WELCOME to Hawaiian-Style Get-a-Way. The rental is located in a nice quiet neighborhood on the lake. The property is close to the beach/bus/town. There is a good breeze that comes off the lake. From the backyard you can take an energetic kayak down to the the world renown Kailua Beach. It is about a 30 minute paddle. It has a Hawaiian-style, relaxed, calm feel to it.
THE VACATION RENTAL is attached to the back of my house. It is a Patio Apartment. The bedrooms are of course private and separate. As you enter the area there is a washer/dryer on your left as well as the kitchenette and bathroom. The living room area is an open air patio setting that opens up to the back yard over looking the lake with the Lanikai Mountains as a backdrop scenery. You can enjoy dinning at the table or relaxing on the patio furniture, with both activities you are able to enjoy the view of the back yard and the lake. Then on the other side of the patio are the bedrooms. The regular size bedroom sleeps two adults comfortably on a full/queen size bed. The larger bedroom sleeps 2 adults on a queen size bed. There is also a single roll away bed and 2 double mattresses that can be used on the floor. If you are feeling competitive you could challenge your opponent to a grueling ping pong match. Also on the property for your enjoyment are BOOGIE BOARDS, beach chairs, tennis racquets, and a double KAYAK. For those who only partially want to relax internet is available if you bring your lap top.
ENCHANTED LAKES is a great walking area with parks nearby for, basketball, kite flying, or ball throwing for stretching the legs. It is also a great area to bike around. It has a small local shopping center and a few dinning places. It is located 5 min away by car from Kailua Town.
KAILUA has one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, a long stretch of sand to walk along. If you are really adventurous there is wind surfing, kiteboard surfing, boogie boarding, body surfing, surfing, and kayaking. For a more sedative activity there is a beautiful walk along the beach, sunbathing, and tide pooling at Kailua beach. There are also some land activities to explore like hiking, tennis, golfing, and biking. Art gallery shopping is one of the many activities to enjoy in Kailua. It is a fun town to walk around, enjoying a variety of ethnic foods, local shops, coffee houses, and local desert places. If you are an early riser you could head down to the beach to watch the breath taking view of the sunrise at the beach.
ACTIVITIES are what the Island of Oahu is noted for. To mention a few: snorkeling, jet skiing, parasailing, glider flying, sky diving, sailing, boating, canoe paddling. You can pack up the family for a day spent at Sea Life Park, the Honolulu Zoo, The Aquarium, or Hanauma Bay. Some other beaches to visit are Waimea Beach, Sunset, Waikiki, Sandy, Lanikai, Makapu'u, Haleiwa, Makaha, and Ala Moana. On the more intellectual stimulating side there are historical/art museums, Arizona Memorial, Polynesian Cultural Center, live theatre, live performing night shows, musical entertainers, dinner show entertainment, to mention a few.
ENERGETIC : For those who are seeking exercise there are some excellent hiking trails not to miss for example Lanikai Pill Box, Makapu'u Light House ( good view to see whales in season), Koko Head Trail, St Louis Trail, Diamond Head Crater. Some hiking combination swimming trails are Jack Ass Ginger off the Old Pali Road, Maunawili Falls, Manoa Falls, Sacred Falls, and Waimea Falls.
MAHALO for taking the time to check out my vacation rental information. Hope to hear from you. ALOHA!

I am born and raised in Kailua. it is my favorite place to live and be on the island. I am a teacher by trade. I enjoy swimming at the beach, sailing, kayaking, and playing tennis. Here I am sky diving at Mokuleia Air Field. You can tell I am not the one smiling. Actually though at first I was freaked out of my mind however it turned out to be the most spectacular and fascinating activity I have ever done in my life. I am a living testimony to tell you that you don't feel that falling feeling since there is no point of reference for your eyes to tell your brain you are falling. I never would have believed it if I hadn't personally experienced it. Hawaii is a fascinating place to visit and experience a lot of outdoor healthy activities. Hope to see you here! Aloha! Elsa
The Owner purchased this house in 2004
Kailua has that very small town feel with the potential for big town activity choices very nearby. It is quaint, quiet, and picturesque. It is world renown for its beautiful beaches and breath-taking views from Lanikai Pill Box Look out. It is very common to see turtles while swimming or kayaking at the beach.
It has a very hawaiian style unique feel to it. Sipping coffee while taking the view of the back yard and lake. It is like having a huge glass window with out the glass to enjoy the outdoors. Being able to kayak from the backyard down to the beach is the most unique and distinct feature this vacation rental has to offer.
I enjoyed here. I hope to return here. Thank you for everything.
