Why Owner/Property Manager chose Hayward

I chose to purchase this lake cabin after I fell in love with the beautiful lake views and the very private setting.

Great north woods adventure

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed 10 days of north woods fall season in a comfortable, well equipped cabin complete with beautiful lake. We had a fire every evening and the full moon made the lake even more beautiful. Incredible north woods/lake country adventure.

Listing description and pictures are accurate. The owner was very helpful with information/directions and makes himself available via cell phone for any questions or problems.

Quiet, private, and lovely

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I spent a week in this lovely cabin. The pictures are accurate, but do not show how this house is on a point - surrounded by water. We loved the privacy and the wonderful screened in porch. We saw a black bear on Hwy K one morning as we were heading for the Apostle Islands. We also loved the loons and otters. We saw a deer swimming to the little island across from the house. But the best wildlife sight was when a bald eagle swooped down and snatched a fish right in front of the porch, then ate it at in a tree next to the cabin. We loved paddling around in the canoe. So if you want peace and privacy - this is a wonderful location!

Just What We Needed!

  • 5 of 5

My Husband, 14 month old son and I were up for a week meeting close family friends for a vacation. This was the most amazing cabin! It was so peaceful and quiet - just what we needed this year. We brought up our fishing boat and loved being able to dock it right there at the house. The fishing was not great, but we had so much fun hanging out on the sandbar with family. We used the grill almost every night and really enjoyed sleeping with the windows open. (Nebraska was WAY TOO hot this year to do that!) This place had everything we needed, was extremely clean and we hope to be back soon! The Waterfront was our hot spot for the week! Thanks so much for sharing your house!

Fantastic cozy cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for long weekend with husband and 4 year old twins. What a perfectly situated escape! Clean, well-appointed, and comfortable. The grounds are perhaps a little too rugged for little feet to play just outside the cabin, but ours did fine. Great communication from Steve/Paul. Thanks for a great trip; we'll be back! Lovely lovey cabin. Thank you for sharing.

Amazingly, unbelievably, awesome!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, our 15 yr old son and 8 yr old daughter had the absolute pleasure of spending all of last week in this beautiful cottage. It was exactly as advertised and even more secluded and beautiful than I could have imagined! Mind you, we are a very close family, so the togetherness of such a small secluded place was ideal for us! Grindstone Lake was remarkably un-busy, and the cove that the house rests on gave privacy and comfort with frequent views of loons, eagles, osprey, beavers, deer and various ducks that were amazing. Despite crazy on/off storm conditions, we caught perch and small/large mouth, swam in the crystal clear waters and kayaked half our days away. We were even lucky enough to enjoy a full moon and beautiful campfires right outside the cottage. We did enhance our trip with a pontoon boat rental from the wonderful folks at Earl's Marine, which was FABULOUS!! I suppose, if I'd have to caution on anything, it would be that the driveway is not really conducive to other than very expert trailer/rv drivers, as it is a long winding path, with not much room to turn around, in order to get you to the privacy and beauty of the cottage itself . It's also not a sandy beach, but is still beautiful water to swim in. (This was explained to us ahead of time, so not a surprise - and mostly we took the pontoon to sandbars and swam there because the lake was so serene :) It was an easy drive to the fun of downtown Hayward, if you are so inclined, but leaving this quiet spot was difficult for us! We all hope to be back there again, and would recommend it to anyone looking for serenity, comfort and beauty. (P.S. Steve - if you ever want to sell...... :)

Owner's Response: We are deeply appreciative of this review. It’s nice to see that our efforts to keep the cottage in first class shape are paying off. Just for the record, our driveway is easy accessible for people with a car or pickup. It’s just gets a little difficult if you are towing a trailer. Also, we discourage campfires. Our cottage is so close to the shoreline, that if it ever catches fire from a campfire and burns down, we would not be allowed to rebuild it. And that would make us very sad, as this charming little cottage at the waters edge would be gone forever.
