About The Owner

In the States I run a manufacturing business. When I,m in Costa Rica at 'Villa Cielo', I relax like no other place in the world. The atmosphere is truly magical. Fish, golf, explore or just have a drink with my Chef and friend Ernesto & you will learn the meaning of 'Pura Vida'

The Owner purchased this villa in 2005

Why The Owner chose Jaco

Location, location, location, is the main reason I purchased the property. The pacific view is magnificent. The mountainview is a close second. You have the feeling of absolute seclusion, yet are only 15 minutes away from all the restaurants & entertainment you could ever want.

What makes this villa unique

Villa Cielo is a photographer's paradise. You can spend hours viewing the wildlife & fauna that abound the property. Toucans, monkeys, iguanas, & several species of hawks are just a few of the attractions that will grace your lens.

Even more incredible than the photos

  • 5 of 5

From the moment you arrive, your breath is taken away by the majestic views from the property. Waking up to that serene paradise every morning gives homesickness a real run for its money.

The staff are warm and inviting, making you feel right at home in attending to all of your needs. Villa Cielo was the perfect vacation destination and I couldn’t imagine our trip being the same anywhere else.

Luxurious and Easy

  • 5 of 5

Easiest vacation I have ever taken. This was a first family trip with 15 of my family members. When i say everything was handled for us i do mean everything from the time we got off the plane to the time we got back to the airport.

We landed and Catherine and Angelo had arranged a 15 passenger van with a small trailer to get us all to the house together. Upon arriving to the house we were greeted by Emilio and Marisela who had the table set and a BBQ waiting for us, what a pleasure after a long day of travel. Our youngest was my brothers 9 year old who walked through the house saying I feel like we are rich!

I asked Catherine for help arranging my dads 78th birthday dinner at a local restaurant and she took over. Upon arriving at the restaurant the owner greeted us like long lost friends and catered to us like we were royalty. She even had a beautiful cake made and delivered to the restaurant for us.

I simply can not say enough good things about the week and the house. A tour guide came over on day one and arranged all of our excursions for the week. They were all amazing, do the horse and waterfall one!

The views are spectacular even though we were there in rainy season we still had son 90% of every day, frankly the clouds, when there were welcome. We saw hawks, iquana's, toucan's, gecko's, frogs and even fed monkeys all right at the house. The monkeys were a real treat.

I have never stayed at a house where there was full time staff and I have to say as much as I loved it I think my mother was over joyed at the level they catered to us.

One of my favorite destinations ever!

Up in the Sky

  • 5 of 5

I came to Villa Cielo for a bachelor party with 15 guys. This house is beautiful and the view is awesome! The house is on top of a mountain but the road isnt as bad as many make it out to be. Dont get me wrong, I wouldnt want to walk it up or down but in the car its not scary at all (and I do not like heights). Its a smooth drive on a narrow road.

The house is about 15 minutes away from jaco. Taxi's are easy to get, the staff can call one for you and they usually arrive at the house within 15 minutes.

The house is HUGE and the view is amazing. Every room has its own bathroom. The first room on the right has 2 double beds and all the other rooms have either a king or queen. I believe most of the rooms (except the first one on the right) has a futon in it as well. Plus if you need more beds they will give you air mattresses. Personally the best room in my opinion is the first one on the right.

They cool thing is all the wildlife that is around the house. You see everything from Iguana's, no cool birds to monkeys (especially in the early mornings). If you are scared of animals dont be, I didnt see one critter inside the house once and most of the animals I only saw early in the morning.

A few weeks before we came Angelo (the owner) informed us that his chef has left to go back to Nicaragua. He recommend Chef Janett which really scared me cause none of the reviews below mentioned her. Luckily I found reviews about her on tripadvisor. I dont know how the old chef was but I would be shocked if anyone was/could be better than chef janett. Chef Janett had a 3 course dinner ready for us upon arrival that was honestly one of the best meals of my life. Every night she would make us the most amazing meals that blew our mind away. I am in a group chat with everyone who went on the trip and everyone says the one thing we miss most is Chef Janett's amazing cooking. Also she isn't just a chef she becomes your friend/mom away from home. Chef Janett grew up in America so she speaks perfect English and was able to translate for us anything we needed but what really stood out most was that I personally got sick on the trip (I got cellulitis of the face) and she was my savior. She sent me to the doctors and told me exactly where to go and who to ask for. She walked me through everything step by step.

Anyways if you are thinking of renting this house I recommend it and definitely upgrade to Chef Janett (she is amazing).

Wonderful stay at Villa Cielo!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had an amazing four nights at Villa Cielo ("Heaven's House"). The fantastic Emilio catered to our every need and kept everything tidy while the friendly housekeepers made sure the house was spotless. The property manager, Catherine, was always easily reachable to take care of anything that we wanted, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great trip. We were definitely spoiled by the Villa Cielo team, and are grateful for their attentive care and service. The views from the house are stunning and the spacious property is extremely private but also conveniently located to a great beach bar ("The Backyard"), and not far from the town of Jaco. We saw toucans and large iguanas from the pool, and heard monkeys from time to time. One fantastic recommendation from Angelo, the property owner, was hiring Chef Jane'tt. She is a professional and friendly private chef that can come to the house to prepare meals, and her food was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend Villa Cielo to anyone looking for an easy, comfortable, and relaxing stay in Costa Rica and hopefully will get a chance to visit again someday.

Awesome Place - great staff

  • 5 of 5

Melvin picked us up at the airport and had cold beers waiting for us. The staff met us at the house and were super attentive and kept the place spotless. Catherine and Emlio were great and made us some really good meals- I would highly recommend getting breakfast made every day. Keep in mind that the property is a little off the beaten path and it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get to Jaco by cab. However, the place is so big and the property is so nice we spent a lot of time at the house.

The place has Internet and you can plug your phone into the speaker system for music out by the pool. Prepare for an insanely steep driveway when you get there. However upon arrival at the top of the mountain where the house is, the views are breathtaking.

I would note that the beach if not necessarily in walking distance but rather a short five minute drive down the hill to Playa Hermosa. Keep in mind that the waves at Playa Hermosa are quite sizable, so if you plan on going surfing and you've never done it before I wouldn't recommend starting out here. I tried to go out there for my second time and didn't last very long.

If you are going to get liquor to bring to the place I would suggest getting it at the airport, because the stores in Jaco really didn't have much. There's plenty to do in Jaco. Also, don't bother getting the local currency, everyone will take American dollars if you have them.

We took a day and Melvin drove us to Manuel Antonio national Park where we went zip lining and also did a wave Runner tour. That was well worth the trip.

Angelo's place was really nice and we plan to go back next year.

One last thing for anyone planning to come down here. Don't bother packing any longsleeve shirts or any closed toe shoes. All we needed to go out was shorts and T-shirts and flip-flops. It was at least 90° every day and very hot at night as well. Some of the restaurants in Jaco did not even have air-conditioning. So pack light, you certainly don't need to wear a lot of clothing in Costa Rica!
