Why Jane Giles chose Hancock Point

My grandfather had this cottage built and it is the cottage we have returned to for almost every summer since I was born.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is very peaceful and private, and yet it's well connected to the rest of Hancock Point with its library, tennis courts and wharf as well as the Crocker House Inn. There are woods for children to play in and space in the yard for croquet games. The cottage also has its own access to the shore, with a two-seater Adirondack chair just above the beach (with great views of the mountains of Acadia National Park) and then wooden stairs down to the beach. On the beach to the left, our family's main beach, there's a big rock that becomes an island or a ship when the tide is in, and there's also a reef full of tide pools with crabs, snails and starfish in them, so it's great fun for children. There is a sandy area great for sand building sand castles and cities. We love it.

Inviting cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

This cabin in the woods was remarkably inviting for our family reunion. Light, bright interior in pine wood, clean, tastefully decorated with comfort in mind, complete kitchen, and a screened porch fronting on pine woods that we especially enjoyed. Within walking distance are tennis courts, beach, town wharf and supurb dining at country inn. We enjoyed biking, kayaking, beach combing, berry picking along quiet country roads and all that Acadia National Park has to offer. Owner was most helpful and pleasant to work with. A great private getaway or base for exploring the Maine coast. We did both.

Wonderful quiet cottage, dog friendly - no better place

  • 5 of 5

The Crosby Cottage was perfect for my husband and I! The kitchen was fully equipped, the sun porch was incredible, and the neighborhood devine. The beach was always only ours and perfect for sunsets!

We came to stay to travel to Acadia for our elopement. The drive there is worth the seclusion you get staying on Hancock; plus the easy access you have to Schoodic and Petit Manan. We enjoyed the beach immensely. Our dog, Pippi enjoyed watching critters run around in the yard from the sun porch. The neighborhood was quiet and when you did see anyone, they were very friendly. There are woods behind the cottage and across the street. The stars are amazing at night from the rocking bench perched on the lawn.

Jane was very easy to contact and we would gladly stay here again!

A perfect scenic and comfortable cabin in the Maine woods with easy access to the shore as well.

  • 5 of 5

My return to Hancock Point where I spent so many summers in the home of my grandparents was enhanced by the comfort and attractiveness of this cabin. Hancock Point is a gem of a place which has happily stood still over time. It was wonderful to enjoy the wild life ( saw a wild turkey and her brood of about 10 chicks ) , deer, and lots of beach life where I spent many hours as a child. We enjoyed a sail, kayaking, and visiting Schoodic, Acadia, and the special places at Hancock Point, library, the Crocker House. The cabin is well equipped and kept, and I would return many times if I could.

The cottage was a perfect vacation spot for a family. I loved the sunroom and we spent a lot of time at the beach collecting sea glass. I was very impressed with the property!
