HUGE! Belize Vacation Lodge, 1 to 6 Private Cottages Plus Fully Equipped Kitchen

Hickatee Cottages is a Belize Tourism Board GOLD STANDARD CERTIFIED PROPERTY RENTAL. We offer 6 cottage houses in this private rental exclusive for the use of your party. Cottage room rates are US$165-$185 per cottage with a max nightly rate of all 6 cottages for US$860 (excluding taxes and fees). Check out hickatee.com for more information.

Booking fees will be calculated on cottage room(s) occupied and additional charges will be charged at check-out:
- Catered meal plans
- Housekeeping laundry services
- Assistance with tours and activity planning

Hickatee Cottages is a quaint jungle property rental approximately 1.5 miles from the Punta Gorda town in southern Belize, Central America. Built in 2005 on 20 acres, it has been created with minimal impact to the environment, and maximum benefit to the community by using local contractors, labor, and suppliers. A small part of the land had been cleared several years before for small-scale farming and it is only this area which has been re-developed for the Cottages. The ‘lion’s share’ of Hickatee Cottages is in its original natural state, with many large trees and lush vegetation and is home to an array of wildlife – howler monkeys, toucans, hummingbirds, blue morpho butterflies, and more!

We are outside of the Punta Gorda city limits and we are off-grid, predominately solar-powered, with comfortable rooms, a low-key relaxed atmosphere and custom service for any group travel need.

Hickatee Cottages 6 cottage houses ranges in size. Each house has its own entrance and en-suite facilities, including fully screened windows for excellent ventilation, ceiling fans, hot/cold showers, hammocks and comfortable beds. The property also includes a separate house for the gathering area with a self-catering, fully equipped kitchen, dining and bar areas, and library! We have plenty of seating to relax with a book from our library or sit at the bar, and to come together for a group meal on the outdoor verandah.

The Toledo District has so much to offer any traveler. Go snorkeling, fly fishing, visit Maya Archeological sites, jungle hike, cave and kayak, river-tube and zip-line, head to the Belize Spice Farm or visit a cacao farm. Depending on interests, budget and preferred travel style there are options for all!

Our family of 10 just returned from Belize, and our stay at Hickatee was truly amazing. The flowers and wildlife were breathtaking—every day, hummingbirds would visit and linger nearby. We even had the unique opportunity to watch butterflies hatch from their cocoons during our stay.Alison went above and beyond to make our visit special. The property was immaculate and beautiful, creating the perfect setting for our trip. The meals she arranged for our breakfasts and dinners were absolutely delicious. She also connected us with a local guide, Jose, who provided a very personalized experience for our excursions. He was wonderful, knowledgeable, and added so much to our time there.All 10 of us (ranging in age from 21 to 60) would highly recommend staying here. Hickatee Cottages and Alison truly made it a special and unforgettable vacation!

Beautiful property, great host

The property itself was gorgeous. Our stay was peaceful and relaxing. And Allison is a wonderful host. She was friendly and helpful, and made out stay everything we wanted. I look forward to staying here again in the future.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay and can’t recommend this property enough. The gardens were beautifully kept, lush, peaceful, and clearly cared for with great attention to detail. It created such a relaxing atmosphere from the moment we arrived.The kitchen was fully stocked and truly had everything we needed. Whether it was cooking a full meal or just preparing snacks for the group, we never found ourselves lacking anything.One of the highlights for our group was the setup of individual cottages for each couple. It gave everyone their own private space while still allowing us to gather together easily. It struck the perfect balance between privacy and connection.We also really enjoyed the walking trails around the property. They were scenic, quiet, and a great way to unwind in the mornings or evenings.Overall, this was an exceptional stay, thoughtfully designed, well-equipped, and incredibly relaxing. We would absolutely come back again.

Peaceful jungle retreat

We recently traveled to Punta Gorda with our two young children and had an wonderful stay at the Hickatee. The off-grid property is not far from town but feels like a peaceful retreat in the jungle. We loved hearing howler monkeys! The grounds include a jungle path where you can explore and look for wildlife, a small splashing pool the kids loved, and a relaxing sitting area nearby. You also have access to the main house where you can cook for yourself, make coffee, use the fridge, relax and play games. The cottages were charming and comfortable. There’s no air conditioning, but we didn’t miss it. The only small issue we had was regulating the water temperature in the shower.Our host, Allison, was fantastic. Before we arrived, she helped us arrange all of our tours, which made planning so much easier. Once we arrived, she kept us updated about the tours. Her communication made everything feel effortless. One of the highlights of staying at the Hickatee is access to the butterfly farm. It’s a fascinating experience where you can learn about the life cycle and business of butterflies. We also opted for the meal plan and are so glad we did. Allison is a wonderful cook and went above and beyond to accommodate our family’s food allergies and intolerances. I never had to worry about reactions, and honestly, I haven’t eaten that well in a long time.Hickatee felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend!

Wunderschön und mit Herzblut geführt

Wir haben eine Woche in der Sweet Suite verbracht. Allison ist eine großartige Gastgeberin. Sie kocht hervorragend, hat uns in den Ort mitgenommen und unsere Ausflüge organisiert. Toledo ist noch sehr ursprünglich und wir haben viel gesehen. Das Gelände der Cottages ist schön gestaltet und vom Dschungel umgeben. Man hört die Brüllaffen und Papageien, kann auf den Dschungel Trails wandern und beim Frühstück auf der Terrasse Kolibris beobachten. Es war ungewöhnlich heiß als wir dort waren aber wir haben trotzdem gut geschlafen. Das Bett war super bequem und durch die zu allen Seiten offenen Fenster mit Insektenschutz und die großen und leisen Deckenventilatoren war es immer angenehm im Cottage. Eine Klimaanlage braucht man dort wirklich nicht. Der exklusive Ausflug zur Schmetterlingsfarm ist sehr zu empfehlen. Insgesamt gibt es so viel zu sehen, dass eine Woche viel zu schnell vorbei war. Wir sind jetzt in Placencia an Strand. Hier ist es auch sehr schön, aber wir vermissen den Dschungel und Allison. Wenn Belize für uns nicht so weit weg wäre, würden wir ganz bestimmt wieder Urlaub in den Hickatee Cottages machen.
