The cabin was beautiful, it had everything we needed and then some! Gorgeous Oregon setting, our dogs loved to play in the creek and run in the field. We enjoyed a fire in the fireplace under the full moon. The owner was super responsive and helpful. The history, the love and care put into every detail was fantastic.
We will continue going back twice a year as long as the owner will have us!!!!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Our extended family came in for a UCC Graduation and this house was perfect. Everything was well stocked and clean. Any cooking appliance or tool was there as well as some basic seasonings and condiments. Lots of wineries close by, we went to one that was just 6 minutes away. I reached out to the host for a few requests the morning of our check in and I received an almost immediate response.
This is a fantastic property that had everything we could ask for. The communication from the host was great, cabin shows pride of ownership and thoughtfulness toward guests. We spent our days adventuring and evenings watching the grandkids play on the nicely cut grass while we relaxed and grilled. This is the cleanest rental home we have stayed in. Perfect base camp for any Southern Oregon adventure and if you’re not sure where to go the hosts provide lots of insight in their lodge book, something for everyone.
The house was great. Very well stocked kitchen and firewood made for a fun and relaxing new year’s gathering with our close friends. Two families, including 4 boys 8-14, and two dogs had plenty of space and gathering room. Owner, Jon, was responsive and thoughtful. Sent us to a good location to forage for mushrooms! Roseburg is a sweet town with everything you need.
I hosted a friendsgiving weekend for a few close friends and their spouse's and the Firewater Lodge Cabin was the perfect setting. We all live within 30 minutes so it was easy to get to for those who only came for the evening portion. There is plenty of property to explore and nothing beats sitting around a campire at night with fully stocked firewood. There is so much to appreciate inside the cabin as well, you can tell a lot of love and hard work went into the build. We will definitely be back for another stay.
The house was very clean and had everything we could've needed! The owners were super responsive when we had questions. Property is the perfect mix of wilderness and comfort. Will definitely be back!
The property was excellent just what we needed nice peace, and quiet and excellent way to relax did some wine tours and tasting had some friends down from Alaska up for dinner. That we met up for wine tastingthoroughly enjoyed our stay at your cabin. Will definitely rebook a longer stay in the future
We had a wonderful stay! The owners were wonderful at communication. The cabin is big, clean, nicely decorated, and peaceful. Our kids loved playing in the creek and in the big grassy area. We hope to return!
The log cabin you dream of owning. Amazing craftsmanship with lots of unique features. Everything you need was supplied, just bring food. Loved the private setting with a nice creek and great fire pit to sit around and enjoy our group. Highly recommend a stay here!
Our family loved our stay! There was plenty of space for everyone (six of us) and lots to do. We enjoyed picking fruit around the property and walking down to the creek. The house was very clean and well stocked, and the check in process was simple. I would definitely recommend staying here with your family!

About the host
Hosted by Jonathan Haeber
We are Erik, Brooke, and Jon – siblings and hosts for your stay at Firewater Lodge. This cabin was the dream home of our father, Mark Haeber, who passed away from cancer in 2020. His dream of finally building a cabin of his own in the Oregon forest was finally realized in 2010 when he built this home with his daughter and son-in-law.
Mark was a skilled machinist for decades and learned fluent Spanish on the job. He was an active outdoorsman and reverently respected nature and its bounty. Fishing, hunting, mushroom foraging, and homebrewing were among his many passions. He shared these passions with his two sons and loved to cook the food he hunted and gathered for family when they visited.
The name, “Firewater Lodge,” comes from our father’s love of a good fire on the porch and his deep interest in fishing and boating on the local lakes and rivers.
When you stay at the cabin, you will not just be enjoying the custom-designed, ethically harvested timber home he dreamed of building, but also the many activities he enjoyed.
