About this property
Peaceful Elegance in the country near the Deschutes River
This is a one of a kind property that is guaranteed to be remembered. This starts with a scenic 2.5 mile drive down a private road to a farmhouse surrounded by wheat fields and mountain views. The driveway will take you through a canyon with scenic Wapinitia Creek trickling below.
Just when you think the road is not headed anywhere, you will see a house come into view surrounded by some old barns with views of Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, and Mt. Adams. Though old, this house has been completely updated with new windows, doors, paint, plumbing, floors, decks, bedding, furnishings, and a hot tub.
This is the ultimate place to relax, as you are away from everyone, as the private road ends at this house. You can enjoy the sounds of the morning birds while sipping coffee on the deck. You can enjoy watching the sun set over Mt. Hood in the evening with deer in the yard. You can bbq while the kids play basketball. You can spend the day on the river and come back to a private ranch retreat to soak in the hot tub and watch your problems disappear.
You may be lucky enough to be at this house during wheat harvest, where we will be hurrying to put our annual crop of wheat in the grain bins near the house, or in the fall where we are hurrying to get the crop planted. Regardless, we think you will enjoy your time away from the city and can get fully refreshed as our guest out here on the Natural Pasture Ranch.
This property is located just 10 miles from the tourist town of Maupin, which has fishing, rafting, dining, and a wonderful market. This property is fully furnished and should have everything you need to cook, prepare, and store food at the house.
Lastly, we will limit 1 night stays to groups less than 4. We will do 1 night stays, but only to small groups of 4 or less, or a single family unit. We won't force a 2 night minimum as most do, but we will not accept big groups for just a single night. Thank you for understanding.

We needed a place to stay while we were in the area for a wedding and this was perfect! This comfortable, clean, spacious but cozy, cute and updated farmhouse was perfect for our family of 6! Would highly recommend!
This was our third year spending a weekend at Kevin's property, and we always enjoy it! The house is comfortable, quiet (save the occasional rooster outburst) and offers fantastic views of the night sky. Highly recommended.
We had such a wonderful stay! Kevin and Misty were excellent hosts and their property is incredible. We had complete privacy and can’t see a light or a soul from the house, other than the grazing cows. We kept finding ourselves torn between exploring the area and just wanting to relax on the back deck. Everything was clean and well stocked, no notes.
fresh air, farm animals, deer abound, quiet and oh the view of the heavens at night.....a special place Recently updated - tons of space in the open concept floorplan downstairs for 8 people to spread out, cook and play games together. Hot tub was clean and positioned under the stars....we saw 7 shooters!there is one bathroom with jet tub and shower in the home with an adjacent bedroom. Just fine for cozy friends and family but something to know if you have people in more than one bedroom that need a close bathroom as the other 3 rooms are upstairs. We slept with the windows open and it was beyond lovely up there!
Very peaceful & beautiful home in the country! Loved how tastefully updated the house was, but still had the wonderful charm of the old farmhouse, with the original doors & woodwork. Kevin was the most gracious host & was very attentive! We will definitely be back! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home & property with us!
This place is lovely and comfortable for a group of friends who want to spend time together, cook together, relax together. And yet there’s enough room that private time can be had when you need it. It’s hard to find any flaws in the accommodations. We’ll certainly be back.
The house was great. Dining room was big and living room was spacious with enough seats for all of us . Work for a family of 4 and a couple, but would really love to have a second bathroom. The view was amazing. Wheat fields, canyon, Mt Hood, Mt Adams and maybe Mt Jefferson. Plenty of space for my kids to play around. Host/owner was very nice. Would really love to come back.
This was our third stay here. Once again, Kevin and Misty were great hosts. This house and the surrounding acreage sit on a plateau, surrounded on all sides by rock walls. Peaceful is an understatement. We trekked to the rim of the Deschutes canyon on this trip which we hadn’t done on previous visits. Just a nice time all around. Thanks again!
