One of the best vacation areas for the whole family is located in the westernmost part of Denmark. Beyond the wide, white sandy beaches that invite you to take long, relaxing walks, the nature here also offers you large, unspoiled areas of open nature, heath and forest. Admire the dunes of Kærgård Plantation, a hilly landscape with heather and gnarled old oaks, and Skallingen is a protected peninsula off Blåvand with views of Esbjerg and Fanø. Here the animal life is very rich, and among other things there is the largest population of red deer in the plantations behind Blåvand. Blåvand is also a popular vacation destination for many migratory birds, which rest or feed here and on Skallingen. There are many activity possibilities here for all ages. The great nature invites you to cycling and hiking tours, and here are ideal conditions to play golf, fly kites, or try beach volleyball, bowling, horseback riding, tropical adventure pools and much more. Here you can also enjoy excellent fishing, whether in a river, a put-and-take lake or in the open sea. The town of Blåvand is a lively resort with a cozy and uncomplicated atmosphere, many stores and especially good places to eat. Many artists and craftsmen live here, such as ceramists, art painters, amber cutters and candle casters, who directly process the raw materials in their workshops. Everywhere in the countryside you will encounter small organic farms and farm stores, and West Jutland is not without reason known as the larder of Denmark. To live centrally in relation to the many attractions and sights, this vacation home is the perfect place. Visit cities such as Esbjerg, the country's fifth largest, where you can expect a bustling commercial and cultural life, exciting restaurants, galleries and excellent shopping. Here you will also find the Fisheries and Maritime Museum, the West Jutland Amber Museum, an art museum, and the imposing nine-meter-high monumental sculpture Man by the Sea. South of Esbjerg is Ribe, Denmark's oldest city, which is also worth a visit. But also closer to the cottage there is much to discover such as Blåvand Zoo, the Fire Museum, the wonderful Amber Museum of Oksbøl and Blåvand Naturcenter, which is especially aimed at the youngest guests. And also notice that you can get to LEGOLAND in Billund and the lion park Givskud Zoo in only about an hour by car.
