About Cassy Emery

John and I traveled North for years from the Flint area to vacation in the family cabin near the banks of the AuSable river in the little lumbering town of McKinley. While taking a Sunday drive we stumbled on a deserted farm with 80 acres, it was pretty run down at the time but we loved it and just like that we made an offer, went home and sold our home in Flint, moved the family "up-north" to enjoy the good life! We named our hobby farm Jocacherra which represents the first two letters of the family's name. After raising our three children in the area we now are the proud grandparents of 14 grandchildren...how time flies!"

Years later, we sold the family farm and purchased 40 acres of land deep in the wood, John built the cabin out on a beautiful ridge and renamed it the Jocacherra Lodge, and a few years later he built our permanent home just down the trail. That's when we decided to open our cabin to guests and let others enjoy the same experiences of vacationing up north.

Although sadly, none of our 3 children live in the area now, they all enjoy coming home to spend time with us. "We love it up here and think you will too!"

Why Cassy Emery chose Mio

Seclusion, the sounds of nature, time to think, unwind, kick back and relax! Enjoy a leisurely walk in the woods, take a drive to the Beautiful Ausable river for a float trip or cast your line in the water for some fly fishing excitement. Evenings can be spent soaking in the hot tub, sharing a glass of wine, while viewing the stars and the sounds of the forest. Enjoy morning coffee on the deck and if your lucky you might hear the call of the Loons from nearby Perry Lake. Antiques decorate the cabin and send you back to a time gone by. Everyone loves this place!

Beautiful cabin retreat- wilderness perfection.

We had such a wonderful time at the lodge! The cabin was very spacious, clean, organized, and well-stocked. The property was stunning as well. We will definitely return someday to this woodland oasis. Thank you so much to our gracious hosts!

Totally in love!

  • 5 of 5

I love this place so much I don't want anyone else to know about it! Just had my second visit to the Lodge and will definitely be back. The folks who own it are great, the lodge is pristine, we were barely aware there were other people in the world during our stay. Couldn't ask for better!

We loved our stay in this cabin! The owners were very kind and quick to respond with any questions we had. Walking the trails around the property and relaxing in the hot tub was delightful.

Great place to relax!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were looking for a place that would provide us with an opportunity to disconnect and de-stress for a few days. I have to say we couldn't have found anything better. The privacy and "back to nature" setting was wonderful. Wildlife was abundant and the bird watching was very nice as well. You don't hear anything but the rustle of the breeze through the trees and the sound of the birds. This, combined with the included hot tub, was exactly what we were looking for. The cabin was nicely appointed as well. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend staying here, especially if you want to get away and just relax for a few days.
