About The Owner

My wife and I live in Gainesville, GA (a little over an hour's drive). We were approaching retirement when we bought this cabin. We are both retired (elementary teacher and pharmacist), and LOVE spending time at our second home. We know you will love it, too!!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2009

Why The Owner chose Northeast Mountains

We chose the Suches area to purchase our cabin because it is close enough to our home so that we can use the property, but it is remote enough to 'get away from it all'. This area also has all of the things that we enjoy such as hiking, kayaking, and trout fishing to name a few. We are also close enough (30 minutes) to golf, live theater, stores, movies, etc.

What makes this cabin unique

We love spending time in the mountains! Our property has 400 feet on the Toccoa River that our guests can use to catch trophy sized trout or just sit on the deck and watch the water flow by and relax. Excellent tubing and kayaking is right at the back door. Great hiking to numerous waterfalls, The Benton Makaye Trail and The Appalachian Trail are close by. We also enjoy viewing the wildlife! Deer and turkeys can sometimes be seen strolling the field in front of the house. Of course viewing the different colors of the mountain views is spectacular! Our cabin is large enough to accommodate our growing family, but priced so that it would make a great romantic get-away for a couple. We know you will love this area as much as we do.

We enjoyed a fabulous stay at this beautiful cabin in the mountains. Driving to the cabin we had spectacular views of the mountains. The cabin is larger than we imagined with a nice driveway and well maintained lawn. There is an amazing wrap around porch that stretches from front to back and includes an outside table for meals or playing games and plenty of seating. When we walked in the front door we realized the owners love this cabin and care about their guests. It’s well decorated with comfortable furnishings. The kitchen is well equipped, has a charming gas fireplace in the living room and the view of the river is stunning. All the bedrooms have wonderful beds and furniture. The jacuzzi tub upstairs was relaxing after hiking all day, and the sauna is great! Upstairs we found a ping pong table and really fun arcade golf game. We spent much of our time enjoying the deck over the river out back, sitting by the fire pit with spectacular views of the stars, playing horseshoes and catching some giant trout (fishing poles were supplied). The area has great hikes (including part of the Appalachian Trail) and we loved the waterfalls and beautiful scenic drives. Several charming towns are nearby, including Blairsville. We had fun at Mercier Orchards at Blue Ridge, Georgia, and we enjoyed the copper mining museum in Ducktown, Tennessee. Springer Mountain with an elevation of 3,780' has stunning views and definitely worth seeing. Of course good trout fishing is everywhere. The owners of this cabin have thought of every detail to make your stay magnificent, the cabin is amazing!

CUSTOMER RELATIONS

If you need a place to take some customers to impress, or just want to get away for a couple of days with family or friends, you can't ask for a better place. Excellent fishing, AWESOME cabin with all of the amenities you could ask for, and sweet views of the mountains that surround the area. The cabin is very spacious. The upstairs Master Suite is something to behold and you just can't go wrong with a fully functional Golden Tee Arcade game!! All future outings to the North Georgia mountains will be spent here. The owners are very professional and provide quick responses to all questions. Just an all around great time with zero complaints.

Amazing stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 1st family fishing trip into the mountains and we were all very impressed. The owner Mr. Brown was very professional and seemed like a genuinely kind person. We happen to get lucky and he allowed us to check in early and he also checked up on us when it was lightly snowing and he offered to let us leave later than the check in time to be safe. First of all, the attention to detail in the cabin is insane! The way the Brown family designed this cabin makes truly seem like dream home in the mountains. It seemed like the Brown family thought of every little thing to make this cabin such an enjoyable experience. Inside the kitchen you will find EVERYTHING you can possibly need and even more too cook your meals. The bedrooms were clean and very comfortable and the pingpong table was a very nice addition. However, the main attraction for us was the trout fishing. We had some low expectations of the fishing due to past experiences river fishing but this location was simply amazing. None of us have ever got to see that many trout up close before. It is catch and release here which was no problem for us. Overall we had a wonderful time and we thank Mr. Brown and his family for allowing us to stay at their beautiful cabin!

Family Time

  • 5 of 5

Just wanted to let you know we had a fantastic time at your cabin this past weekend.

We met my brothers family from southern GA there to celebrate his 30th and my niece's 5th birthdays. The cabin was perfect. Everything we needed was right there. The kitchen is so well stocked with cooking and eating utensils and appliances.

On Friday several of us went tubing. We put in at the camp ground up the road and leisurely floated down to the cabin about 2.5 hrs! Fun fun even if it rained on us a few times. The rest of the time we just relaxed and caught up with family time.

The beds were so comfortable and the whole cabin was very clean. We used the ping pong table alot. Most cabins we've rented had a pool table but ping-pong is much more our style. :) One eve. we made a camp fire in the fire pit outside and spent time on the deck down by the river reading.

Thanks for all the little touches you put there to make our stay comfortable.

Spacious Cabin on the Upper Toccoa River!

  • 4 of 5

Spent an entire week there with my wife and other family members. Great fishing, everyone caught a few fish! Very spacious. There was plenty of room for everyone in terms of sleeping arrangements. We spent every night by the fire pit and had a blast.

The river was great but since it hadn't rained very much the river was down quite a bit and it was a very slow tubing experience.

Would definitely visit again :)

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying with us and glad you had a great time! The lack of rain this Summer has caused the river level to be unusually low, but recent rains have helped to raise the water level . This is helping the tubing and fishing. We enjoy sitting by the fire ring in the cool evenings also! Hope y'all can come back soon.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We just had a week long visit here and we were not disappointed. The house is beautiful and has plenty of room. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook with. The kids (14 & 2) loved the river, playing and tubing. The adults loved rocking on the porch and also sitting out on the deck overlooking the river. At night we would catch fireflies and the kids would roll down the hills in the front yard. The entire family had a great time.

A must do is go into Blairsville and eat at The Sawmill Place, great breakfast. Also if you need any groceries I would suggest going into Blairsville it was about 25 minutes away.

Would recommend this property to anyone.

Very Responsive / Receptive Owner

We had the pleasure of staying at Mr. Brown's residence 4/26/15 - 5/03/15. Easy to find and directions provided were accurate. The lot is big and there was never an issue with privacy. Once you enter the cabin, you realize the pictures listed don't do the place justice, the place looked and felt clean, and well maintained. We arrived Sunday evening from an 8hr drive, so it was nice that Mr. Brown accommodated our request to have the hot water heater breaker turned on beforehand. There were only 3 of us, 2 adults & a 3 yr old, so there was a lot more living space than necessary but we knew that upon renting; and even though this was the case, the cabin never felt overwhelmingly big nor small. The upstairs loft / entertainment space (which overlooks the main living room) was our little one's favorite spot, as she fell in love with the golf arcade game. The outdoor attached patio and the deck flat on the river's edge were mine. The sizes of the master bedroom and bath were also bigger than expected. Far enough from downtown blue ridge but close enough to be convenient. Many thanks to the Brown family for opening up their residence and it was definitely a pleasant vacation.

Owner's Response: We love getting away to the cabin also! It is located far enough away from Blue Ridge and Blairsville to feel remote, but close enough to enjoy shopping, restaurants, golf, and even live theater! The cabin is only an hour's drive from our home, but when we get there, it feels like a remote get-a-way. The location is perfect for quick get-a-ways from the Atlanta area without hours and hours of driving. Of course, many of our guests come to the cabin from Florida to spend a week, or more, in the cooler mountains. Thanks for staying with us and hope you can return soon!
