Excellent location with everything you need

You can't beat the location of this suite, which has a beautiful balcony view of the water and easy walking distance to all that downtown Bar Harbor has to offer. Private parking makes things even easier, as you don't have the hassle of trying to find a space. The suite itself is very clean and is plenty big enough for 2 people, with a good sized bedroom and nice seating area, while the kitchen has all the essentials for cooking. Sherry was great at communicating and the whole process was very easy. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

Perfection In Bar Harbor

My wife and I just spent 2 weeks in Maine after celebrating our daughter's wedding. Bar Harbor was the crowning event in our trip, and staying in Sher and Ivan's apartment for a week was a real jewel in the crown. The accomodations were perfect for our needs.: a spacious, immaculate and well provisioned apartment; a perfect in-town close-to-everything location with a reserved parking place and a balcony overlooking the harbor (where we drank coffee and watched the world wake up every mornng); abundant high quality linens and a washer/dryer in the hall. And best of all lovely, accomodating hosts who gave us enough "what to do and see" tips to fill much more than our one week. We will definitely return to this little slice of heaven.

A perfect spot for a beautiful town

We loved our vacation in Bar Harbor. We spent a lot of time looking into rentals for our stay. We both agree that we picked the perfect spot. What better way to start your day than drinking coffee on the deck overlooking the harbor. Our place was spacious and comfortable. We had everything we needed. After a long day of hiking in Acadia National Park (Beehive, Cadillac Mountain and Gorham), riding the ferry to Schoodic or going on a boat tour, the Alone Moose suite was the perfect place to unwind before heading out to dinner. We never had to worry about parking. We walked thorough the town to different spots for dinner. I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a Bar Harbor vacation. Sherry gave us to great tips before we arrived. Thanks for sharing your special place with us.

Our ultimate yearly trip

This says it all, 12 years and counting at this apartment the same time every year. My wife and I drive every year from central Missouri 1700 miles to be here. We travel the US every year on trips but this is the only place we come yearly. Many changes we have seen the last 12 years in the area, but our constant is the graceful hospitality of our host and hostess, Ivan and Sherry. Our apartment is always perfect, private with beautiful views. The last couple years we have extended our stay to 2 weeks. Perfect location to walking town shopping, restaurants, oceanside benches and perfect private parking. A must for an enjoyable stay when the boats and busses are arriving. Highly recommend this property for a perfect stay at Bar Harbor. We are now considering a spring trip along with our fall trip. Thank you so very much Sherry for our memories. Larry and Karen Lake

What a Lovely Stay!

We had such a lovely stay in Bar Harbor, and Ivan and Sherry's "home away from home" was absolutely perfect for us. The place was impeccably clean, and very spacious. They have really thought of everything you could possibly need and then some. Having a washer and dryer to use right outside the door was very convenient also. It was great to be able to walk all over Bar Harbor and leave our car safely parked in its designated parking spot. There are many restaurants/bars, and shops right nearby. Thankfully Sherry offered us so many tips and recommendations, or we would have been overwhelmed by all of the choices. She was always just a phone call or email away if we had any questions. Ivan and Sherry are both so very kind. We really enjoyed meeting them. Thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. We really enjoyed our first visit to Bar Harbor and you made it very easy for us so thank you both.

Perfect 30-year anniversary destination!

We were more than pleased with our rental! Sherry & Ivan were great hosts and the communication was fast (texting, emailing and calling). Sherry was very helpful in suggestions, she was there when we needed her, and she was probably our best VRBO host ever! The listing is very accurate, the location can't be beat, the property was spotless, the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, the bathroom had plenty of towels, the views were beautiful (pictures really do not do this place justice), the deck had a wonderful view, and the parking on-site was an added bonus --- you really can't go wrong in staying here! We are already discussing our next trip! Other than the mask mandate, the trip was perfect! It's hard to get a feel for the people of Maine when they're hidden behind a mask but that couldn't be helped and just another reason to visit again - when life returns to normal! We had originally planned to visit in May of this year but the country was shut down for a bit but this place was well worth the wait! Thank you Sherry & Ivan for sharing your home with us! We are blessed to be able to make memories there in Bar Harbor! Until next time...God bless you!

