Boathouse right on Flathead Lake w/ patio, deck and fire pit.
This unique waterfront property is the last surviving boathouse with living quarters above it. From the road you will walk down a wooded path to a private incline tram system that will carry you a hundred feet down to a world of lake shore living. When you get to the covered open-air deck, it is complete with a Weber gas BBQ, patio heater, table, chairs and a swing for two. In 2015 we added a new deck to the front of the Boathouse. Stepping through the sliding glass door you will see that the living level is decorated with fishing motif. In the corner is a wood stove which can be enjoyed from the overstuffed sofa-bed. The kitchen is well-furnished with cooking utensils and all appliances except for a dishwasher. There is an adorable bath with shower only. Up the winder staircase is a loft bedroom with queen bed and step-in closet plus a dormer niche with a bench. The dock and lake level of the property is shared with the property owners. You have your own boat slip and have full access to the dock, beaches, swim area, swim ladders, & canoe, (2) kayaks and a paddle boat.
New for 2018 boathouse now has Smart TV and WIFI !!!!!!!!!!!!
The boathouse level is totally private. The lower level with the dock and lake area of the property is shared with the property owners and their guests occasionally. You have your own boat slip and have full access to the dock, beaches, swim area and swim ladders. Guests may enjoy having a bonfire in the fire pit when there are no fire restrictions, though you will have to provide your own wood. The lakefront also has a romantic footbridge, patio area with picnic table. You are welcome to use the canoe, paddle boat and kayaks which are easily launched from the beach area.
Somers Bay Boathouse is conveniently located: 12 miles west of Bigfork which has live theater and dining; an hour from Glacier Park; 10 miles from historic downtown Kalispel; 5 miles from Lakeside which has a grocery store and dining; great restaurants are within 5 minutes driving toward downtown Somers. The street above the boathouse is part of a biking/walking path which takes you to historic Somers.

About Karen Bach
Earl and Karen are a middle aged couple with 2 collage students. We have owned the property for 18 years. Earl began remodeling the boathouse in 2003 and finished it in 2005. We thought we would use it more than we did and decided rather than have it stay empty, we would share it with others. Karen enjoys being your host, and we have a professional house keeper do our cleaning.
Karen Bach purchased this Cabin in 2001
Why Karen Bach chose Flathead Lake
Quiet, private setting, right on the water
What makes this Cabin unique
Where to start...the way the property is set up, it feels like we don't hardly have any neighbors, which contributes to the privacy. The view is gorgeous and changes constantly. There are many birds/water fowl, including bald eagles (though they don't come around as much once the osprey move in for the summer). Even though there is so much to do in the area, many guests claim they find it hard to leave the boathouse.

I love THE BOATHOUSE!
Love, love, love The Boathouse! Have been coming for at least 3 years. So relaxing and comfortable. Has everything I need and the view is spectacular, plus there are different birds and otters to watch. Karen is amazing. Checks on your needs and then leaves you to yourself, which is why I am there. Lots of things to do nearby including Glacier Park. My daughter likes to visit the nearby breweries and distillery. Take home gifts and great pie can be found at the Huckleberry Patch in Hungry Horse. I take my craft tote and go for "me" time. If this is what you are doing, I would bring an extra lamp for light after the sun goes down. Kalispell is close if you need anything. This is where I go to rejuvenate and get ready for what the next year has to bring. Thanks for everything, Karen and Earl. See you next year.
Thanks so much! We look forward to seeing you each year!
Fantastic views an great space!
We loved the boathouse! We wish would could have stayed longer. Great amenities, fun gondola down to the water, everything we needed for a short get away!thank you!
Relaxing on the lake
This was the best place to celebrate my 60th birthday. I wanted be on a lake and this boat house provided that! The house is surrounded by water on 3 sides, the sunrises and sunsets were beautiful. The house is well appointed. Only thing i wished for was warm weather so we could have enjoyed the kayaks. We'll have to come back in the summer.
Boathouse on Flathead Lake
Fabulous place to stay; quiet, comfortable, accommodating, very private, clean. Queen bed upstairs has a somewhat old mattress. We will stay there, again! Thank you for a great VRBO.
Thanks for the note. We just put in a new mattress for the 2018 season.
Great place to relax!
This place was awesome! My husband loves to fish and we arrived in the late afternoon. He caught a decent small mouth bass that evening! It was so neat to wake up to a beautiful sunrise over the lake! The place was clean, well stocked, and we got cell reception too. The BBQ and fire pit were added bonuses! It's not real private with all the glass as other guests using the docks midday and any boats going by can see directly in...but at my age (over 50) I'm not shy and could care less. I loved the A/C wall unit over the bed upstairs as I Iike background noise to sleep. The hot water will run out if you take an ultra long shower, but is fine otherwise. There is a flat screen TV with dish satellite, and a collection of CD's for extra entertainment, but why spoil that view! The owners were super nice and even recommended some places to go eat. Somers Bay Cafe is a must for breakfast! Even if you're trying to cut carbs, splurge and get the home-made toast! We enjoyed the boat house very much and will be back!
Thank you for the very kind yet objective review. We are happy for people to have an accurate understanding of what the place is like.
Great hideaway on the lake.
The boathouse was perfect in every detail! We all felt it was a special place. Quiet, beautifully sited on the water, with canoe and kayaks ready to go. I would love to spend a month!!
