Apartments in a former cork factory, near the Mediterranean Sea and the Spanish border

This airy apartment (Manolo, A2) is located on the ground floor of our elaborately restored cork factory, in a quiet and central location in the middle of Maureillas-las Illas, at the foot of the Pyrenees foothills (les Albères), with its own terrace with a view of our water basin, parts of the village and Albères.

The apartment has a nice volume and offers enough space for 4 people on 71 square meters. It is decorated in a modern style. Non smoking, smoking allowed outside only.

There are 2 bedrooms with a double bed (box spring, 180 x 200 cm), each with a shower / toilet "ensuite". Large living / dining room with fully equipped kitchen area (ceramic hob, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer, oven, microwave on request).

Flat TV (80cm diagonal, ASTRA-SAT) WiFi, bed linen, hand and bath towels. Thanks to underfloor heating / cooling, it is also interesting for longer rental periods in winter (e.g. Kurlaub, thermal baths nearby, thermes du Boulou and Amélie-les-Bains), prices on request.

From the terrace area in front with 4 chairs and table there is a beautiful view of the Albères, parts of the village and our courtyard.

Our large graveled courtyard with water basin, various shady and sunny places, as well as a covered summer kitchen and Mediterranean shrubs is available to everyone. We think that a maximum of 3 cars should be parked there, otherwise access only for loading and unloading!

Our place Maureillas:

Despite its just 2600 inhabitants, our village offers a very good infrastructure: 2 bakers, 1 butcher, a fairly large SPAR supermarket, 1 restaurant, 1 bar / restaurant, 1 bar / tabac, large pharmacy and small medical center. everything not more than 300 m on foot. Leisure area with boules, barbecue areas and horse course. Larger supermarkets 5 km. Many events in the pre and high season!

Activities:

Hiking, mountain hiking, bike or mountain bike tours (everything possible directly from our house), swimming / pedal boating in the nearby swimming lake (5 km, with bar / restaurant on the beach), swimming and snorkeling in the Mediterranean (20 min), windsurfing spot in Leucate ( 75 min).

For culture and nature lovers:

Many churches and abbeys with medieval frescoes from the 12th and 13th centuries. Century nearby, musée d'art modern in Céret and Collioure, musée Maillol near Port-Vendres, Dali Museum in Figueras, Palais of the Mallorcan kings in Perpignan, old town of Girona, day tour with Cathar castles to Carcassonne, monasteries in Arles -sur-Tech and Elne, site de paulille between Port-Vendres and Banyuls. Gorges de la foue, vineyards and coastal hiking trail, mimosa blossom from the beginning of February, cherry and almond blossom from the middle of March.

Mediterranean at Argeles (20 min), Collioure25 min), Spanish border (6 km), Figueras (30 min), Girona (60 min), Perpignan (25 min), Céret (10 min). Many of these destinations can also be easily reached with the € 1 bus (2 hours of bus travel with a line change for € 1 / person).

By car: take the last exit A9 le Boulou, then another 4 km

By bus: to Perpignan (Eurolines or FLIX bus), then 1 € bus or pick-up service (surcharge)

By train: Perpignan TGV station, then rental car, € 1 bus or pick-up service (surcharge)

By plane: Girona (Ryan-Air), Perpignan (from Germany, England or Ireland with Ryan-Air, depending on the season).
