The Space:
Our cozy retreat has all the comforts of home, nestled right in the center of Historic Harpers Ferry. With its blend of historical charm and modern safety, this Victorian gem promises a memorable and comfortable stay, ensuring you experience both its unique character and modern conveniences in complete comfort. Waverly Cottage is ideal for couples, families, or small groups of friends -- and is the perfect home base for your getaway!
The cottage includes:
- 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds
- 1 full bathroom and the second one is a half bath (full bath located in the master bedroom, 1/2 bath is off the kitchen)
- Two additional pull-out beds, one in the living room (queen) and the other in the sitting room (twin)

- Large elevated back porch with two comfy chairs and a bench to relax with a glass of wine
- Fully-stocked kitchen with a stove/oven and microwave
- Central AC and heat to keep you comfortable (please note the AC is currently out of service, but repairs are in the works)
- SmartTV with access to all your favorite streaming services
- Fast, reliable WiFi that’s more than enough to stream movies and hold video calls
- Parking directly in front of the cottage (2 parking passes for your stay)
Much of this Victorian Gem is in its original form and has been lovingly maintained over the last 165 years, from the original 1840s foundation, to the one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted porch trim, gable shingles, and hardwood floors and stone landscaping borders. We hope you will most of all enjoy the historic charm and unique piece of history that this property represents.
Enjoy your mornings or evenings on the balcony, which offers a peaceful retreat with lovely views. Whether you're sipping coffee or simply taking in the fresh air, the balcony is a perfect spot to relax and unwind. To really create an inviting atmosphere, open the doors for a gentle crossflow breeze through the house.
One of the best aspects of Waverly Cottage is the location. We’re surrounded by the boundaries of the National Park (it’s across the street) and literally steps (2 minute walk with steep walking paths along the way) from all of the major sites in Harpers Ferry (less ¼ mile from John Brown’s Fort). We’re also just a short 5 minute walk from the Appalachian Trail. Bring your walking shoes!
We often take our three little kids to the cottage, so we're very family-friendly. Unfortunately, we don't allow any dogs or cats in the cottage.
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!
Our AC is currently taking a little break, but repairs are already scheduled and should be completed soon! Thank you for your understanding—we’re excited to host you and make sure you have a great stay in the meantime.
Beyond Historic Harpers Ferry, we love how close to everything we are! Fantastic hiking trails, kayaking and tubing on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers, and dozens of amazing little shops, restaurants, and wineries -- all within a 20 minute drive.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the location is perfect for exploring Harpers Ferry, within walking distance to everything. The cottage is well equipped, clean and cozy, perfect for a couples get away, would book again if returning to HF. The owner was very communicated, had well organized info for the stay and was easy to work with

The cottage was so charming and homey. It was super clean and organized. We had everything that we needed! I would highly recommend staying here! If I had to knock anything which honestly wasn't a knock even would be the parking and the road. Parking on the street was a bit tight but there were no problems. It's a very tiny road. However I felt safe and really enjoyed the home and the town! The host was responsive and communicated very well! Five stars !
Super cute quick weekend trip for me and my partner! We loved the cottage, loved the property, and appreciated the quick walk to the shops and restaurants on high st. Great experience!

Our family of 4 stayed in this historic house which was quaint and perfectly located. Walked to get delicious coffee from Battleground and AMAZING dinner experience at The Rabbit Hole. Beautiful hiking and historic sites just steps from the house.

Lovely historic home that was easy walking distance to attractions and restaurants. The beds were comfortable and the whole home was very well stocked and appointed.
My partner and I had a wonderful weekend in Harpers Ferry. The cottage was in the center of everything…and we especially enjoyed being able to walk to Mass at the beautiful, historic St. Peter’s.

Very clean, great location. The photos on site need updated to reflect accuracy. Better yet, some repairs and upgrades would increase rating. Broken bi-fold door leaning against wall in master, porch boards sagging, bathroom baseboard needs replaced. Not a negative but worth knowing…parking is very tight on one lane street and no air conditioning.
This historic house right off the main streets of Harper’s Ferry makes you feel that you are right in the middle of the history of the town. The host was extremely attentive, and the home was definitely charming. I would stay here again.

The pretty Victorian home was just as described and located in the perfect spot for touring Harpers Ferry. The host was very responsive to all our needs. It was a lovely visit for me and my 89 year old Dad.

This was a return trip for us, the time before we stayed at the Clarion. It was a treat to be staying right in Harpers Ferry this time and not have to worry about parking. The house was lovely and the property manager was friendly and communicative. We will stay here again!

I loved this old house and the town. It worked great for me and my four grown kids The imperfections of the house due to age just made me appreciate it more.
Family is looking forwarded to a longer stay in the future. Great get away from the city rat race. Loved being able to walk everywhere insteading of driving. First VRBO experience but so much easier than dealing with hotels.

Very nice property within a short walk from Harpers Ferry historic district. Great location but streets are up hill “both ways.” A little rough on my old knees. Host is excellent and keeps property well maintained. Would definitely stay there again.
The cottage was very quaint. Peaceful. Walked to Harper's Ferry. Did some hiking. When into Charles Town to antique shop. Went to the Harper's Ferry Brewery.

Probably the best possible location in the Harper's Ferry area. The cottage was wonderful, very quaint and comfortable. It's location is perfect, nestled in the woods and, as described, only walking minutes from the Harper's Ferry sights. A day did not go by that we did not see wildlife in the back or front of the house. Tony was the best host we've had in VRBO.

The property was only a 5 min walk to Jefferson stone on the Appalachian trail. Unique home. A few maintenance things but we saw a lot of deer in the yard and overall wonderful, relaxing stay.
We had the pleasure of staying at this property over a long holiday weekend and were delighted by the house. It is so charming and filled with special historic touches, but still has all the modern updates and amenities.
And the location cannot be beat. You can park your car and not move it the entire weekend as downtown is a mere 5-minute walk away. Hiking trails are also all easily accessible by foot, as are all the local shops and restaurants.
The owners were also very responsive, and even though we had zero issues during our stay, I'm sure they would have responded right away if there was anything amiss.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
What makes this property unique
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Waverly Cottage in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cottage is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