The renovated and upgraded farmhouse sits on a plateau with an amazing view of Mt. Hood and a glimpse of Mt. Jefferson. The interior is well-appointed and comfortable and has a comfortable porch and hot tub. The farm experience includes a few steers and three roosters who were polite enough to crowed in the morning away from the house and did not wake us. It is located just a few miles from Maupin known for its river rafting on the Deschutes River and there is a well-known scenic cycling route along the river and though the countryside.
We enjoyed a peacefully quiet stay in a nature filled environment. We were greeted by many deer, chickens, & goats. We were surrounded by vast skies, pastures, & million dollar mountain views. We watched bunnies, squirrels take dust baths, killdeer birds & raptors, & enjoyed hearing the horses talk. The stars were amazing! And so was the gorgeous spacious house. And so we're the hosts! Kevin & Misty are kind & helpful. If you want to get away from the city, the traffic & noise-come here.
Our stay exceeded expectations in every category. The drive in was slightly intimidating at the top of the canyon, but incredible once we started down. We had a girl's retreat and we laughed and enjoyed the whole trip. The furnishings looked like they came out of a magazine. The appliances were all new. Everyone slept well because the beds were all soft and dreamy, plus you could tell everything was clean. We all sat out under the lit patio while having drinks and soaking in the hot tub. What really got all of us was just how quiet it was out there. It's hard to describe not hearing any highway, city, or neighbor noise. We were fortunate to have clear skies, and without any city light pollution, we looked at more stars than we knew existed. We will be making this trip annually and will hopefully get to stay longer. The owners were so accommodating as well. We forgot to bring vegetable oil to cook with, so I sent a text to the owners asking how late the market in Maupin would be open. The owners delivered us vegetable oil 5 minutes later. Highly recommend.
This property is perfect for getting away and resetting. A mile or so from the next nearest residence it feels great to be able to remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of life and be able to take in the scenery and fantastic views of the stars with nearly no light pollution. The owner was very communicative and above and beyond helpful for any questions or issues we ran into. Would definitely book again.
A remote farmhouse in the country on a gravel road. Very peaceful and quiet. A good place to relax and connect with our group again. Not for those who need to be in the center of the action. We loved it.
Lovely farm house in the high desert. With views of Mt Hood, sagebrush and hay fields. Star gazing from the hot tub was amazing.
We saw deer, quail, rabbits and coyotes. Plus the owners cows and horse to view from the back porch.
The toaster didn’t work very well and the pans were a little scraped up, but it didn’t detract from the magic at all, what a gorgeous place”?
The host, Kevin and his family were so welcoming. They checking in with us to make sure we we’re doing well and if we needed anything.
This was an amazing stay in a unique environment.
Ok.. so the house is in the middle of nowhere, you drive about 5 miles on a gravel road to get there but the house is absolutely beautiful/charming/peaceful. The views and the sunsets are incredible. We had a group of 4 couples and we were bit concerned about sharing one bathroom but the house was by far the nicest and cleanest looking one available for our dates. We brought some poo-pouri and it was fine. There never seemed to be a wait for the restroom and all the rooms had mirrors so girls used them to get ready. The star gazing is unreal and the owner was extremely kind and helpful. Would highly recommend!
We could not be more pleased with our choice of accommodations. The farmhouse has been beautifully updated, both inside and out, and Kevin and Misty went out of their way to make our stay everything we could hope for. We especially loved the covered deck area, perfect for sitting anytime of the day, with the hot tub right next to it for anyone who wanted to enjoy a relaxing soak. The peace and quiet and the unique location was just what we wanted. I have to mention that we ended up with a flat tire and before we knew it Kevin noticed it and had it all fixed for us. We appreciated his kindness very much. It was “above and beyond”.
This place is unique. It really feels like you are out on a remote farm. Beautiful scenery. House was nicely updated and had all the basic needs covered. We saw and heard some wildlife (e.g., coyotes, snakes, lizards), which we enjoyed but prospective renters should understand. Kevin is a terrific host. Very available and communicative. We look forward to staying again.