Thoroughly relaxing, Great hospitality and Immaculate accommodations

We loved our stay at Sherry and Ivan’s place! Sherry greeted us when we arrived and made sure we knew what we needed to know to enjoy both their apartment and all that the surrounding area offers. I was impressed with how clean everything was. The furniture, including the bed was very comfortable. Sherry has thought of everything, if you find yourself thinking, “I wish I had a.....” just look in a cabinet or closet and chances are good that she will have already thought of it and provided it! Even the little touches...the things you can do without but are glad you don’t have to - she has provided....like high quality tissues, toilet paper and soap and PLENTY of towels...also high end quality. She sent us one or two emails during the week alerting us to local happenings and we were so glad she did. It was things we wouldn’t have known were happening otherwise but were able to enjoy because of her thoughtfulness. The picures really don’t do the place justice. It feels much bigger than it appears in the pictures. It has two tv’s which is nice and excellent WiFi. And it’s quiet! There were people staying in the apartment below us but we rarely even knew they were there. The location couldn’t be better. You literally walk out your door and are surrounded by all that Bar Harbor has to offer from stores, to restaurants and outdoor activities. We did tons of walking and took advantage of the free bus service. We only used our car once, during the whole week when we went to see an excellent play at the Acadia Repertory theater. The apartment is on the third floor so expect stairs. The apartment has it’s own outdoor seating area with a great view of the harbor. We would highly recommend any place Sherry and Ivan rent based on our stay. They truly have a gift for hospitality!

The Perfect Vacation

The property is as amazing as all of the reviews state. You could not ask for a better location. You are within an easy walk to everything in Bar Harbor. The view from this suite is amazing! The suite is well stocked with everything you will need. As other reviews have stated this property is extremely clean. Sherry is amazing to work with and is a wealth of information if you need it. After spending the week here, it is also very important that off street parking is provided with the rental. It should also be noted that Acadia national park is very close to this rental. 15 minutes and you are at your parking location in Acadia. This property is almost always booked. If you somehow find an open date that works for you, book it. We found out how lucky we were to be able to rent this amazing place. It was a perfect vacation and will always be remembered as such. The only item that could be an issue for some people is that you do need to go up three flights of stairs. Not an issue for us, and trust me the view is worth it.

Best vacation rental in Bar Harbor

My husband and I recently enjoyed a stay at Alone Moose! Ivan and Sher were more than accommodating. You can tell that they take great pride in their property, as it was spotless and well appointed with many necessities. The best part is by far the view from the deck, which we spent hours on each day! We have rented many different properties in Bar Harbor and we have found our new favorite. Looking forward to returning next summer!

Wonderful retreat with scenic harbor view

Property is well kept and immaculate. Kitchen provisioned with everything needed to prepare meals. Nice dishes, beautiful linens and a really comfortable bed along with the covered porch make for a special retreat with gorgeous views of the harbor. Convenient downtown location, but still quiet inside suite.

Perfect stay in Bar Harbor!

We have nothing but FIVE STARS for our stay with Sher and Ivan last week. My husband and I traveled to Bar Harbor for the first time and this spot right on the waterfront was the perfect place to stay. The apartment was more than comfortable for two, including a luxurious king bed and deck with a water view, where we enjoyed coffee every morning before we started the day. The reserved off-street parking made it easy to go to our different Acadia spots for the day, then come home and leave the car to walk to all the dining options that downtown has to offer. Communication with Sher was easy and she had many great suggestions - I particularly enjoyed visiting some galleries she recommended on an afternoon my husband had to work. Thank you for a lovely stay, we will be back!

My husband and I had a wonderful time in Bar Harbor and Acadia. Apartment is spacious and comfortable, and the location is great and overlooks the harbor. This exceeded our expectations. The view of the harbor is great. Nice private setting yet very close to all restaurants and such. Only issue was 3rd floor location (which we didn’t mind too much, given the view it afforded).

It was bigger than I expected and nicely furnished and clean. Great view of the harbor from the balcony. Extremely convenient location downtown near all the shops, restaurants, and tours. The value of having a dedicated parking spot in downtown Bar Harbor should not be underestimated. Kitchen was well equipped. There was an abundance of high quality towels. TV and wifi worked fine, though understandably the wifi is weak on the balcony. This suite is on the third floor, which might be a concern for anyone with mobility issues but was fine for us.

The listing doesn’t do it justice!

