- Hot tub w/ mountain views – perfect after a day outdoors
- Large deck, fire pit & BBQ grill
- Scenic mountain views on private 5‑acre lot
- Full kitchen, WiFi, TV & dedicated workspace

The Space:
Cold mountain air drifts through the trees as you arrive, the quiet broken only by the wind moving across the ridgeline. From this mountaintop perch the landscape stretches endlessly, winter skies opening to long‑distance views and soft morning light spilling across the hills. Evenings invite slower moments—steam rising from the hot tub, stars overhead, and the stillness that only a secluded mountain setting can offer.
Sleeping Arrangements
The chalet comfortably sleeps four guests in two bedrooms, each equipped with a queen bed. Two full bathrooms provide convenience for couples, families, or friends, and include bathroom essentials for an easy stay.
Indoor Living
The living area centers around a TV for streaming and reliable WiFi that supports movie nights and video calls. A dedicated workspace in a separate room with its own door offers a quiet spot for focused work. Heating keeps the interior cozy through colder months, making the cabin a welcoming base year‑round.
Kitchen & Dining
A full kitchen with major appliances and an island invites you to prepare meals at your own pace. Whether you’re cooking dinner after a day outdoors or lingering over coffee while the mountains wake up, the space feels natural and functional.
Outdoor Living
Step onto the spacious deck to take in expansive mountain views that stretch across the private 5‑acre lot. The hot tub provides a warm soak no matter the temperature, while the fire pit creates a natural gathering place for evenings under the stars. A BBQ grill is available when weather permits, and the open backyard blends seamlessly into the surrounding forest.
Location & Exploration
Nestled on a private 5‑acre lot bordered by a 37‑acre nature preserve, the chalet offers true seclusion while remaining within easy reach of outdoor attractions along the Cacapon River. Whitewater rafting, canoeing, fishing, and off‑roading are about 20 minutes away, and additional wilderness areas provide hiking and exploring opportunities. Nearby towns, historic sites, and seasonal activities are a short drive from the retreat.
Pet‑Friendly Details
The chalet welcomes dogs and is family‑friendly, making it ideal for guests traveling with children and a canine companion. Cats are not allowed due to allergies. Free parking is provided on the premises, and self check‑in is handled via a lockbox.
Good to Know
The deck, stairs, and walkways are swept before each arrival, but natural leaves, pollen, or similar may still be present, especially during certain seasons. Your understanding of the ever‑present touch of nature is appreciated, adding to the authentic mountain experience.

About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Hickory Hill in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
