Overview

About the property

Private House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 5-6)

This comfortable, contemporary home is located in one of Sedona's most stunningly beautiful areas. If you're looking for quiet solitude, you'll find it here -- yet all the restaurants and services of Sedona are just a three-mile drive away.

This contemporary home has simple elegance with excellent flow, having been designed in consultation with feng shui master Valmai Howe Elkins. Completed in 2006, it won the 'People's Choice' for best house on the Sedona Art and Architecture Tour that year.

The entire house has great natural light, no matter what time of year you stay. Winter sunlight streams through southern windows, and summer patios are shaded and cool with natural ventilation. This is a green passive solar home built with ultra low voc materials, and also features ample conventional heating/cooling systems.

Downstairs you'll enjoy an open plan living room/dining room with 12-foot high ceilings and comfortable leather sofas. A gorgeous modern kitchen features all stainless steel appliances and stone countertops, as well as a separate wine bar. Throughout this main living area you'll find engineered maple hardwood floors, hand-made wool rugs, Italian leather sofas and HD satellite video. There's also a guest room downstairs with full bath, perfect for the visitor who requires additional privacy.

Upstairs you'll have your pick of two large master suites. Each comes with its own large deck, queen size bed, full bathroom and walk-in closet. The western suite has its own private entrance, small kitchenette, and large Roman style soaking tub. The eastern suite includes a very private outdoor bathtub with full view of the red rock bluff, which is part of the unique property.

About Glendon Good

Hi, my name is Glendon and I have been a resident of Sedona for 16 years. Having lived in many places in my life, including Los Angeles, San Francisco and internationally, I can truly say that Sedona is a unique and magical place. So when I discovered this amazing property, complete with its own gigantic red rock, I knew this was the place to build my dream house. I currently live next door to the house with my two chocolate labradors, Charlie and Coko. I am an artist specializing in creating high-end functional art and sculptures. I enjoy hiking and running the trails in and around Sedona.

Why Glendon Good chose West Sedona

Sedona is an astonishingly beautiful place to be. Living here is akin to camping in nature where wildlife and nature abound, yet with most of the amenities I enjoy such as good restaurants, supermarkets and coffee houses. Sedona is truly a spectacular place.

What makes this house unique

This property is located in a special area of Sedona along Red Rock Loop Road. Originally this was one of the first areas to be homesteaded and farmed in the 1800's. Today there is a delightful mix of luxury homes among farms and working ranches. Nearby, the creek rolls through the red rocks providing a rich contrast between the lush green pastures and dramatic red rocks. Excellent hiking trails out the door take you to high ridgetops with views of Cathedral Rock, Thunder Mountain and the vast National forest. Cool off with a dip in the creek and explore its natural beauty.

Map

This contemporary home is located in an exquisite rural setting 3 miles from downtown Sedona. It is a quiet location where the sounds of birds are often the loudest things heard. If you enjoy the outdoors, hiking, bicycling, running and breathing in the natural beauty, then you will likely enjoy this special place.

A unique, modern house in a beautiful setting that isn't for everyone.

  • 4 of 5

First, the good news; House was large, clean and the setting was very nice a few miles out of town. If your pleasure is idiosyncratic modern architecture with minimalist furnishings this is the place for you. Large multi-level deck area. Nice landscaping. Owner personally involved. Neutral; One small tv in dining/living area which we had trouble using. 2 nice dogs on property. Kitchen not horribly equipped but not best either. Not so good; I felt the house was not user friendly. The stairs are hard on bare feet. Furnishings are bare and the house did not exude warmth with its modern design. The 2 nice dogs on property had quite a time hunting a racoon one night. Some of the design elements of house did not work for me such as no mirror over sink in a bathroom. In summary; either you will love this house or you wont. For me it was an interesting experience .

I cannot say enough about what an amazing, tranquil, stunning and breathtaking place this is. Glendon has created a masterpiece built in to the red earth. Attention to detail in every way. You could feel the positive energy flowing through every room! Beautiful mornings, hikes, walks, bike rides, yoga, evenings by the fire. Wow, just wow. Glendon was a perfect host. The house was more spectacular in person!! The pictures don't do it justice!

  • 5 of 5

Glendon was an awesome host and the house was magic. Having the red rocks of Sedona surrounding us was amazing! There was an amazing energy in the home and Glendon and his 2 chocolate labs to greet us made our stay very special. Every detail in the home was well thought out. The location was great. Only minutes to downtown Sedona but very private and quiet. Great hiking right out the front door. We had dinner at LaAuberge our last night in Sedona and we're excited to see a sculpture created by Glendon. Great artist and put his heart and spirit into a lovely home we will never forget! We will be back for sure!!

Sedona Cliff House was amazing

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for views, peace and quiet, in a beautiful, contemporary home, this is the house for you. Nestled at the base of a cliff, the aptly named Cliff House provided expansive views and privacy. Everywhere you turn in the house, the thought that went into its design is evident. The multi-level decks provide ample space to relax and enjoy the Arizona sunshine. One of my favorite parts of this visit was sitting on the deck in the early morning watching the sun make its way across the red rocks and the balloons rising. It was so still, I could hear the burners from the balloons. At night, the decks provide the perfect perch from which to stargaze and watch the moon rise. After a long day of hiking, the outdoor tub provides relief for sore muscles and a wonderful spot to listen to the night chorus.

Located just a few miles from shopping and dining, this home provided the perfect home base for day trips. The home itself had everything we needed and was immaculate. With 3 bedrooms and as many baths, and an open concept living area, it comfortably fit our party of 4 but could easily accommodate more. The kitchen was well equipped and made preparing meals a snap. The owner, Glendon, greeted us when we arrived, showed us around and made sure we had his number if we had any questions. One caveat: although the wifi was good, cell service was spotty. No service on AT&T but Verizon was ok.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to make a return visit before too long. We highly recommend this home.
