiking Institute hiking trails of varying difficulty, which are well signposted and offer superb views. The dream path "Both Berger views" can be reached directly from the house. The "Hatzenporter Laysteig" or "low-Feller Schwalbe Trail" are only a few kilometers away.

It is also recommended extending between the alkene and Oberfell 'theme time travel', where you'll encounter at every turn witnesses of the time of the early hunter-gatherers until the recent past.

Cyclists can either having to overcome comfortably and without height differences cycle along the Mosel or kick to the heights of the Eifel and Hunsrück.
