Make this charming apartment your home away from home in Brooklyn! With a private entrance in our brownstone home, the apartment has old Brooklyn charm with modern comfort. Located on a quiet, tree-lined block that was named the Greenest Block in Brooklyn in summer 2015 by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It's just a 3-minute walk to the subway station (the 'A' line, an express train) and a short subway ride to attractions in Brooklyn and Manhattan (about 20 minutes to Greenwich Village or downtown Manhattan). Grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and other amenities are within short walking distance. A great spot for families (we welcome children 6 years and older). A perfect base for exploring all New York City has to offer. We live underneath the vacation rental, so it's easy for us to receive you and give you the keys. We're happy to recommend our favorite spots and things to do, without being intrusive and while respecting your privacy, of course.
The apartment has a large bedroom with a dresser to store your clothes. The living/dining room has a sofa that converts into a king-sized bed. The dining table seats four. There is also a small sofa in the bedroom that converts into a single bed. The apartment is comfortable for a maximum of 4 people (or a family of 5 including children).
We provide towels, sheets, kitchen equipment, and basic kitchen supplies such as salt, pepper, sugar, tea, etc. Soap, shampoo, toilet paper, and basic first aid supplies are also provided. All utilities (including air conditioning or heat) and wi-fi are available free of charge.

About Kate and Brian
A translator and a teacher, we live underneath the vacation rental (it has its own private entrance) with our two kids. Some of our favorite things to do in New York are walking across the Brooklyn Bridge and eating in Chinatown, visiting great museums like the Met, MoMA, and the Brooklyn Museum, and visiting the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
Kate and Brian purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why Kate and Brian chose Bedford-Stuyvesant
We love this calm, pretty block with friendly neighbors, and the fact that it's so close to the A train with easy access into Manhattan.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment is spacious and filled with light, and we've stocked it with guidebooks and a collection of DVDs with movies set in Brooklyn and New York City.

Great Intro to Brooklyn!
We really liked the feel of the neighborhood. We were warmly greeted by Kate, who explained the ins and outs of the house and apt., which was spotless and spacious. Kate was responsive to the questions we texted, and we got along fine. We would stay there again.
The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that two things would have helped:
A microwave, or at least a baking pan to use in the oven, would have allowed us to order take-out and warm it up.
A more thorough and up-to-date list of good restaurants in the neighborhood would have been appreciated.
Thanks for the review! We're glad that you and Ray enjoyed your stay and we were happy having you as guests. I appreciate your suggestion about the baking pan; we will add one to our kitchen tools. (I'm afraid since counter space is limited, a microwave would take up too much space.) And we've now updated the restaurant list. So many new places have opened up in the neighborhood that it was hard to keep up!
Easy access to Manhattan, interesting neighbourhood. Good dinner at "Peaches" restaurant.
Quiet, comfortable, spacious. Good value. Bathroom could be better.
Enjoyable Stay In Brooklyn
The apartment is on the third floor of a four story brownstone and is very convenient to the subway, local restaurants and New York attractions. The small kitchen has a coffee maker, stove, refrigerator and a supply of utensils for cooking meals. There's a hot shower or tub if you want to soak. There's a large bedroom and a sofa that transforms into a bed. We enjoyed getting away from Times Square crowds and enjoyed visiting the neighborhoods and parks of Brooklyn. The best part is how much you save over Manhattan hotel rates!
Great apartment in an interesting neighbourhood
The apartment is stylish, large and in a lovely tree lined street. Kate the owner was wonderful, very communicative and even left a bottle of wine in the fridge as she knew it was my wife's birthday.
Beautiful, great location and very hospitable hosts
Made my guests stay in NYC fantastic!
spacious character home
Loved the space and the character of the brownstone. Hosts were very accessible by email. The neighborhood was both quaint and quirky and gave great representation of Bed-Stu and its inhabitants. Easy access to subway and the fabulous Peaches restaurant. We were only there for breakfast and sleeping so this space met our needs. Were impressed with the soundproofing as we never heard the home owners. Staying out past midnight sometimes proved challenging with the subway options.
Located on a quiet, residential block in Stuyvesant Heights, Brooklyn. With many flowers, plants, and trees, our block was voted the Greenest Block in Brooklyn. Grocery store, coffee shops, bakery, and excellent restaurants (Italian, French, southern American cuisine, pizza, soul food, sandwiches, etc.) are within short walking distance. It's just a three-minute walk to the subway station (the A line, an express train) and a short subway ride to sightseeing in Manhattan (about 20 minutes to Greenwich Village or downtown Manhattan). Enjoy the neighborhood charm of Brooklyn and explore Brooklyn attractions such as the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Prospect Park, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. At the same time, you'll have easy access to the exciting culture and nightlife of Manhattan. A perfect base for exploring all New York City has to offer!
