The rugged northern boundary of Joshua Tree National Park fills the views and its west entrance is a short two miles away. Guestbook comments from the owner

We returned today from the US and we can say that the stay at Highdesert Homestead was our absolute highlight. Accommodation, view, and calm ambience with the surrounding nature were fantastic. We immediately felt at home and were so sad as we had to leave too early.

Thank you so much for this wonderful experience!

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

A clean, comfortable and beautiful place with excellent views. Very well-designed combination of rustic and modern. Some wonderful hand-made furniture. Kitchen is very nicely done. It feels great to be in the house and the location is excellent both in terms of restaurants and the park. We loved this place.

Serene, minimalist and stylist retreat.

This retreat was perfect for my friend's and my writing weekend. The beds were super-comfy, the living room relaxing, and the property provided amazing views day and night.

we were looking for a quiet, out of the way mini retreat space and this was it.... well stocked and clean, with great views. comfortable beds and although we didn't use it, a fireplace with plenty of firewood. grateful for the time spent there.

So Quiet and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

I rented the cabin for a photography trip to Joshua Tree National Park. It looked really interesting online, and was even better in person. Drove from the park and Siri gave fairly bad directions on the bumpiest unpaved roads, but once I took Alta Loma to Sunset to Skyline to Fleur, not a problem. The home is very tastefully furnished, bed was very comfortable, I didn't sleep on the futon but the view from the desk in the second bedroom was very nice. More kitchen utensils, pots, pans etc than I would ever use. From a photographers standpoint, great sunrise views over the mountains and lots of options for night photography. Far enough from the neighbors, but close enough to grocery store and restaurants. Personally, I could have stayed up all night and read and listened to the coyotes, then out all day in the park. I was there for 5 days and 4 nights, but wish I could have stayed much longer.

Enjoyed spending time with family at the High Desert Homestead. It sits high up on the hill with excellent views. The yard is fully fenced which makes it perfect for dogs.

Portland, Or

perfect desert stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the California desert and we could not have made a better choice of house to rent. The location was amazing and we spent a great deal of time just soaking in the views from the patios. However we were close to Joshua Tree, both the town and the park, and therefore access to both was easy. Our biggest disappointment was not seeing a roadrunner! The rest of our stay met and often exceeded our expectations.
