Private Relaxation on Quiet Iron Lake - da Lake House with 300'+ lake frontage

Bedrooms 3
Half Baths1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Ranch house, 3 bedrooms + Convertible bed, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Enjoy the north woods on beautiful Iron Lake. This 3-bedroom home has 300+ ft of frontage on a quiet 300 acre lake just minutes from Iron River and US 2. In the tradition of the U.P., we fondly call this place, da Lake House. Fully equipped home ready for your vacation.

Majestic cedars pepper our lake property while a stand of trees on each side of the property provides a feeling of seclusion and privacy. It doesn't matter what time of year ... every season possesses a unique feeling in this area of the Upper Peninsula.

In the spring and summer ... well, just come and relax. Hang a hammock (included) between two cedars and read a book or take a nap. Fish from the pier or from one of the boats. Take a quiet walk down the road or through the woods. Paddle around the lake and watch for eagles, deer, loons, and other wildlife. The shoreline is sand for the first 15 feet. A nice, clear, spring-fed Wisconsin lake, the water is always refreshing. Snorkel off the end of the pier and watch the little fish come nibble on you. (kayak, paddle boat, alum canoe, and 10' alum fishing boat with oars provided, inc life vests and anchors)

In the fall, the view of the hardwoods across the lake provides a private showing of changing color. No other properties are visible directly across. The crisp air is refreshing and can make you feel alive. Get your favorite refreshment in hand and watch great sunsets directly across the lake. A fire in the lake-side fire pit is a great way to salute the end of the day. (firewood available)

In the winter, enjoy an exceptional sledding and skiing hill in Caspian, just on the edge or Iron River. Ski Brule is only 20 minutes away with snowboarding, tubing, cross country trails and excellent skiing. A number of quality cross-country ski trails are located within minutes of Iron River along with 4-wheeler trails. A large plaza is on the edge of town with big grocery store, movie rental, Shopko store, pharmacy and the UP's biggest ACE hardware on the south edge of town. Fast food and great specialty shops and restaurants throughout Iron River. Many of the UP's finest waterfalls are within minutes of here. Ice fishing is popular throughout the area, including on Iron Lake. Snowmobiling is a very popular sport with the local visitor's bureau having maps and details.

The house is fully equipped with virtually all the amenities you'll need for an enjoyable stay.

About Jim Edmondson

I am a lifetime Scout and conservationist ... been out in a lot of Wisconsin and UP woods... and have fallen in love with this property, the lake, and the area. Due to high taxes, I have now opened 'da lake house' for others to enjoy. Call me with questions or inquiries: 920.470.8470

Jim Edmondson purchased this house in 2006

Why Jim Edmondson chose Iron River

I bought the property because it was so private and quiet. Da Screen House, which was once a sauna, sits right on the edge of the lake, and I mean right on the edge. This is one of the few places, if not the only one, where large cedars adorn the lake shoreline.

What makes this house unique

This property is perfect if you enjoy the quiet solitude of a vacation on a lake. There are eagles and loons, cedars and birch, walleye, northerns and bass, and of course peace and quiet. There is over 300 feet of private lakefront to explore and a totally equipped house to retreat to when you've had too much fun outside.

The UP experience

  • 5 of 5

Da Lake House is on beautiful Iron Lake. My father, brother, and I want to visit Ottawa National forest for some grouse hunting and this place was perfect for the 3 of us! A clean hose with all the amenities. Location is close to town, so you can visit Riverside Pizza of course. In the evening we would go down to the dock and throw a line in the water to enjoy the sunset. Jim is really easy to work with and he was able to accommodate at my last minute request to rent the place. Everything that Jim describes in his listing is correct. I highly recommend this place for a weekend get away or a place to stay while you are in the UP.

Fantastic Spot

  • 5 of 5

Da Lake House offered a private and enjoyable home base for our recent canoe trip in the Iron River area. The lake itself is beautiful, calm, and quite private. It is a bit weedy for swimming, but the fishing opportunities and views were outstanding. The backyard fire pit was used every night and the house was clean and comfortable. This was our second trip to this property. Thanks Jim!

Ideal Location

  • 5 of 5

The location was so much better than our trip last year where we stayed in Watersmeet. We were close to family and town, and could go in any direction for a day trip. Unfortunately, we had a few days of cold and rain, but we found plenty to do. I think the only negative thing I could say, and this comes from my teenagers, is that their beds squeaked every time they moved. The lake was like bathwater but too weedy for us. Other than that, location was great, plenty of room, great yard for the dogs, lots of inquisitive deer. Wish we could have seen the wolf, bear and otter! Thanks Jim, we had a very enjoyable and relaxing week.

Great family trip!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed July '15. Our family had a week full of fun! Jim is very easy to work with and accommodating. Hopefully we will be returning next summer for another wonderful trip. We had 2 boys, ages 8 & 9 with us who can't wait to return. The fisheing was great, and boated everyday. A beautiful, clean lake.Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.

This was the perfect location and time of year for a long overdue family decompression! Even though the fishing wasn't that stellar the different wildlife and most awesome fall colors more than made up for that! We would like to thank Jim and his family for sharing their lake house with us. We saw a flock of wild turkeys wander through the front yard. A wolf and black bear, deer, the 2 loons and most adorable lake otter who was a ham! We came back refreshed and with many colorful photos! We are very grateful!
