First of all, if you want a quiet little beach town, Pismo Beach and the Five Cities Area is probably not it, but that was my only disappointment. This was a cute cottage and the pictures do not, in any way, do it justice. It looks small, but when you are in it, there is plenty of room. The furniture is comfortable. There were two couches and one folded out into a bed. There was a very nice refrigerator, quiet dishwasher, beautiful bathroom and generously sized bedroom. It was immaculate when we arrived. There is a laundry area three cabins back and there is a beautiful grilling/patio area. The rental company - Vacation Rental Pros was easy to work with. Depending on who you talked to, they were very friendly. A few people seemed to have zero personality. This is within easy walking distance of the beach and all restaurants. It is not a quiet area - each morning at about 5:30 AM I heard garbage trucks or huge delivery trucks. There are many people walking past, to and from the beach. There was a very sketch looking, old RV parked across the street that seemed like people were staying IN it and just parked on the street. There is VERY LITTLE parking even though it says there is parking. We had to park quite a ways up the street for the first two days. Judging from all of the hotels and houses I saw around, this was one of THE nicest. In general, Pismo was pretty grubby, but there were plenty of fun things to do.

IMPROVEMENTS: When we unfolded the couch into a bed, there were A LOT of crumbs and that was gross. The bedding in the bedroom was clean but worn. The duvet and sheets had a few stains on them and that was off-putting. The condo itself was very clean, though.

Owner's Response: Dear Angie, Thank you for your positive review of our beach cottage. The Fourth of July is, by far, the most crowded weekend of the year in Pismo Beach. Your stay, beginning July 2, would not give a accurate sampling of what is usually one of the cleanest beaches, and most laid back beach towns in California. The cottage has one dedicated off-street parking spot. There shouldn't have been a problem, unless you were trying to park two vehicles. Free street parking, this close to the beach, fills very quickly on popular weekends like the Fourth. Otherwise, there are usually spaces available close by. The manager, Coastal Vacation Rentals, will make the necessary changes with housekeeping to deal with your suggested improvements. Sincerely, Bill

Fantastic for a weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

My mother and I stayed here for a weekend. It's a well designed unit, very clean, and we loved how close it was to the beach. We loved walking in the morning to see the sea life and surfers, and it was so quiet. The cottage has the same toiletries you would find in a hotel, plus the dishwasher, small refrigerator, and range. It's also nice to be so close to restaurants and have the off-street parking pad.

Excellent! We'll be back!

  • 5 of 5

If Ferrari built beach cottages instead of exotic sports cars, this would be one of their products . The first thing you'll notice when you walk through the front door is the small size. As you continue to check the place out, you quickly realize that it's so well-designed that size really doesn't matter.

In addition to the highly efficient use of space, the craftsmanship and clean finishes really make it easy to feel comfortable here. It's well-maintained and clean with none of the unpleasant odors that are common to almost every place we've ever stayed at the beach. My wife and I brought our son here as part of our trip from Chicago to drop him off at Cal Poly. It is perfect for three people, but will accommodate four easily. We couldn't have wished for a better place to stay.

The beach is less that a one minute walk away and downtown Pismo Beach is a short two block walk. Our car stayed parked almost the whole time we were here, as there really was no need to drive.

You can't go wrong here. When it's time for us to visit our son on future trips, we'll definitely look here first for a place to stay.

Wonderful little cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a short stay in Cottage B. What a fantastic place! All of the unexpected extras made our stay that much better - the fully stocked laundry room with free washer/dryer, the fully stocked kitchen with dishwasher and all the basics plus more, the hot water outdoor shower, the top of the line appliances .......we LOVED it! Fantastic use of the space and more hooks and cupboards than a family would need for a much longer stay. It's a short walk to the beach, boardwalk and downtown - my 2, 4 & 6 year old boys did it numerous times with no problems, all while carrying their boogie boards :-) Lot's to do and see around town but we made great use of the kitchen and bbq area at the cottage as well. We can't wait to go back!

Bonus points for thoughtful design!

  • 5 of 5

My family of four (2 adults, 2 small kids) loved staying at the cottage. It has been recently renovated, impeccably clean, and tastefully decorated. They have really made a small space work and, seriously, no detail was forgotten- speakers for your ipod, two plasma tvs each with their own Blue Ray player (red box is just blocks away at 7/11), lovely sheets and towels, hooks outside for beach towels, perfect little kitchen (small dishwasher and microwave) open to the living room, BBQ, grassy area for kids to play, washer and dryer in separate cottage.

I would recommend to friends and family with gusto. In fact, if you have a larger group renting all three cottages would be really great. Also the very kind lady who cleaned the cottage was beyond helpful, with recommendations on farmers markets and where to go when Pismo was foggy (Avila).

We really enjoyed the location too! Close to the beach, and Pismo served as a good jumping off point for day trips to Avila, SLO, Oceano. We went as far as Hearst Castle and with two little ones wouldn't recommend driving much farther.

Thank you for the attention to detail and giving us a home away from home.

Beautifully Designed Home by the Beach

  • 5 of 5

What you see in the pictures and the list of amenities is even better in reality. The owners have designed this cottage with a great deal of thought. The way it is finished and furnished makes a really nice vacation home for a couple. Nice laundry area. Quiet. Private. Walk half a block and you are on the beach!
