Come and enjoy the north woods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula on beautiful Iron Lake. This 3-bedroom home has 300+ ft of frontage on a quiet 300 acre lake just minutes from Iron River and US 2. In the tradition of the U.P., we fondly call this place, da Lake House.
Majestic cedars pepper our lake property while a stand of trees on each side of the property provides a feeling of seclusion and privacy. It doesn't matter what time of year ... every season possesses a unique feeling in this area of the Upper Peninsula.
In the spring and summer ... well, just come and relax. Hang a hammock (included) between two cedars and read a book or take a nap. Fish from the pier or from one of the boats. Take a quiet walk down the road or through the woods. Paddle around the lake and watch for eagles, deer, loons, and other wildlife. The shoreline is all sand for the first 15 feet. A nice, clear, spring-fed Wisconsin lake, the water is always refreshing. Snorkel off the end of the pier and watch the little fish come nibble on you. (paddle boat, alum canoe, and 10' alum fishing boat with oars provided, inc life vests and anchor)
In the fall, the view of the hardwoods across the lake provides a private showing of changing color. No other properties are visible directly across from us. The crisp air is refreshing and can make you feel alive. A fire in the lake-side fire pit is a great way to salute the end of the day. (firewood available)
In the winter, enjoy an exceptional sledding and skiing hill in Caspian, just on the edge or Iron River. Ski Brule is only 20 minutes away with snowboarding, tubing, cross country trails and excellent skiing. A number of quality cross country ski trails are located within minutes of Iron River along with 4-wheeler trails. A large plaza is on the edge of town with big grocery store, movie rental, Shopko store, pharmacy, hardware. Fast food and great specialty shops and restaurants throughout Iron River. Many of the UP's finest waterfalls are within minutes of here. Ice fishing is popular throughout the area, including on Iron Lake. Snowmobiling is a very popular sport with the local visitor's bureau having maps and details.

I am a lifetime Scout and conservationist ... been out in a lot of Wisconsin and UP areas ... and have fallen in love with this property, the lake, and the area. Due to high taxes, we have now opened 'da lake house' for others to enjoy. Call me with questions: 920.470.8470
Jim Edmondson purchased this house in 2006
I bought the property because it was so private and quaint. We wanted a place just for ourselves, but to continue to afford to have this luxury, we're happy to share it.
This property is so perfect if you enjoy the quiet solitude of a vacation on a lake. There are eagles and loons, cedars and birch, walleye, northerns and bass, and of course peace and quiet. There is over 300 feet of private lakefront to explore and a totally equipped house to retreat to when you've had too much fun outside.
We stayed July '15. Our family had a week full of fun! Jim is very easy to work with and accommodating. Hopefully we will be returning next summer for another wonderful trip. We had 2 boys, ages 8 & 9 with us who can't wait to return. The fisheing was great, and boated everyday. A beautiful, clean lake.Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.
Our family just spent a wonderful week at Da Lake House! So much to do right there. There was never a comment of "I'm bored". Thank you to Jim for his generousity in allowing us to enjoy his home! Jim is very easy to work with. Thank you again!
This was the perfect location and time of year for a long overdue family decompression! Even though the fishing wasn't that stellar the different wildlife and most awesome fall colors more than made up for that! We would like to thank Jim and his family for sharing their lake house with us. We saw a flock of wild turkeys wander through the front yard. A wolf and black bear, deer, the 2 loons and most adorable lake otter who was a ham! We came back refreshed and with many colorful photos! We are very grateful!
We had a wonderful time here. Lots of fish to be caught, on this wonderful quiet lake. We enjoyed all of the wildlife and solitude around us. The boys enjoyed paddle boating around the lake.
Our family just finished a week's stay and the place is everything you could ask for.Very clean, roomy, great yard with great frontage and private. We enjoyed the lake, fished, canoed and ate at some nice places all within 30 minutes.Jim is very easy to deal with and I think the rate is very fair.Enjoy your stay,I know we plan on returning in 2013.The dog had a blast too!
We had a wonderful North woods vacation here. We saw Loons, Herons, Cranes, Bald Eagles, Osprey and a family of Hooded Merganzers. On several evenings, we could hear wolves howling from the wilderness area west of the lake. We took day trips and found several incredible waterfalls within 50 miles of the cabin. We also spent a great day kayaking in the Sylvania Wilderness area, about 40 miles away. A very comfortable lake home with everything we needed made for a wonderful UP vacation.
