Welcome to the Waterfowl Lodge! We are located Between Toledo and Port Clinton, near the Camp Perry firing Range and all the local fishing Marina's,(including Fenwick, Anchor Point Marina ,Wild Wings Marina), on highway Rte 2. This is an excellent location for all your hunting(Crane Creek Wildlife Preserve, Marsh and Beach).
The lodge features a completely furnished kitchen, two bedrooms with three twin beds in each, a large dining-living combination with two full-sized pullout sleeper sofas. Everything is furnished, pots, pans, linens, right down to a pot of coffee for the morning. As you drink your morning coffee you can watch the ducks and geese fly over head. If it Rains , theres plenty of room for the fishermen to play cards , watch the sports on TV and relax all at the same time.
The Lodge comes with a picnic area with large spruce trees , 2 picnic tables and a gas grill for you to use also during your stay. The Lodge has plenty of room to park your trucks and boats, also the lodge has a outdoor built in power station to charge your boat batteries .
Fishing Charters are located just minutes away, along with the world famous Put-in-bay and the Lake Erie Islands. The lodge is located directly across from Crane Creek State Park and Magee Marsh Wildlife Refuge. It is an excellent location for Bird watchers. With many nature trails located in the park it makes for a great afternoon of hiking. There is also a large public swimming beach, with an outdoor picnic area. We can also help arrange a fishing charter with many captains on hand, just let us know.
NOTE: The lodge is locate up one flight of stairs.
We are excited to welcome you to our lodge. Tim and I are from Ironton, OH and Wayne, WV (respectively). We are excited to begin organic gardening and natural homesteading on the 5 acre property. Many updates are on the way for your enjoyment!!!! We look forward to meeting you.
Monica McKnight purchased this lodge in 2013
To give the Fishermen and Hunters a nice place to stay when it rains or the water is rough, after working in a food like setting , the fishermen would sit for several hours drinking coffee, before they could go out on charters, so we set up a nice home away from home setting in which they would be comfortable while they waited. Most of the people that come to stay rebook for the next year before they leave.
There is Plenty of hiking right across the street, this area is quiet, yet not far to the local excitement.
A group of 9 girls including myself had plenty of room here during a weekend getaway. We traveled to Put In Bay for a day. Great stay!
We had our family gathering for 4th of July around Sandusky area. The place was as we expected. We had a great time without any worries.
A great hangout for seven or eight guys for a weekend bible study retreat in the dead of winter! Six twins and two pull out couch beds made for a great weekend! Right across the street from some really good hiking in a waterfowl preserve! The cabin was super clean and everything worked as advertised, we stayed plenty warm, cooked a few meals, and had a great time! Owners made it all too easy, very hospitable! Would recommend highly and will return again some day soon!
This is a terrific place to stay, particularly if you're a birdwatcher. It is located on Hwy. 2 between the entrance to Ottawa NWR and the road leading to Magee Marsh--very convenient! It is all as advertised: 2 BR with 3 single beds in each room (we were a party of 3 women, so we used the extra beds for our clothes and luggage), 2 bathrooms, 1 shower, refrigerator/freezer, coffeemaker, microwave, etc. We stayed for 5 nights, and explored a number of nearby wildlife refuges, a state park, lighthouse, and especially Magee Marsh! It was the perfect location for us! Monica McKnight, the owner, went to the hospital to have her first baby the day after we arrived, so we did not see them after that, but she left the phone number for her mother, in case we needed anything. There was also a TV, etc., which we didn't use (too busy!). We would love to stay here again and would recommend it!
The only con would be there are steep stairs leading to the apartment above the garage, so this place would not be for the handicapped or physically impaired.
Everything was Great.Been staying there for few years now New Owners picked up where the Old owners left off.Stayed alot of different places near the lake this is the Best.
We arrived July 27, 2013 and stayed through August 4th for the CMP national matches at Camp Perry. In previous years, I did not attend, so he stayed with Texas team mates in Port Clinton.
I stumbled across this listing while searching options, and the owner was kind enough to respond to my many questions via phone calls and emails.Compared to similar places around Lake Erie, this one just stood out in regards to maintenance, condition and cleanliness. and offered privacy, since it is only one unit. The only thing lacking was internet service, but I SURVIVED!
Everything else was completely furnished for us! Linens, towels, dish towels and cloths, kleenex, toilet paper, aluminum foil , paper towels, body gel, shampoo, conditioner, cleaning supplies, cookware, utensils, dishes, glasses, tea, coffee, spices......what am I forgetting to tell y'all?
The "Lodge" decor is rustic charming. We had spacious living, dining, kitchen area outfitted with 2 comfortable sleeper style couches and 2 recliners. Throws on the back of each sofa for that TV time....and yes....it was Direct TV. I didn't use it, but I believe there was also a DVD player beneath the large TV. End table and cabinets were stocked with cards, and games.
The kitchen had a refrigerator, small chest style freezer for the fisherman/hunter's bounty, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, and an apartment sized electric stove. Gas grill next to the designated lodge parking area.
There are 2 bathrooms. 1 has a sink, toilet, and shower stall. This bath has a counter top for your "stuff" when spiffing up. There is a hair dryer in the linen cabinet for you to use as well as a full length mirror in addition to the smaller over the sink mirror. The other bathroom sports a vanity/mirror with 1 sink, and a toilet.
Each bedroom has 3 twin beds. They are very comfortable. There were only the 2 of us, so we slept in one bedroom and used the beds in the other room to spread out our clothing, etc and usage as a dressing room. Neither bedroom had closets or chest/dresser drawers, so this worked well for just us. When the lodge is occupied with the up to 10 it can sleep with all the twin beds and sleeper sofas, hopefully all of you are more conservative packers than I. I take too many shoes/clothes according to hubby.
Deeter and Ron were wonderful, considerate hosts! The type folks you'd like as friends/neighbors. We highly recommend Waterfowl Lodge to all, and we'll see y'all for CMP matches 2014!
