About this property
Lucky Duck Private Room-Near Mendenhall Glacier and Auke Bay Offering DISCOUNT ON TOURS!
This private room in a shared lodge is much like a hotel room with internet, cable and streaming tv, as well as it's own private bathroom. It has a comfortable queen bed and a forest view from the large windows. The room is enhanced with Luxury granite and other stone finishes throughout including custom floor to ceiling tiled shower with glass shower door and a granite vanity. The Lucky Duck room also has a washer and dryer in its private bathroom. Lucky Duck is on the second level of the property.
The common area is grandiose with master craftsmanship and eclectic decor. There you will share a kitchen and bar seating area. The entire lodge is a piece of art to be showcased. Owner, Johney Engle uses his artistic talent to create amazing kitchens for homeowners. He opened, what is still, the only stone fabrication shop from Surrey British Columbia to Anchorage Alaska, in 1985. He built his home and shop here with pride, branding it with custom rock and other 3-dimensional art pieces throughout. Your private studio apartment is no exception and host Johney will help you have a local Alaska experience! If you like the outdoors, you'll love the trails and fishing spots within walking distance. There are many fun, excursions a mile away at Statter harbor in Auke Bay, including kayaking, paddle boarding, and whale watching. Johney is there to point you in the right direction for the experiences you're looking for. Johney's rock fabrication shop is below your room with operations from 8am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Shop noise can be heard from your room.
Lucky Duck is a private room inside the shared area of Precision Lodge. Access to the Lodge is shared with occupants of up to two additional rooms within this area. The common kitchen features refrigerator, dishwasher, hot plate, microwave, and toaster oven. The property borders the Tongass National Forest and in close proximity to Auke Lake, Auke Bay, the University of Alaska and the famous Mendenhall Glacier. It's the perfect base for an adventurous Juneau visit with lots of local flare. You can rent fishing poles and bicycles on site for use within close proximity.
An artist had a dream and he's inviting you to enjoy it. This is an experience, not just a place to stay. You'll be thrilled and inspired. Precision Lodge stories will be told as you recant your Alaska vacation memories into the future. Johney is passionate and fun. His work is unique. It's edgy, and it's hard-core. Much of his art is three-dimensional, assemblage style. Johney figured out that he could make kitchens into art, so he studied rock shops around the country, created his own tools, and opened his stone fabrication shop in his home garage in 1999. Johney's eye for the perfect rock and design to match his customer's personality landed him on the cover of Southeast Living Magazine. He's a classic entrepreneur, turning one sale into another tool, and eventually he built his shop in the back, and expanded the home around it until a masterpiece was created, and ready to share with you. Self-portraiture by late Skylar Engle is displayed throughout the property. These two Engle's have produced brilliant art, with outstandingly contrasting styles to interest you. I
Self check-in at your convenience after the scheduled check-in time. This means that late arrival is not a problem. You'll be given the lock box code a few days prior to your arrival. Check-in is at 4pm and check out is at 11am. We will offer you early check-in and late check-out options if it's available, a couple days before your arrival/departure for a fee of $50. Host Johney lives and works on property, so it would be unlikely to not run into him at some point. He'll leave you alone, or interact, at whatever level you desire. Kelli is close by and easy to get ahold of by phone or messaging.

I've been staying here for several years - it's amazing!
Kelli and her staff are amazing! The Lucky Duck has a super comfortable bed, fridge, TV, a cute dresser, an enormous closet (with hangers!), a beautiful shower (with soap/shampoo/conditioner!), and a washer/dryer. One wall is a huge window so you can see the lovely trees just outside the house. The communal kitchen is equipped with dishes/coffeepot/pans/pots/hotplates/griddle/fridge/freezer/eccentric decor/dartboard/cards/etc. The upstairs communal living area has a comfy sectional couch situated with additional eccentric decor such as cool granite guitars. The house also has a hot tub that is relaxing after a long day hiking/fishing/etc. It's truly the best place in town!

Johnnys Awesome Place
Such a fun place to stay. They take seriously the importance of making your stay pleasant. My stay was awesome.
This is one of the best places we’ve stayed. Very well designed, all modern appliances / facilities and large common space. It was very cozy and space efficient, yet had a full size washer / dryer in unit! We would definitely stay here again.
The room was super cute and comfortable, the shared kitchen area was convenient and welcoming, and the location was beautiful! The instructions and communications were clear and helpful. I would totally stay again!

Great - Expectations Met
Awesome place to stay! Much nicer than anticipated and would stay again! The host is responsive and helpful! Thank you!
This room worked great for my stay. I had the place basically to myself, because the other rooms were not booked. It was nice having a dryer in the room to dry wet clothes after a day in the rain.

Beautiful and relaxing
I was amazed by the beauty and comfort provided. It is just what I needed! Thank you.
The stay was great but i do wish you guys would supply more than 3/4 a roll of toilet paper and one garbage sack. When someone books the place for a full month. That's the only area i felt was lacking. Otherwise it was a great place to stay and I'd do it again.

Perfect Stay for Hiking, University Visits, and Walking to Coffee, Brewery, More!
Kelli's place is always a blessing for me and I've been staying here for a few years as my daughter attends the nearby college. It's walkable to hiking, coffee, beer, and meals! I've stayed in Lucky Duck as well as Baked Alaskan and both are wonderful! Super cozy, comfy bed, warm, beautiful shower, fluffy towels, and access to the kitchen (fridge, freezer, coffee, cooking range, etc) is very handy! The overall community space has amazingly interesting decor - specific to the area and super interesting. You will be grateful if you are able to book a stay here! Happy Travels! : )
My 13-year-old granddaughter & myself ventured to Juneau to visit her aunt, my oldest daughter. Had a fabulous time! Lucky Duck & the house were mostly beyond my expectations: the decor was AMAZING!! Artwork, etc were unbelievable. We had easy access, in & out. Our own washer/dryer. Shared kitchen with one other room, but no one but us ever used it!

Mid at best
Empty. Nobody there, very strange check in process. The room was clean, but there was no trash can, no clear way to take out trash or instruction provided. No privacy curtain on the bathroom window was a bit strange and no shower curtain. Room smelled strange but was clean upon inspection. Not worth what I paid.

Did not meet our expectations
Stuffy, no screens, no air circulation. No chair of any kind (uncomfortable stool provided does not count). Computer desk not needed, and very hard to use. A small table would have been much better. Bed height made it almost impossible to use to sit on (and we are not short), and mattress moved from side to side. No towel racks at all. Narrow shower opening. A large person would not be able to shower. A lamp near the bed would have been nice.
Great location and perfect for what we were looking for in a short term rental while we were visiting. The hot tub was amazing!

The most beautiful air Bnb I have ever stayed at
Somehow I just submitted a review and the title came out as disgusting and it was the exact opposite. I did not type that in and have no idea how that happened

Disgusting
Honestly, one of the coolest air bnbs I have ever stayed at. Almost wish I had stayed there my whole visit because it wasn't that expensive for everything you get. A full kitchen with a good amount of food. The kitchen was spectacular and the rock and tile work was beyond impressive. The room was incredible with a queen size bed, dresser, closet, fridge, freezer. Then the bathroom was spectacular. A walk in shower beautifully tiled, a really really nice washer and dryer and a huge mirror with great lighting. Then even had shampoo, conditioner and body wash. It was so easy to find, great location close to good hiking trails. This place was incredible and beautifully designed.
