The Whale House
I has been perfect for my getaway! The street is quiet. It is in walking distance to so many places to explore. The house is adorable and cozy. I will definitely be back!
Beach was amazing
We booked this property for a long weekend at the beach. It is within walking distance to the bakery. The beds are comfortable, and the property owner is thoughtful with many convenient things available in the house. Perfect place to stay with a family.
All the comforts of home!
"Dated" but so my style "Less is More" The untold story the house could tell if the walls could speak. The neighborhood setting. Island history, chance meetings, and location was everything we hoped for, and more. Basic cooking and baking needs in the cupboard for me.
We have truly enjoyed our stay at The Whale House! It's a small, clean, cozy little house with everything you need. I will say, make sure you have plenty of bug spray because the mosquitos are HORRIBLE on this island! If we are ever back on Dauphin Island, we will be back to the Whale House!
Our Dauphin Island Stay
My daughter and I were in Dauphin Island for the week for her to attend the Sea Lab there. I needed a more quiet space to work and just rest, and this place filled the bill in every way.
Awesome! Thanks for choosing to stay with us.
Dauphin Island is a barrier island located three miles south of the mouth of Mobile Bay in the Gulf of Mexico. Entry to the island is made by crossing a three mile long, high rise bridge. An automobile ferry from the eastern shore provides another entry point from Gulf Shores, AL. The island is approximately 14 miles long and 1 ¾ miles wide at the widest point. It is estimated that 1300 permanent residents call Dauphin Island home. The number of residents soars during vacation and holiday times. The entire Island has been designated as a bird sanctuary. Many attractions are located on the east end of the island including a Civil War fort, the Dauphin Island Sea Lab and Estuarium, Audubon Bird Sanctuary and numerous boat launch sites. The Island's beautiful beaches of sugar white sand, public golf course and parks are added attractions located on the west end of the island. Together they make Dauphin Island a wonderful laid-back resort destination.
