About Cheryl Paddock
The best part of being the contact person for the cottages is that I love the interactions with people of every inquiry I receive. Each story is unique and the reasons for coming to LI - anniversaries, birthdays, getting married, or just plain kicking back to relax, are all to be celebrated and I love being a part of it. Many guests we have met and they have become friends to both Barry and I. We always look forward to meeting up again and rejoice when our paths do cross at the same time.
Cheryl Paddock purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Cheryl Paddock chose Clarence Town
From the first moment of visiting Long Island and the Lochabar area, Barry and I felt we had truly found home. The amazing beauty and safety of the harbor, the local people & neighbors who have become close friends, the sea life plus the surrounding vegetation make this the ultimate place to relax or enjoy numerous water sports & activities. A bit of heaven on earth! The 3 cays in front are accessible by kayak to beach comb for shells, bring a picnic or to enjoy solitary pursuits. It also makes the water calm with the amazing colors of turquoise and many shades of blue. Simply amazing!
What makes this Cottage unique
Sea life with turtles & rays plus the birds, butterflies and flowers surround you with their presence to enjoy. The cottage location makes it easy to dine out. There are 2 local restaurants close by in Clarence Town that serve Bahamian style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner or ordering takeout if you wish to eat in to enjoy the view. There are several stores within driving distance if you wish to cook and prepare your own. Deadmans cay airport is a 20 minute drive from the cottage and is an easy commute. Deadmans Cay also hosts a Doctors Clinic with a smaller clinic in Clarence Town.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Wish I was there
This was my first time in Long Island, I’d been traveling all over the Caribbean for the past 24 years but concentrating my last six years in the family islands of the Bahamas and every time I think this is it! I found another beautiful place. The house is exactly as was described and the views are amazing all around, the grounds are well taken care off. I don’t remember ever seeing so many butterflies , we also saw flamingos fly by the house one day. We didn’t do anything for 10 days except for going to Deans blue hole, Patty’s brother Michael took us there and he gave us a mini tour of Clarence town and the surrounding neighborhood he is such a nice man. Patty did the shopping for us for thinks like milk, eggs, bread, vegetables etc. We usually bring meats and other things from the states when people see how many suitcases we have they always ask if we are moving to the islands Ha! I wish! The AC and the ceiling fans worked great but there was a nice breeze always so if you are not afraid of random bugs you could leave the doors open. Bring snorkeling gear we saw a barracuda, stingray, 5 conchs a trumpet fish and many others fish. When is low tide the water only reaches up to the knees but at high tide up to my chest I’m 5’4. I don’t think I ever used a nicer set of pots in all the years I’d been traveling and that’s very important to me because I cook all our meals I even carry my own fried pan ( don’t laugh) and my ceramic knife. I did bring beach towels but it was not necessary the house had plenty of beach and bath towels even a blow dryer and I nice flat screen TV with Netflix! The only thing missing is a washer machine but you can’t have everything! We felt very safe in the house but like typical New Yorker that I am I would lock the doors every time a went to the beach which happens to be 7 to 8 times a day, my husband thinks I’m crazy but oh well. I forgot to mention the lovely outdoor shower and the beautiful front porch where you would spend most of your time. Vacations are great, enjoy! Ps I posted some videos on YouTube Lochabar beach in Long Island at low tide, passionate pelican cottage in Long Island bahamas, Lochabar beach in Long Island
The view from Passionate pelican was truly amazing! It was our first time to the Bahamas and it was our honeymoon! We had a great time site seeing and spent a lot of time snorkeling right in our own backyard for the week! Cheryl was great and anytime I had questions or needed anything was quick to answer! Thank you for everything!!
Lovely time on Long Island, Bahamas
Arrived with our groceries (purchased at Sea Wind), to find a fully equipped kitchen in our very very comfortable Passionate Pelican cottage! Sipping coffee in the morning overlooking the stunning aqua-blue bay set the stage for our activities each day - exploring the beach, using the kayak to explore the bay, discovering the restaurants of the area - the view at the Marina, the outdoor local ambiance of Max's Conch Bar (including some history from Max himself), the friendly Rowdy Boys Bar and Grill. Add a little snorkeling at Blue Hole, a trip to the museum, a day trip to South Island - a nice getaway, no crowds (at the end of April), a sweet time!
Loved the location, the privacy, and the layout of the property. All you need, no more, no less. Great neighbors if you happen to venture out. Loved our time there!
More than a vacation!
My husband and I agree that it is difficult to come up with words to adequately describe our stay at the Passionate Pelican in Long Island. It was every bit of the dream vacation we had been anticipating for almost a year. Nancy helped our arrival to go seamlessly. And it was comforting to know she was always just a phone call away for any needs or questions we may have. We were greeted at the airport with a huge smile and warm hug from Pat Majors from Ophelia's Rental Cars. The house and property were MORE than perfect with every comfort and convenience you could want. The comfy chairs on the balcony overlooking the magical ocean with every shade of blue imaginable and the outdoor shower were among our favorite spots (boy do we ever miss that view while we are showering!) We had a blast exploring the island from north to south and every side road in between which usually ended up on one stunning beach after another. Often we had the beaches to ourselves. Don't miss the Friday night pig roast at Rowdy Boys or the bakery in Clarence Town. Share your leftovers with Butch (the True Value doggie.) And wave to everyone! We suggest doing your homework prior to coming as there aren't many signs. And be prepared for the high price of food and gas - that's just island life. Mother nature had her way with Long Island in 2015 but that did not rattle the folks who remain there today. This was the most beautiful place in the world we have ever seen, but it was the sweet spirited, friendly and humble people that have been imprinted on our hearts. Thank you for welcoming us onto your island and into your home in paradise. WE WILL BE BACK!
Passionate Pelican was a dream home on a gorgeous beach, we loved every moment of our stay. Possibly the best location on Long Island with everything you need, for a perfect holiday. We hope to do this again, as we left our hearts in Passionate Pelican.
Located in beautiful Lochabar Harbor known for being the safest harbor on the island and located in the capitol of the island, Clarence Town, Passionate Pelican is only 1-1/2 miles away from several harbor restaurants, bars and a small grocery store plus a bakery. There are many other stores and restaurants located throughout the island. The restaurants serve tasty island fare and the grocery stores have many staples with fresh food arriving weekly by boat. Residents of Long Island are very friendly and very helpful to tourists.
There are no commercial resorts or chain stores located anywhere on Long Island. Island bands are a treat!
