We had such a wonderful time here! It was exactly what we needed. The peace and quiet was amazing! The history of the property made it even more special. Wish we had more time to stay! We will come back! I highly recommend this place! A true gem! Bud and Kitty were so sweet and kind to talk to!! Thank you for everything!!!! The cleanliness and decor was perfection!
This hidden gem was a truly unique combination of rustic, historic, relaxing, and comfortable. It was a great alternative to staying in a hotel, and the owners were responsive, friendly, and very accommodating. We'll be staying there again!
Our stay at Jubilee Plantation could not have been better. The rustic cabin was comfortable and the surroundings were beautiful and natural. We hated to leave.
This beautiful property was every thing we expected and more. Serene lake, breathtaking views, all with a historic background that we learned so much about. The hosts were so gracious and welcoming. We will be back! 5 stars - highly recommend
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely cabin!
Staying at such a unique property turned a quick trip into a special memory. I was thrilled that our children were able to experience the natural beauty of North Florida that I love so much. The cabin is beautifully restored and the blueberries were delicious!
Thank you to the Chiles family for your hospitality and sharing this historic cabin!
Peace, tranquility, nature, history and all its beauty that Governor Chiles fell in love with.
Historic cabins rustic but with just enough modern convenience a great location too. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to spend quality time with friends are family to a stay at this beautiful one of a kind property. Fire pit with roasted marshmallows to the nature trails thru out the property its what makes the Tallahassee Red Hills area famous.
Thank you Bud and Kitty for the privilege to enjoy your fathers special place.
Three words can describe our stay…A-MA-ZING!! Where the 19th century meets the 21st century! This amazing cabin is so cozy and comfortable with AC and WiFi but…you are staying in a cabin built in 1827!! It was incredible!! We slept so good and the bathroom was so nice!! The balance of old and new made this stay so memorable. The hosts were so nice and the property is so clean with so much acreage to explore!! We will be back!!
Wow! This was an amazing experience. The history alone makes it special. When we arrived, the hosts has the light on and the fireplace going. The hosts were concerned about our comfort due to cold weather which was very thoughtful. Comfortable, spacious, and unique. Highly recommend. We will be back.
This place was a great find! We came up to Tallahassee for the FSU graduation and needed a hotel that didn’t cost a small fortune and cannot believe we found this place. It’s so lovely. We hiked, peddle boat, caught fireflies and enjoyed every minute. Wi-Fi was a little spotty but apparently we needed to reset the modem. I hope we can go back for a longer stay next time. Love the history and property! Thank you!
It’s hard to put into words what we experienced in the 1827 cabins. Bud and Kitty were spectacular hosts and I can’t say enough for the cabins and all the love that they have poured into renovating them while not removing their ample charm and history. From the logs and chinking, beams and creaky flooring, the scenic setting, the cabins and surrounding property could not help but to speak directly to your heart! It was hot but we still were drawn to sit outside in the weathered rockers, under the tin roofs and ceiling fans while sipping our beverages. We spent lots of time with the lizards, squirrels, gopher tortoises, blue herons and of course listening to the cicadas. The claw foot tub was perfect for a temped bath at the end of the hottest day. The simple kitchen setup was just enough for us to make some yummy meals and then sit at the weathered table that was stained with cup rings and wear and the old chairs , including one with Gov. Lawton Chiles seal on it. I wish this space could have spoke. I loved the minimalism of this adventure. It made you realize just how much we take for granted and do not really need. It takes you right back to when things were not so fast paced. We would love to take a trip back in the spring as the property boasts a large organic blueberry and pear orchard. We highly recommend taking a trip to and staying at this gem! Not one single regret on our part!
The log cabin was a beautiful, peaceful, unique place to stay. The owners were very accommodating. The many walking trails were well groomed through a gorgeous woods. A great place!
It was truly an honor to stay in this historical cabin. The owners thought of everything to make are stay enjoyable.
We loved the trails on the property and the surrounding canopy roads.
Check in and check out was a breeze and communication with the owners was wonderful. We look forward to returning someday!
We had a wonderful time. This is a special place owing to its history as well as the fact that it is maintained by the Governor’s family. Although we usually stay in town, our regular hotel was closed for remodeling. When you can’t stay at the Governor’s Inn, then why not stay at his cabin.
Anyway, what better way to visit Tallahassee than to stay in a historical log cabin in the country. Located about 30 minutes North of downtown Tallahassee, it’s a straight shot to the capital , FSU, and FAMU so it’s a great place to stay for a football game, as we did. It’s also a scenic 15-20 minute drive to the historic country towns of Thomasville and Monticello.
The cabin is part of a rustic 2 cabin compound with a large fire ring and separate smokehouse located in the woods near a blueberry orchard. Both cabins are authentic 200 year old Florida cracker-style cabins with large front porches that have been updated with electricity and modern plumbing and are easily accessible by car. There is also a bbq grill, pond and hiking trails. The secluded location is perfect for a peaceful getaway or a weekend with friends or family.
Although the cabins are rustic and the internet and wireless service are spotty, the cabins are clean, the beds are very comfortable, the Keurig coffee is good, and the owners had firewood stacked in the fire ring ready to go when we arrived. The owners are also on site and very nice.
All in all, we had a great time and look forward to returning.
beautiful, rustic, quiet. Needs to be clear that one of the bedrooms is open to the living room. They said there would be beer, wine and breakfast food, but that wasn't the case. But it was relaxing and enjoyable.
This was a great last minute surprise trip for our moms birthday. The cabin was more than we expected to say the least! The host were very attentive and made the experience one we will never forget. My two brothers and I grew up in the local area of Miccosukee. It was great to catch up with friends and family after many years!
Amazing cabin, very peaceful,a pleasant escape to get away and emerse yourself in mother nature.
With a wonderful Host, Beautiful historic cabin on a pond with soothing sounds of beautiful birds and the best Blueberries you'll ever taste!👍
The main cabin was where we stayed. While there is a second one with a kitchen it appeared to be under renovation. The cabin is rustic but has some nice amenities like A/C, hot water, and a nice bathroom. Very peaceful setting.
We did have an issue with the AC unit in the main area where the drain line backed up, but my husband fixed it and we cleaned up the water and moved on. And a mouse visited one night and helped himself to a few bites of a donut. It is a cabin so to.be expected. ☺️
The blueberry orchards were beautiful and the berries delicious. It was very sweet to leave some for us in fridge. We picked some to take home as well.
Surrounding small towns offered quaint local restaurants with yummy food. And fun shops to explore.
Overall it was a nice relaxing getaway!
