About Robert Biederman

Kimberly and I live with our three children in Wexford, PA. We are originally from SC where she and graduated from college. Kimberly works as a Teacher. I graduated from Medical University of South Carolina and am a cardiologist in Pittsburgh. What little time we have we enjoy visiting our Cabin and escaping the pressures of the hustle and bustle of the city rocking on the front porch while listening to the sounds of our 2 creeks.

Robert Biederman purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Robert Biederman chose Smoky Mountains

Nestled between two creeks, this is an ideal place to relax fish and enjoy all the quiet serene nature and a wonderful new log cabin with state-of-the-art Highcountry mountain versions. Maggie Valley Country Club is a 10 minute walk from our cabin. GhostTown is a 3 mile drive from our place as is Cataloochee Ski.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We has an absolutely wonderful stay at your cabin in the mountains. It is just as you described. It is close to Maggie to walk to yet secluded enough for privacy. We are not in the midst of rows and rows of cabins but set off dramatically facing the creek. It was warm enough that we slept with the windows open and could hear the water rushing by our window. Bob and Kimberly were very easy to discuss over the phone and the Internet and registration/payment was a breeze. Lots to do in Maggie. We will be back there again in the spring and have already reserved a week!

Great stay but needs improvement!

  • 4 of 5

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Bearfoot Creek, as well as the area. The house appears brand new and everything is in working order. At the same time, we did find a number of things that we felt were either falsely advertised or just not mentioned in the ad. We were a group of 3 adults and 4 children, the house ad claims there is ample sleeping for up to 9 people, that is simply not true. Both sleeper sofas upstairs were practically unusable as the mattresses were so worn down and basically hung through the frame. Also, the kids feet were up in the air, while their heads were down in a hole. We tried the mattress on the floor without the frame but even that was not possible since it was so thin and worn. Ultimately the kids all slept in the bed downstairs with one of the adults. The sleeper sofa in the upstairs bedroom was the same story. If the house is advertised to utilize those to sleep on, they need to be updated, otherwise the house comfortably accommodates 4 people, not 9. In addition, there were not enough blankets and we were there during the winter, thankfully one of our parties had brought their own blankets and even with that, we barely had enough. Towels was the same story.

As far as the house itself, the pictures online were definitely false, in fact so false that we did not recognize the place at first. In the pictures it looks as though the house sits on a large piece of land with two creeks and lots of place to run around and play. That is simply not the case. There is actually hardly any property to play on, as the house occupies most of the piece of land. There is one creek right next to the house but you can't really get to it as the banks are steep, the other creek is across a street with steady and fast traffic. Thankfully our children are old enough to know not to just run out there, but with smaller kids, I am not sure this would be a safe place.

Lastly the garbage situation was really not acceptable. We did not know until we got there that we had to drive the stinky garbage in our car to the next town to get rid off. While I am ok with there not being a receptacle right by the house, within walking distance would have been acceptable but not having to drive the trash. Neither of us was there with a pick up truck so we had to transport the garbage inside the vehicle.

Owner's Response: Thanks Melissa, we are glad you enjoyed your stay and we are glad you enjoyed all the comforts of home in our Home Away from Home Cabin. We have worked hard to make the place nice and homey. The location and charm as well as in such close proximity to Jonathan Creek, the bank of which across the way as you saw is owned by us, is ideal and one of the reason so many folks come back year after year. Thanks for your nice comments Bob and Kimberly.

Lovely home.

  • 4 of 5

We loved staying at your beautifully decorated home. The large TV in living room was wonderful and full of great channels. The towels are in need of attention though. They have that funny smell that comes when towels are left in washer too long. Could have used an extra roll of TP and thought that pillows really need pillow protectors. Loved the porch and the steady sound of rushing creek water. We were thrilled that the house wasn't located a 1/2 hour up the mountain side since we really wanted to get out and explore the area. We would definitely rent again.

Owner's Response: Lisa, thanks for your reply. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and that you found our place so easy to get to, not a long arduous drive up a long mountain drive. The TV that you enjoyed is brand spanking new, as we will endeavor to do for the towels; not sure what happened there. Remember, as with all cabin rentals in Maggie and in general, you have to bring your own disposeables such as TP as per the instructions. So, you should see the cabin today with a light white layering of snow; a little piece of Heaven. Again thanks, Bob and Kimberly

Very nice

  • 5 of 5

Bob, thanks so much. Lovely setting, comfortable cabin. While our daughter did not visit Sandra's sister visited several nights and we utilized the upstairs which is quite spacious and comfortable. We had a great time, many things to do in the area. We located the elk and had wonderful opportunities to see up close. Short review as we have a long drive back to Fl and leaving momentarily. Recommend Nanny Patch unquestionably! Godspeed, Dick and Sandra Shannonhouse
