Sleepy Bear is a stunning mountain retreat with a 500k acre backyard known as Pisgah Nat'l Forest. Centrally located 25 min from Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and much more. Enjoy views of Grandfather Mtn. from the oversized deck, grab a book from the library, play in the game room, or hike from the front yard to two beautiful waterfalls. We’ve designed the home so everyone can find a cozy space they’ll love with those they love!

We are thrilled to share this special place with our guests. We have put our hearts into renovating this home with our kids along side + our whole family in mind. It has been an incredible family affair and we are so excited to host you and yours.

Our hope is that you find this place as magical as we do. Sleepy Bear Lodge offers a special glimpse into the Blue Ridge experience. You’ll drive along the country’s first scenic byway, US 221, towards our neighborhood and catch waterfalls, lookouts and amazing views of the Blue Ridge from either direction. The home is thoughtfully decorated with local art and we took care to honor the history of the land this home was settled on in the 1800’s. The front yard features the original chimney and fireplace which the settlers of this land built. It's truly an experience. With that said, we invite you to slow down, sip coffee on the deck overlooking Grandfather Mountain, pick up a book, make s'mores at the fire pit, take a hike, enjoy your company and create lifelong memories.

KITCHEN
Granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and a large two sided sink with pull out spout. The kitchen is fully stocked with several sets of dishes, kid-friendly tableware, and barware to meet all needs! The space includes pots, pans, mixing bowls and a large Boos Block perfect for prep and entertaining. There is a great island with storage and stools for hanging out in the kitchen. We have left one set of cabinets empty for you to be able to store your pantry items.

There is a 12 cup drip coffee maker and also a Keurig available. We do provide a few k-cups upon arrival and coffee filters for the drip coffee maker! We also have a coffee bean grinder. There is an electric kettle and a tea sampler for you to enjoy during your stay.

LIVING ROOM
Roku TV for streaming and Samsung TV Plus is available. The fireplace in this room is wood burning. Wood and small firestarters are included in your stay. Dimmer wall lights and wrap around windows to accommodate any mood. There are floorboard heaters and a Rinnai heater in this room for heat which is on a thermostat. Two cozy bean bag chairs are included in the space.

FAMILY ROOM
Roku TV for streaming and Samsung TV Plus is available. There is an Xbox 360, puzzles and lots of family games. The fireplace in this room is gas. The sectional couch in this room can be used as a full bed! Full set of bedding is included. There is a half bathroom off the family room.

OFFICE
Stocked with books and a cozy workspace with a sunny window, this is a great spot to check email, finish lingering school assignments or take a phone call!

LOFT
Queen bed and full size bed located in the loft at the top of the spiral staircase. Dresser, sound machine and fan is available for extra coziness. There is no closet. Window AC unit is installed for warm nights.

UPSTAIRS KING SUITE
King size bed with memory foam mattress. USB outlets and power outlets located in the top drawer of nightstands for convenience. Gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows make this one of our favorite spots. Sound machine and bedside lamps are available along with complimentary sleep masks (it gets bright!). This room features a vast collection of books to enjoy while you are our guests. Small desk is featured along with two sitting chairs for reading and a gas fireplace controlled by thermostat. There is also a window AC unit in this room for summer nights although it's rarely necessary!

This bedroom has a full bathroom complete with shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

DINING ROOM
Dining room table is located off of the living room with seating for 8. Easy access to kitchen and covered deck. Folding chairs are located in the garage if needed.

FIRST FLOOR KING BEDROOM
Featuring a beautiful gas fireplace and sitting area. Memory foam mattress, ceiling fan, sound machine and dimmable bedside lights are in the space for maximum comfort. The room is heated by a Rinnai heater in this room for heat which is controlled by the thermostat. Two closets.

FIRST FLOOR FULL BATH
Right off of the king bedroom (not connected) there is a full bath with shampoo, conditioner and body wash available.

BUNK ROOM
Twin top bunk, Full lower bunk and twin trundle bed. Large walk in closet. Two hanging chairs for cozy kid spots and an electric fireplace in this room for heat. There is a door to the backyard from this room that we typically keep locked.

BACK QUEEN BEDROOM
Queen size bed. Large closet, sound machine and ceiling fan. This room has an exterior door that leads under the deck.

FOYER BATHROOM
Full bathroom with shower only. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are available for guests.

LAUNDRY ROOM
Features washer / dryer and garden sink. Two hampers and iron / ironing board are included. You can find a few detergent pods and the first aid kit in the cabinet! Also a beautiful view of the front yard and driveway.

GARAGE / GAME ROOM
Two car garage with interior door to the house. There is a half bathroom in this space. Our game room shares a space with the garage and includes a full size pool table and darts. Lots of seating available and manual garage door opens up for maximum fun during the warm months!

OUTDOOR SPACE
An incredible view of Grandfather Mountain from the deck. You can watch the sunset and enjoy peace of the mountains! A large partially covered deck features outdoor string lights and a large dining table. Doors to the deck are located off the dining room and living room. Propane grill featured in the space and 4 rocking chairs to take in the view. A small picnic table with umbrella is featured on the other end of the deck which overlooks the front yard and firepit area.

Our firepit is located in the front yard in front of the original fireplace built in the 1800's by the settlers of our property. With 8 chairs and log tables, it's the perfect spot for s'mores and good conversation. We have a stone circle which we place a portable wood burning firepit into that cuts down on smoke. It’s the perfect spot for a s’more! Sleepy Bear Lodge sits on one acre and is incredibly private. We do have neighbors and ask that guests are respectful of noise.

Off of the property there is an amazing hiking trail that leads to a few waterfalls and swimming holes! Definitely worth exploring with the whole family.
