About the property

6 Bedrooms and 1 loft. With 2 full Baths and 2 half baths. (Sleeps 18-20)

The South Shore Resort was built in 1909, we tried to preserve the past so each cabin is decorated with the olden days in mind along with the necessities of today. There are 4 cabins, the main Lodge, and 100' of private sandy beach here on our 3 acres of picket fenced in land. The entire Resort will sleep 48 comfortably in the beds, and 52 including the sofa sleepers. Each cabin is its own little home with different sleeping arrangements and separate costs, and designed to make you feel comfortable.

Here is a description of our cabins:

Eagle Cabin: This two story cabin will sleep 12 peacefully. There are two bedrooms on the main level, one with a queen and the other with two queen beds. The upper level offers a queen bed on the landing and four twin beds in the bedroom. 1 1/2 baths, full kitchen and living area on the main level. This cabin is great for families that like to vacation together. The Eagle Cabin is finished in knotty pine, with scenic views of Twin Lake. $1300 for the week, all cabins plus 6% MI room tax.

Bluejay Cabin: This cute 3 bedroom cabin sleeps 6 peacefully, 3 bedrooms with a queen in each, with a full bath, full kitchen, and a sofa sleeper in the living room for that extra family member. This cabin sits 10ft behind the Eagle cabin, giving you a great view of the sunsets over Twin Lake from the living room. $1200 for the week.

The Eagle and The Bluejay cabins sit 15ft from one another and are ideal for families who missed out on booking the Lodge, but still need all that room for a great price!

Sparrow Cabin: This sizable 2 bedroom cabin sleeps 8-10 peacefully, 2 bedrooms with 2 queen beds in each and a sofa sleeper in the living room. Full bath with shower/tub and full kitchen/family area. The complete kitchen is perfect for preparing meals to enjoy on the deck. $1200 for the week.

Wren Cabin: This cabin is perfect for a quiet family getaway. Each bedroom offers a queen bed along with a futon in the living room sleeping 4-6 peacefully. Full bath and kitchen. $850 for the week.

The Sparrow and Wren cabins are situated across the parking lot from the other 3 accommodations. Together, they sit 35ft from one another. They share their own fire pit, swing, and pavilion for that meal with the family spent outside.

**These are the weeks and accommodations we have available for next season;

June 17th-24th: Eagle, Bluejay, Sparrow and Wren

August 12th-19th: Eagle, Bluejay, and Sparrow

August 19th-26th: Bluejay, Sparrow and Wren

August 26th- Sept 1st: Eagle, Bluejay, Sparrow and Wren

Because we do let our current families get first choice if they'd like to rebook their week and cabins for the next season, with 85% of our families returning, our Lodge is always the first to book up, however, it is one of a kind. Uniquely designed, you will always see something interesting within the walls.

The Lodge is 4000 square feet and has more space than you will ever need. The main level has 4 bedrooms each with a queen bed along with two half baths. Full kitchen, dining and living area.

The second level has 3 bedrooms. One room has a king bed with an attached bath with shower, one with two queen beds with an attached bath with shower/tub, and one with king and queen beds with an attached bath with shower.

This property is truly the perfect place for a large family or groups that are looking to spend time together.

All cabin rentals include the use of our canoes, row boats, kayaks', fire pits, shuffle board, bikes, recreational garage, gas grills, TV channels, VCR/video library, towels, children's playground, bikes, volleyball, basketball and much more.

This area features countless opportunities such as golf courses, amusement/water parks, theaters, nature trails, festivals, shopping, horseback riding, antique malls, museums, bike trails, arts and craft shows, dining, breweries, sand dunes and of course the incredible sunsets over Lake Michigan!

This property is ideally located just east of Muskegon. The South Shore Resort is the perfect destination for the family in search of both recreation and relaxation!

Great Escape!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a four night stay in August. By the time I booked in Feb/March, only the two smaller cabins were left, but we were able to fit two families of 4-5 members each into each cabin. The cabins were very clean. AC unit in one and central air in the other. Paper towels, toilet paper, and a few dish towels, wash cloths and larger towels provided in a laundry basket. You could leave the basket out with dirty towels and a request for replenished paper products on Monday and Thursday. Lots of dishes and utensils provided. You can tell the owner, Jeff, and his family takes great pride in this property. Jeff lives onsite and can be seen often doing work around the grounds. Very friendly and talkative :). It looked like there were maybe two other family groups on the property at the same time, but it never felt crowded. There is a nice sized beach, lots of grassy areas for the kids to run and play and a "game garage" complete with bikes of all sizes (bring helmets), foosball, shuffleboard and a few other things. Water smelled a little funny (maybe just because we are city folk!) Water pressure and temperature were good. We drank bottled water. Meijer is just off the main expressway about 10 min down the road. There is a mom and pop corner store a two minute walk if you need pop, chips, etc. but I wouldn't do big shopping there. Bring your own fishing poles. There were canoes and kayaks to use and some provided sand toys, noodles and a few inflatables. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return!

Great place for Family Reunions!

  • 5 of 5

We had our week long family reunion here and it was the perfect place!! Each family had there own rooms, but enjoyed sharing the big den and kitchen area. The lake was beautiful!! We all enjoyed playing in the beach area, kayaking and fishing in the lake. In the evening, we built a bon fire on the beach and made smores. The recreation/massive game room had lots of things to do...ping pong table, fooseball and pinball machine. There were plenty of bikes to ride for all ages. We had a wonderful relaxing family reunion! I would highly recommend!!!

Great place to spend your summer!

  • 5 of 5

I have known about the South Shore Resort for many years, but just as of last summer inquired about it. It looks like a completely different resort since Jeff took it over 9 yrs. ago. He has done so much to make it a home away from home for everyone. This summer I finally got to use the facilities for myself. We had our family reunion here and it was so much fun. You don't have to leave the resort at all if you don't want too. It has everything you need from swimming in the lake to kayaking, boating, fishing, children playing in the sand and me relaxing on the beach in the warm sun. There's a play ground for the children, shuffle board, ping-pong, bicycling, basketball and much more. And you are a walk away from an ice-cream store which my grandchildren enjoyed. The best part of all is watching the sunset over the lake. Gorgeous! Thanks Jeff for making it our home away from home. See ya again I'm sure!

Wonderful place for family reunions.

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time staying at South Shore Resort, and we're already booked for next year. The cottages and lodge are perfect for family reunions. The cottages are very clean, and the grounds expertly maintained. There's a lot of space for people to get together but still have their own family time. The resort is furnished with bikes, canoes, a fire pit, picnic tables, grills, and plenty of games. The lake is the perfect size and is warm! The staff is friendly and great to work with. Can't wait to go again next year!

Great place for families with kids of all ages.

  • 5 of 5

Our family has been coming to this resort for 21 years now!! We love it. The lake is the perfect size & the cottages accommodate our family, great beach & awesome people who go the same week as us every year. When Jeff took it over, he did wonders to it & really made it comfortable for all. Our kids are now in their 20's & can't wait to go the South Shore each year. Thanks for all you have done to the place Jeff. See you soon!!!
