Hostelry 'Frau Holle'
In the heart of Germany, in the northern Hessian highlands between Kassel, Göttingen and Mühlhausen, lies the traditional hostelry Frau Holle (what means 'Mother Hulda').
The detached property from 1884 in the typical half-timbered nestles on a forested mountain flank and borders the nature reserve Bilstein in the picturesque Höllental (hell valley or formerly also called Hulda's Valley) with the remains of the castle Bilstein.
With its guesthouse and the cozy tearoom (currently closed) in the former dance hall, it offers an ideal starting point for leisurely hikes in beautiful nature on a variety of premium hiking trails or trips to the old half-timbered towns along the German half-timbered street or the Werra-Burgen-Steig.

The completely renovated guesthouse in an idyllic and quiet secluded location offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The object with great attention to detail, divided into 2 apartments, fulfills its guests everything you can expect from a holiday apartment. A generously equipped kitchen with all modern amenities. A fireplace and a cozy living area invite you to cuddle up. The modern bathrooms of the house have shower and toilet. Both apartments have bright bedrooms. On the inviting south-facing balcony you can unwind and leave everyday life behind.

The apartment 'Wildcat'
What could be better than returning to the peace and comfort of a spacious holiday home after a hike in the beautiful countryside or a trip through the diverse landscape of the Hessian highlands? Nothing. The 'Wildcat' offers you on 55 square meters enough space to spend the whole day relaxing extensively. On romantic evenings, the flames blaze in the fireplace, while soft music sounds from the radio. If you do not want to cook yourself in the kitchen, which is equipped with a stove, oven and dishwasher, you will find numerous good restaurants in the vicinity. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer on the balcony at the end of the day, before falling into a good night's sleep in the spacious bedroom.

Urlaub mit Hund in der Natur

Alles in Allem haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Ideal zum Wandern. Traurig nur, dass ich in keinem Landgasthof essen konnte. 6 Häuser waren geschlossen,obwohl im Internet geöffnet stand. Dennoch würde ich gerne wieder kommen.

In fantastischer Lage direkt im Wald, Wanderwege direkt vor der Tür. Die Wohnung ist perfekt zum entspannen - einfach zum Wohlfühlen. Auch unsere Hündin fühlte sich pudelwohl. Die am Wochenende geöffnete Teestube ist sehr gemütlich und es gibt herrlichen selbstgebackenen Kuchen. Der Garten lädt zum Genießen und entspannen ein.

Premium Wanderwege vor der Tür

Alleinlage und ein Kamin - Das waren Voraussetzungen und genau das haben wir bekommen. Anfangs war es irritierend, dass die Vermieter*innen, die gleich nebenan wohnen, bei Fragen eine SMS haben wollten, vor allem weil dort kein Netzempfang ist, aber letztlich war es sehr angenehm, keine (z.B. kontrollierenden) Besuche zu bekommen. Von den Nachbar*innen aus der einzigen anderen Ferienwohnung haben wir kaum mitbekommen, dass sie überhaupt da waren. Die beiden Einzelbetten konnten problemlos zusammen geschoben werden. Was wir uns noch gewünscht hätten: Vorhänge am Schlafzimmerfenster. Der Wanderweg geht wirklich direkt am Haus entlang. Besonders positiv hervorzuheben sind die bequemen Matratzen. Die Küche ist super ausgestattet und im Eingangsbereich ist eine Vitrine mit Marmelade & sehr guter Honig aus eigener Produktion. (Die Marmelade haben wir nicht probiert.) Wer vor hat, die Abende mit Netflix etc zu verbringen: Das WLAN mach da nur begrenzt mit. Mit einem guten Buch vor dem Kamin sind die Abende perfekt. Fazit: Wenn wir endlich mal einen Hund haben, werden wir dort wieder anfragen. (Bis zu drei Hunde sind dort erlaubt.)

Zunächst begeisterte mich das Tal und die Lage des ehemaligen Gasthofes Frau Holle. Wie im Märchen! Wald, Waldwege, helle Lichtungen . . .Wanderwege direkt vor dem Haus. Super nette Gastgeber, eine Wohnung licht mit Wohlfühlatmosphäre, Blümchen vor den Fenstern, Kaminofen, gute Betten. Es fehlte an nichts. Danke Familie Wortmann! Einzig etwas störend die Talstraße, aber nur tagsüber werktags. Obwohl Hunde erlaubt sind, haben wir davon nichts bemerkt und es war super sauber und gepflegt.

Wir hatten wunderbare (Wander) Tage in der schönen Wohnung im Berkatal am Wald. Es war alles vorhanden, was wir brauchten. Lediglich die nahe Straße, auf der es aber abends und nachts ruhig war, war ein kleiner Wermutstropfen. Sehr nette Vermieter.
