Time Well Wasted is a charming 2BR/2BA cabin nestled amongst mature hardwood trees on a large property, with layered mountain views, just above 4500' in elevation. It is located on a quiet residential street on Appalachian Ski Mountain in Blowing Rock, less than 3 miles from downtown, only 1 mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and less than 2 miles from the ski slopes, ice skating, snow tubing, and main lodge at the Appalachian Ski Mountain resort. Time Well Wasted is an ideally-located vacation cabin with actual year-round relevance - Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter!
Easy access to and into the cabin is a plus, thanks to the paved driveway and parking for two (2) vehicles, just three steps below the convenient main-level entry door. ***(4WD and tire chains recommended during winter weather conditions!)***
The main level features an open concept floor plan anchored by its open living room with vaulted ceilings, gas log fireplace, HD Smart TV, and comfy designer furniture. The well-outfitted kitchen with granite countertops, and adjacent dining table, makes preparing and serving meals easy and fun. There is a Queen bedroom with an HDTV on the main level and a full bathroom with a tub and shower combo.
Walk out to the extended covered porch from the living room on the "view" side of the cabin, and enjoy year-round, all-weather outdoor comfort while taking in the layered mountaintop views! The covered porch gives way to a large open-air side deck with outdoor dining, a gas grill, and more comfy outdoor seating.
The upper level boasts the master bedroom suite, with a King bed, HD Smart TV, and a private ensuite full bathroom. The mountain views from the master bedroom are excellent. The cozy loft at the top of the stairs provides a workstation with a desk, from which guests can stay connected with work and life back home.
WiFi internet and Satellite TV programming on 3 HDTVs, 2 of which also offer Smart TV options, will keep you connected and entertained on those "inside weather" days and nights. There is also a Washer and Dryer for guest use. Between the central heating and the gas fireplace, warmth will never be an issue. There is no air conditioning at Time Well Wasted. At over 4500 feet in elevation, open to the cool mountain top breezes but not fully exposed to the hot afternoon sun, the temperatures will likely never get above the 70s, making air conditioning a non-necessity.
PLEASE NOTE - It is important to the owners and the neighbors that guests understand Time Well Wasted is in a quiet residential community with many year-round residents. The strict 10 PM quiet time for the community is strictly enforced. Sound does travel further in the thin air and rocky terrain of the mountains, so even unintended noise from the decks can travel and reverberate much more than many guests realize. WITH A MAXIMUM OF 4 GUESTS HERE, we don't expect any issues, but please honor the community's sanctity and help us reinforce the truth that not all vacationers are noisy or rowdy.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS (maximum of 4 guests): Upper Level King Master Suite (sleeps 2) Main Level Queen Bedroom Suite (sleeps 2)
* There is an exterior camera on the side/rear corner of the cabin, positioned away from the cabin completely, pointing out toward the entrance of the driveway and toward the mountain views. Owners can keep an eye on the cabin when it is unoccupied and sneak a wistful peek at those layered mountain views when they long for a return to the High Country!
** No more than TWO (2) VEHICLES can be parked at the cabin during any booking. The cabin is a small 2BR that hosts a maximum of 4 guests, and the driveway is not big enough to accommodate more than 2 vehicles. Limit your visit to two vehicles max. If you must have a third vehicle, please coordinate offsite parking with CCR or on your own.
*** There is no AC (air conditioning) at this cabin. It sits at over 4500 feet in elevation, and typically the owners use it themselves most summers. The temperatures rarely get above the mid-70s at Time Well Wasted, and the cool mountain cross-breezes help keep the temperatures lower.

Very cozy cabin in the mountains! Description was accurate - Definitely need all wheel drive to access. Check in/out process were easy and the instructions from owner were clear and helpful! Small kitchen so don't plan to cook many meals.
nice place to stay. driveway was a little difficult but overall had a great experience.

This is a lovely property with great amenities. The location is so convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway and neighboring communities. I would recommend a visit to West Jefferson a lovely little town.

Thank you so much for sharing! It is such a thrill when we hear that our guest had a great stay and the home provided a back drop for those memories and fun. Hope to have you as a guest again soon.
My son and i had a great time staing at your getaway cabin. The fireplace was used everyday. We even had enough snow on the 1st day to build a snowman on the deck. (Wish we had a shovel)
The views of the mountain and sunrise were so great. Thanks so much!
You were not kidding, im glad i had my truck for the 15 deg driveway while it snowed, though. But thats mountain living, lol.

Thank you so much for choosing and staying in our home. We are thrilled that you appeared to have enjoyed your stay and that the home met your vacation needs. We look forward to welcoming you back again to our home. Safe travels!
I enjoyed the house and location. Please be more specific about the internet. It is impossible to work remote from the cabin. We had to go into town for service. Sometimes the cellphones didn’t work.

Thank You for the feedback. We hope to see you again soon!
I can sum it up quickly: I wish we were still there! This cabin is absolutely beautiful! Cozy yet spacious. Kitchen is well stocked ~ although we really didn’t cook, we could’ve easily. The laundry stackables work great & so convenient to have. The view from the living area & porch were breathtaking with peak Fall Foliage hitting while we were there. Slept like a baby in the comfortable bed upstairs. One small comment: thanks for having hooks in the bathrooms! So many homes overlook that. The upstairs closet was really large. The home itself is perfection! Location is also great! 5 minutes to Grocery Store. 7 minutes to Downtown Blowing Rock & a quick 10 minute drive to Boone. So centrally located! We couldn’t have been happier with our mountain getaway ~ thank you for sharing your beautiful home !

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness
Cabin was beautiful, but dirty
When we arrived we immediately noticed a thick layer of dust everywhere as well as dust bunnies under all the furniture in the living room and bedrooms as well as some inhabited spider webs on the table under the living room tv. We contacted the management company and they sent someone out the next evening to clean, but they did a lousy job, cleaning only a few items leaving lots of dust, which was extremely obvious to see. It wasn't just a light amount of dust, this looked like an accumulation of months of not cleaning. Having asthma, this caused me a lot of discomfort while we were there. This was a 50th anniversary major splurge and we couldn't afford to go elsewhere, or we would have done so. I will not book this house again.

We enjoyed our stay at Time Well Wasted. Very clean and comfortable and close to Blowing Rock. There is a great outdoor area with a wrap around porch, grill and fire pit. The space will easily accommodate 4 people but was perfect for just my husband and myself. We enjoyed our long weekend and spent a lot of time on the porch enjoying the sunshine and mountain air.

Thank you for your feedback. We hope that you will visit us again soon!
This was a very nicely appointed house on the mountain. We loved the sunrise views, space inside and outside deck. (Side note for others who are sensitive to chemicals in laundry detergents - we had to wash linens a few times to get the heavy chemical smells out as first night we all had headaches/stuffy... but an easy fix with washer there. Property managers consider using non fragrance/non toxic soaps). Overall great home you can tell the owners like to go themselves.
Very clean and well appointed cabin. The back deck and side deck are huge! Nice hardwood floors and modern appliances. They even put salt down on the driveway. Less than 10 minutes into Blowing Rock . 10/10.
Beautiful home, Very clean, great location, excellent view... we just love it!
