The breathtaking beauty of the 'Chain of Lakes' in Northern Michigan is at your fingertips! This stunning four-season vacation home on the all-sport Intermediate Lake is the perfect getaway spot for you, your family, and closest friends. Surrounded by 400 feet of private waterfront, and magnificently situated on a sandy peninsula, this 5-bedroom home has all that you'll need to enjoy lake front living.
Recreation Point is located in the beautiful city of Bellaire, MI just a few miles from the downtown area. Traverse City, Gaylord and Petoskey are all within a 45 minute drive from Recreation Point and the Grand Traverse Bay and the shores of Lake Michigan are even closer.
No matter what your interests are, Recreation Point is the perfect home base to take advantage of it all. Shanty Creek Resorts (including Schuss Mountain), which offers year-round activities including golf, downhill skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and Nordic skiing, is only a few miles away. If you enjoy the thrill of the hunt, Antrim County also boasts one of the highest populations of wild turkey in the state of Michigan. Flocks of these majestic birds are regularly seen around the area. In addition, Intermediate Lake is one of the prime fishing areas in Bellaire, MI. It is chalk full of Walleye, Perch, and Bass, and will provide hours of fun for the year-round fisherman. After a fun-filled day on the lake, or on the slopes, relax inside by the fireplace or outside by the bonfire and see if you can count the number of stars in the sky.

Amazing place for a family vacation
My family and I have stayed here twice. Once in the winter and again in the summer. We've had a great time both occasions. The pictures seriously don't do it justice. The swimming for kids is great because of the sand bar, especially for little ones. The house is very clean with practically everything you need besides groceries. Bellaire is a wonderful town with cute shops and Short's brewery which was a big hit with my husband. We did a few day trips to Charlevoix and to Sleepy Bear Dunes which was perfect with our little ones. The family that owns it has been great to work with. If we did run into anything they were just a phone call away and very helpful. I would recommend this to any family or even a group of friends who are looking for a relaxing week next to a peaceful lake.
Great House / Wonderful Location
We just returned from a week at Recreation Point with 4 boys (ages 9 - 16). The home and property exceeded our expectations - which is great when you are trying to make a decision on a vacation rental property based only on a on-line description and a few photos. Good layout, clean, roomy and well appointed with the latest in technology (big screen TV, surround sound, fast Wifi). The house in person is nicer than the photos on the website.
The location of the property is absolutely fabulous -- situated at a point on the lake (peninsula) with it's own sandy beach, sand bar, beach chairs and nearby BBQ & fire pit. Our boys spent hours each day in the water. Very nice porch facing the water and private boat dock. Lots of grass and trees surround the property which, given how it is situated, feels secluded -- almost like being on your own island. The lake itself is very picturesque with lots of sandy, shallow spots for swimming and it does not seem to get too crazy with boaters. Fishing was just so/so for us -- but we really did not try that hard nor are we expert anglers.
House is on a paved road in a nice neighborhood with the ability to go on long walks or bike rides. Bellaire is ~5 miles away with several good restaurants (Short's Brewery!) and shops. Also, within 45 minutes of Charlevoix, Elk Rapids and Lake Michigan.
We have been coming to Recreation Point for the last 4 years. We LOVE it there. Gwenn and David
have been incredible hosts. Their home is beautiful, and they go out of their way to insure their guest's utmost comfort. Over the years they have even made improvements to the home to keep it current and to make the whole experience nicer. We go with our two small children who love it. We also go with our parents. My mother who has severe asthma has no problem staying at Recreation Point because it is so clean and well kept. A great time is always had by young and old at Recreation Point. We would never stay anywhere else! Thank you, Gwenn and Dave, for years of great memories at Recreation Point!
Frustration with owners
Home was as represented, although air conditioning did not work well in the second story, so we just opened windows and didn't use air. The twin beds did not have slats to hold mattresses in securely. The outside frame support may have been sufficient for small children's movement in bed, but not adult movement! (3) dirty adult "Depends" were left under one bed from the previous occupants.
We were frustrated with the owners keeping our cleaning fee; we cleaned before we left, as we had been instructed, "leave the home as you found it".. The minor cleaning issues, (shower not wiped out, small utility room not swept), did not justify the amount withheld. Additionally, we were charged a significant amount for ostensible "ring" on the coffee table, that we were unaware of. Again, there didn't seem justification. We might have considered renting again, as the area is lovely, if not for the frustration of getting our full security deposit returned in a timely fashion , and losing our cleaning deposit, when we cleaned based on contract expectations.
Our contract specifically states that our home must be left clean and in the condition in which it was given to our renters. Our home is immaculate and we kindly ask that for those who rent to please clean our home and leave it as it was given to them. To ensure this happens, a cleaning deposit is required at the time of rental and is returned after inspection Our home was left spic and span clean for our renters. Upon returning to our home, we discovered a large gouge on the top of our coffee table, a broken shower head, a broken curtain rod and missing bed pillows. A portion of the security deposit was retained for the repairs/replacement of the broken items listed above. In addition, the home was not cleaned, all bathroom showers, floors and sinks were filthy and furniture had been moved around the family room to accommodate their family. We have rented our home for 5 years now, and we have never had an issue with anyone prior to this family and who did not get their cleaning deposit back. It was also discovered that the renters exceeded the number of allowed occupants by about six people for a family reunion. The Renters were in violation of the contract and could have had their entire security deposit retained for exceeding the number of occupants. We feel the renters are disgruntled and were clearly wrong and we would not have them back again after this anyway.
