The name "Same Time Next Year" suits this unique vacation rental. Because if you’ve stayed here, you’ll want to return again and again.

Located in a quiet, wooded neighborhood just minutes from the ocean, this newly-remodeled contemporary home offers uncommon peace and serenity, inside and out.

The interior features multi-level living spaces inspired by subtle Japanese design; natural light, colors, and woodwork … windows/views everywhere, allowing the outside to come in - comfortable, uncluttered furnishings, a soaking tub/shower combination in the master bath and, a second floor deck for sunning during the day and star-gazing at night.

Outside there’s an acre’s worth of forested yard to explore, a network of low traffic, residential roads for hiking and biking. When you come back home again, you'll enjoy the hot tub, for just plain old relaxation.

"Same Time Next Year" lies between Mendocino Village and Fort Bragg ... a perfect jumping-off spot for enjoying everything the Mendocino Coast has to offer.

Very peaceful retreat - felt like living in a tree house!

  • 4 of 5

My family and I spent a lovely peaceful long weekend here. The rooms on the top floor are very quiet and it is so nice to wake up looking at the trees through the big windows. The hot tub was nice and warm. There's a consistent minimalist Japanese theme throughout the house - with Japanese style baths, which are interesting to try out. The 1st floor room seemed cold and empty when we got there, but cozy when closing the sliding doors and turning on the heater.

It was the first time in 2years that it had been rented out on VRBO, so had a few things that we would have expected, though not included in the advertisement (binder with written instructions, a BBQ, and some other things) which I'm sure will be ironed out. Doug was extremely responsive and offered a refund because of some of the challenges we had. I expect they'll learn from those and implement changes.

Great for large family gathering

  • 5 of 5

This was the first vacation with my adult children and grandchildren. The house is very roomy inside and there is a great fire pit outside. There were enough sleeping arrangments for all 11 of us. The location is great as you're close to both Fort Bragg and Caspar for fishing and the beach. The beds are super comfy, a great hot tub, and a wonderful shower downstairs. The kids loved having wi-fi and cable tv. The house is decorated tastefully and the kitchen has great supplies. The price was fantastic and I've already received my deposit back!! Thanks Doug

Perfect house

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for us! It lacked nothing, plenty of dishes, glasses, cooking supplies, sheets, pillows, blankets, etc.. It was very clean, quiet and peaceful. We needed the WiFi because cell phone coverage is not good, but the house also has a phone :-). We enjoyed picking some blackberries down the street, fun for the kids! The owner was timely in responding and helpful, the house was close to all. Certainly would recommend this home to anyone looking for a retreat home!

Perfect Vacation House

  • 5 of 5

We are very pleased this house. We have four little kids and the house is big enough for them to explorer and also there are board-games and many books that we didn't need to bring ones. The house was very clean and well furnished. It's closed to Safeway, home-made ice cream shop and local restaurants. The location of this house was perfect for us to drive to beached and trails. It's surrounded by many state parks. The owner is helpful and very easy to communicate by email. I would recommend this house and also we would like to stay this house again.

Tranquillity among the Trees

VRBO – A Place of Tranquility among the Trees

We spent an enchanting fall weekend at this house last November. The layout worked perfectly for our party of four, which consisted of two couples. My husband and I stayed in the bedroom suite on the ground floor. The bed and bedding were amazingly comfortable. A pot-bellied stove (electric and very easy to operate) kept us cozy, and we had direct access to the outdoor hot tub, and then downstairs bath has a beautiful shower lined with river rocks for rinsing off afterwards. The upstairs suite was equally well appointed, and it too had direct access to the hot tub (a door off the bedroom leads directly down to the tub). I agree with others who have commented that the photos fail to do the house justice. The lovely Japanese-themed décor is wonderfully successful, making the house feel like a place of tranquility amid the trees. The well-equipped kitchen and the dining area were perfect for the dinner we prepared our first night and there were games galore for afterwards. The weather was a little crisp, but even so we couldn’t resist bundling up in sweaters to enjoy sitting on the sunny second-floor balcony that overlooks the property. We also very much appreciated the location. Previously we’d stayed further south and never ventured much beyond Mendocino. This time we took advantage of the easy drive to both Mendocino and Fort Bragg, as well as the lighthouse park and Glass Beach (where we collected handfuls of white, green and amber sea glass) and the Botanical Garden. It was an unforgettable getaway. We couldn’t recommend this rental more highly.

Far exceeded our expectations

  • 5 of 5

We were a little skeptic about this place due to the lack of reviews, but I have to admit we were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. The home is tastefully decorated to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. The layout of the house was perfect for our group. Each bedroom is on a separate floor, so everyone felt as though they had their own space, but we also came together in a cozy living room and kitchen area on the middle floor during the day and evenings. We were a group of 10 (4 adults, 2 teenagers, 3 adolescents and a baby under 12 months) and everyone had a bed so it didn't feel crowded and the kids didn't feel like 2nd rate citizens on the floor in sleeping bags. The Jacuzzi was heated and ready to go, the home was thoughtfully stocked with essentials (dishes, linens, board games, books, garbage bags, matches, etc.), the beds were super comfy and the kids were able to play outside in a worry-free environment. You can see deer cruising through the yard and there is even a tree house for the kids to play in! Let's not forget the fire pit that already had wood ready for us to roast marshmallows for the smores. It was a great Labor Day weekend for all of us and we would definitely stay here again. I know this review has been super positive so far (rightfully so), but I will give you a couple of things to think about... if you were a large group gathering for Christmas and wanting everyone to be together ... it would be a little difficult due to the layout. You might want a single or 2 story home with a large open living room and kitchen. The other thing to consider is if you have baby who's crawling... there are a couple flights of stairs that you want to be prepared for. All in all... this home was perfect for a large group get away and you will not be disappointed!
