About The Owner

My wife and I live in Gainesville, GA (a little over an hour's drive). We were approaching retirement when we bought this cabin. We are both retired (elementary teacher and pharmacist), and LOVE spending time at our second home. We know you will love it, too!!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2009

Why The Owner chose Suches

We chose the Suches area to purchase our cabin because it is close enough to our home so that we can use the property, but it is remote enough to 'get away from it all'. This area also has all of the things that we enjoy such as hiking, kayaking, and trout fishing to name a few. We are also close enough (30 minutes) to golf, live theater, stores, movies, etc.

What makes this cabin unique

We love spending time in the mountains! Our property has 400 feet on the Toccoa River that our guests can use to catch trophy sized trout or just sit on the deck and watch the water flow by and relax. Excellent tubing and kayaking is right at the back door. Great hiking to numerous waterfalls, The Benton Makaye Trail and The Appalachian Trail are close by. We also enjoy viewing the wildlife! Deer and turkeys can sometimes be seen strolling the field in front of the house. Of course viewing the different colors of the mountain views is spectacular! Our cabin is large enough to accommodate our growing family, but priced so that it would make a great romantic get-away for a couple. We know you will love this area as much as we do.

We enjoyed a fabulous stay at this beautiful cabin in the mountains. Driving to the cabin we had spectacular views of the mountains. The cabin is larger than we imagined with a nice driveway and well maintained lawn. There is an amazing wrap around porch that stretches from front to back and includes an outside table for meals or playing games and plenty of seating. When we walked in the front door we realized the owners love this cabin and care about their guests. It’s well decorated with comfortable furnishings. The kitchen is well equipped, has a charming gas fireplace in the living room and the view of the river is stunning. All the bedrooms have wonderful beds and furniture. The jacuzzi tub upstairs was relaxing after hiking all day, and the sauna is great! Upstairs we found a ping pong table and really fun arcade golf game. We spent much of our time enjoying the deck over the river out back, sitting by the fire pit with spectacular views of the stars, playing horseshoes and catching some giant trout (fishing poles were supplied). The area has great hikes (including part of the Appalachian Trail) and we loved the waterfalls and beautiful scenic drives. Several charming towns are nearby, including Blairsville. We had fun at Mercier Orchards at Blue Ridge, Georgia, and we enjoyed the copper mining museum in Ducktown, Tennessee. Springer Mountain with an elevation of 3,780' has stunning views and definitely worth seeing. Of course good trout fishing is everywhere. The owners of this cabin have thought of every detail to make your stay magnificent, the cabin is amazing!

Heaven on Earth

LOVED our stay here! Being able to look out from the back porch/balconies onto the beautiful river below is extraordinary! The cabin was clean and beds comfortable. Fishing poles are graciously provided and were put to use for some catch and release fishing fun - and the fire pit provided a place for these city-slickers to try our hand at s'mores. Oh - word of advice - the internet works great as long as there is only ONE device in use at a time. This could be a good thing, however - the kids will spend less time on their phones! It was a phenomenal stay. The only thing that could have made it better - was if we could have stayed longer!

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying with us! We enjoy all of the things you do about the cabin and area. Internet in this rural area is DSL, over the phone lines. It is not as fast as our home internet (60mb), but has been adequate for us. I'm thinking there must have been 'issues' with the provider during your stay. We always have a couple of computers, tablets and several phones connected at the same time with no problems. We can even stream movies to Netfilx. Sorry you had problems while you were there. Thanks again for staying with us and hope you can come back soon!

Amazing cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this cabin and we will be going back again next year. We enjoyed tubing down the river that is just steps out the back door, great trout fishing, and making smores around the fire pit! We were at the cabin during the time of hurricane Irma and the owners were so gracious and really helped us with the dates of our stay to make sure we were safe to go home. This is the very best cabin in Georgia and fun for all ages!

If you need a place to take some customers to impress, or just want to get away for a couple of days with family or friends, you can't ask for a better place. Excellent fishing, AWESOME cabin with all of the amenities you could ask for, and sweet views of the mountains that surround the area. The cabin is very spacious. The upstairs Master Suite is something to behold and you just can't go wrong with a fully functional Golden Tee Arcade game!! All future outings to the North Georgia mountains will be spent here. The owners are very professional and provide quick responses to all questions. Just an all around great time with zero complaints.

Amazing stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 1st family fishing trip into the mountains and we were all very impressed. The owner Mr. Brown was very professional and seemed like a genuinely kind person. We happen to get lucky and he allowed us to check in early and he also checked up on us when it was lightly snowing and he offered to let us leave later than the check in time to be safe. First of all, the attention to detail in the cabin is insane! The way the Brown family designed this cabin makes truly seem like dream home in the mountains. It seemed like the Brown family thought of every little thing to make this cabin such an enjoyable experience. Inside the kitchen you will find EVERYTHING you can possibly need and even more too cook your meals. The bedrooms were clean and very comfortable and the pingpong table was a very nice addition. However, the main attraction for us was the trout fishing. We had some low expectations of the fishing due to past experiences river fishing but this location was simply amazing. None of us have ever got to see that many trout up close before. It is catch and release here which was no problem for us. Overall we had a wonderful time and we thank Mr. Brown and his family for allowing us to stay at their beautiful cabin!
