Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)
Situated at the entrance to the Sea Island causeway, Black Banks Plantation is a unique and charming neighborhood, named for the original Black Banks Plantation house, built in 1801. The Cottage which was built in 1920 as a carriage house for the Plantation, is nestled a short distance from the main house, amid large, old live oaks and overlooks your very own private pool, outdoor kitchen and outdoor fireplace. All for your EXCLUSIVE use!
The house was completely renovated and decorated within the last several years and offers all the luxury, warmth and charm needed to make the most of a stay on this wonderful island, including upstairs deck and downstairs courtyard, luxury linens, fully functional kitchen and top-of-the-line Bosch washer & dryer! Enjoy this vacation paradise any time of year; mild winters are perfect for a swim in the pool and a snuggle by the fireplace.
(Quickly becoming the 'go-to' spot for a romantic celebration, we have been delighted at the number of anniversaries shared at the Cottage! And with a number of Honeymoons already scheduled, it appears that romance is truly in the air!)
And the romantic and relaxing options are many! Swim, cook outside on the large, built-in gas grill, throw a log on the gas-assisted outdoor fireplace and relax or put on your party shoes and head out for a gracious dinner at the nearby Cloister or Halyard's before going to Ziggy Mahoney's for dancing!
When you're done, come 'home' to this quiet, comfortable and charming alternative to the busy condo scene.

About Kate Quinn
After raising our family in Gainesville, Georgia and coming to St Simons for family vacations for some 20+ years, we made the switch a dozen years ago and were soon followed by several our children! We have relished our time at the beach but have also been delighted with the range of other activities available here on St Simons. From biking to kayaking, shopping and sightseeing, there is just not enough time to do it all.
Kate Quinn purchased this Cottage in 2003
Why Kate Quinn chose St Simons Island
St Simons has so much to offer that it's hard to know where to start. We all love the beach, so that was the first draw, as was the proximity to our home north of Atlanta but we also wanted a 'real' home, a 'real' community not just a condo-row experience. The community on St Simons is just that and more. Neighborhoods, churches, newcomer's groups, garden club or little theater, there is a place to be part of the rich fabric that is St Simons Island!
What makes this Cottage unique
The unique character of the cottage is in its beautiful and private setting. You'll feel like you're miles away from the hullaballoo but in reality - you are minutes from a lovely beach, lighthouse, 'village', biking, shopping and kayaking.

Quaint and relaxing
It looks just like the pictures. Good restaurants very nearby.
Loved the stay, can't wait to be there again! - lots of 'Pros', a few 'Cons'...
First off, the grounds are GORGEOUS! The cottage is charming! Everything is clean, the bed is comfy (and the sheets smell fantastic) - the neighborhood is very quiet and private (but not close to the beach, if that's what you're looking for - we weren't, as it was a romantic celebration for us) - the pool is beautiful, but not currently heated - the gas grill wasn't working, but the outdoor fireplace is SPECIAL! Talking about special, Kate (the owner) is the hostess with the MOSTEST!!! We will be back when it is a little warmer to explore more shops & historical sites...
Lovely and secluded getaway.
Private setting for a renewing, relaxing getaway. St Simons is beautiful and the Quinn’s cottage is charming and located perfectly to access all the beauty and history the island has to offer. We thourghly enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful neighborhood! Perfect little getaway cottage.
We enjoyed this quiet retreat. We will be back! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your review; it was a pleasure to have you as our guests! You are so welcome back anytime!
Lovely cottage, great host and wonderful southern hospitality!
Regrettably we had to leave this cosy cottage prematurely because of the arrival of Hurricane Irma. So sad because this is such a magical place. Our host Kate was so welcoming and caring for all our needs as we settled in, we felt like family. The spooky moss laden trees and tropical flora around the pool, deck and patios provide a really relaxing experience. The nearby Fort Fredericka National Monument was an unexpected surprise and we wish we could have spent more time there. Maybe next time. We had some fantastic sea food, which for us living in inland Ottawa, Canada was a special treat. Everywhere on the island we experienced that wonderful southern hospitality.
Thank you Kate, we hope that one day we can return to your cottage. We loved it.