Elsa and your family thanks for everything.
I'll miss this place and you so much.
We really had no idea what this property would be like. AMAZING..is all I can say!! The property was everything and more. The majority of it is outside which was so nice!
There's so much to do. We rented bikes and were able to get anywhere we wanted, beach, super-market, restaurants all within 10-15 minutes away. Very safe neighborhood. The kayak is a huge bonus, took us 30 minutes to get to the beach and it's so beautiful and relaxing! The lake view is everything as well!
Elsa lives in the front unit so knowing that made us feel better, if something happened.
The only small complaint was the shower area needed a little bit if TLC.
Overall, great & highly recommended. Can't wait to go back!!
We loved staying here. It is exactly what is shown in the photos and it was perfect for our family of six (mom and dad and kids ages 15, 13, 11, 8). Elsa was really a gracious host and the rental is supplied with everything we needed. The bedrooms and bathroom are indoors and secure. The living room and kitchenette is outside covered by a roof, but open to the backyard. If I was in a hotel I would hate the idea of hanging out in my hotel room but at Elsa's you didn't mind hanging out and relaxing because you were outside by a river and the kids can play and you feel so peaceful. Kailua Beach is only a short drive away and it is really one of the nicest beaches I have ever been to.
The accommodations here are perfect for a family. Nothing is new or fancy, but everything is clean and useable. Her towels look like my towels you know. There was a little shed that contained a few lifejackets, some sand toys, a boogie board and a few other items for us to use. It was nice I didn't have to worry about bringing that kind of stuff. The kitchen is not a full kitchen, there are a few appliances, a toaster oven and a hot plate for cooking etc. We did cook most of our own food (food is expensive in Hawaii, go to Costco and stock up). We used the barbecue and other appliances and were able to cook everything just fine.
I will be recommending this place to friends and maybe one day we will be back. Thank you Elsa for everything!
Was a great experience for our family. We really enjoyed the closed proximity to the lake and felt safe and secure the whole time. We also discovered a park within a short walking distance that was great for my two young kids. Looking forward to coming back the next opportunity we get.
Our family of six spent eight days at Elsa's property in June/July 2014. I will give a straight forward review. I grew up in Kailua and was looking for a property that would give our children an understanding and appreciation for the way I grew up. I wanted them to know the quiet windward side of the island, and have the chance to interact with local people, not the Waikiki crowd. Elsa's property was the perfect choice.
- Wonderful property owner. Elsa is kind and accommodating. She's also careful not to intrude. In fact you may never even know she's there. She embodies the meaning of the word ALOHA. She greeted us with fresh pineapple, macadamia nut candy and Kona coffee.
- The property itself is quiet and unique. It's very important to note the kitchenette and living room are an open-air patio that look out over an inland canal. It's very pretty and relaxing but the neighbors across the canal can watch you make breakfast. Not a problem for us because this is how I grew up, but it may be disconcerting for some people.
- Elsa has a big closet with toys, chairs, ice chests and other things for the beach.
- Two words that best describe this property are QUIET and RELAXING.
- While the bedrooms do have fans, they don't have air conditioners. There's usually a breeze but if the day is unusually hot the rooms can be somewhat stuffy.
- The bed in the smaller room is only full size not a queen so it can be tight for 2 adults.
In short, Elsa's property was a great choice for us. It coupled a laid-back "windward side of the island" lifestyle with easy access to 5 star beaches, and an easy 15 minute drive over the mountains to Honolulu and Waikiki. What more could we ask for? Mahalo Elsa! We'll be back!
Very nice! Yes,it has an open area, but it's just what's needed, extension of the room is your own big lawn and your descent to the river! No neighbours, you can sit and relax, you can spend all day at the fresh air with all the convenience of being at home. It was so comfortable that often we even didn't want to move and go anywhere at all. Very spacious place (we were 3 people). Landlady is so nice and I saw her only 1 time at the first day. You'll need a car to get to the beach, but it is 5 min drive.
Our family had a wonderful time in this home. This property provided the perfect alternative to camping with comfortable beds and TV's in enclosed bedrooms, yet an open air feel in the common living areas with a roof overhead that kept us dry when it rained. The host was very flexible in accommodating our large family. We loved the huge back and side yards with the long clothesline and the hot outdoor shower. We rented paddle boards which were delivered to our door and took them and the double kayak down to the beach. It was a fantastic way to enjoy some relaxed family time. The neighborhood felt safe and the view of the mountains and water was so refreshing to wake up to every day. If you're looking for polished or fancy, this is not the place for you, but if you are relaxed and love living outdoors, then look no further.