This apartment is a little slice of heaven! It is centrally located with a fabulous view of the harbor. Everything you need is within walking distance and it is a short drive to the park. Sherry was fantastic as a host. She made the whole process easy and provided us many recommendations. I highly recommend this listing. We had considered something on the water outside of bar harbor and we are so glad we went with this option instead. The parking spot and laundry were great to have. The bed is very comfortable. Don’t hesitate - book it!

Great stay in Bar Harbor!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sherry's place in downtown Bar Harbor. Great location in downtown Bar Harbor and perfect base for exploring Acadia National Park. Very clean and spacious apartment. Especially loved having our morning coffee on the balcony with the view of the ocean.

Amazing all around!

Everything about our experience staying at Art on West in Bar Harbor was amazing! Our hosts are professional, friendly, and answered all of our questions prior to and during our stay. The condo was spacious, clean, and has everything you may need during your stay. Its location in the heart of Bar Harbor was superb and within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. Acadia Park's Jordan Pond and Eagle Lake are short distance drives. Bar Island is less than a 5-minute walk. It was a unique experience walking the sand bar and we did a few times. The best part was the condo's balcony overlooking Bar Harbor and watching life go by as you enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine during sunset. We are already planning our next year's visit and hope to be able to stay here. Again, thank you Sher and Ivan for allowing us to stay in your beautiful property. We made some great memories! We loved our stay at Sherry and Ivan's property - it was larger and nicer than we even expected, the location couldn't be better, and Sherry was an incredibly helpful host. Definitely recommend to others and we hope we can come back ourselves!

Fantastic week , fantastic location

From the time of booking to the end of our stay, Sherry was always very helpful and provided us with all the information we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The apartment is very spacious and has everything you need. The location is perfect and the view is exactly as we see on the pictures. We will be back. Thank you Sherry and Ivan.

A Bar Harbor Gem

We are so thankful that Sherry and Ivan shared this special place with us. They were the most wonderful hosts. The apartment was so clean and spacious. The view was spectacular. We will miss having our coffee in the morning and watching the world go by. After spending the day at Acadia, it was nice to be within walking distance of everything downtown Bar Harbor has to offer, including the restaurants, shops, and beautiful Shore Path. We hope to travel back to Bar Harbor again and visit this wonderful place. It is the perfect home away from home.

Perfect location

The location was perfect. You have a view of the water from the balcony. You are downtown and everything is walking distance. Access to Acadia was great also. Sherry was very helpful and sent a ton of information to us to review before we arrived.

We have been involved the ARTs in Bar Harbor since the early 1970’s and participate in local ART events such as First Friday ART walks. Ivan, who was once Bar Harbor Harbormaster, has spent most of his life near the ocean first in his native Oregon and now on Mount Desert Island, home to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Sherry traveled extensively as an international flight attendant.Though her travels took her to many beautiful destinations, she says that Mount Desert Island is truly one of the world's treasures.

The beauty of the island is what drew us to Bar Harbor. The magic of the island will captivate you as well.

Ivan captures the beauty of the Acadia in his watercolors that he sells in his own 'ART on West' and other galleries.

Bar Harbor is one of Maine's most walkable communities so we live right in the downtown for the convenience of walking to movies, theater, dining, boating, shopping and more. Like us, our visitors walk or bike into Acadia National Park. A free bus runs from mid-June to mid-October from the Village of Bar Harbor into Acadia National Park and to neighboring Villages. We are often asked if Bar Harbor is near Acadia National Park. Our downtown is surrounded by Acadia National Park and the nearby Bar Island is just a short walk from your suite. Did you know that the 'bar' to Bar Island is the reason for the name of Bar Harbor? You can see Bar Island from your suite. It is one of several islands of Acadia and the only one that is walkable from Bar Harbor!

We love to share our community and island with visitors from around the world. We are always nearby to get you started on a perfect vacation.

The best feature of the unit is the furnished covered private deck with waterview and, of course, there is so much room in the suite. For your convenience there is private, off street parking with the amenities of the world renowned Village of Bar Harbor are all walkable.

Location, location, location. Your suite is located on the West Street Waterfront and close to Bar Harbor's fine restaurants, galleries, and boating activities. You can watch the horse drawn carriages when they come into town for wedding or special events.There is a free self guided walking tour called 'Museum in the Streets'. You can jump on the tour at the neighboring Bar Harbor Club or anywhere in town to learn the history of our hometown.
