Mountaintop Getaway is perfectly situated on a high elevation, secluded end-lot on top of Sunrock Mountain in Blue Ridge, Georgia. It's been easy to see why Blue Ridge has become such a popular North Georgia destination since we first discovered the area in 2002. Throughout the year, our family has enjoyed vacationing because of the abundance of recreational activities like rafting, fishing, boating, and hiking. The pristine beauty of mountain landscapes, trails, scenic overlooks, and rivers make for the ultimate getaway.
You truly have to stay at the Mountaintop Getaway to appreciate all it has to offer!
Dave Terry purchased this cabin in 2002
After an exhaustive, one-year search we finally found 'the one.' In 2002, we purchased the premium, private, secluded lot that sits on top of Sunrock Mountain. We subsequently brought in a master craftsman to build a truly custom cabin. We tried to spare no detail in furnishing the interior with upscale lodge rustic décor. The close proximity to the city of Blue Ridge and nearby recreational activities was an added bonus. Located just 75 miles from Atlanta, it is easy to see why Blue Ridge has become such a popular North Georgia travel destination.
The Mountaintop Getaway cabin is a luxurious retreat that offers a majestic, 70+ mile, year-round view of the Appalachian Mountains. The cabin is ideally situated in the heart of nature and tranquility on one of the most private lots on Sunrock Mountain. Again, the long-range view is simply breath-taking.
Mountaintop Getaway boasts a number of unique features like a 7-person jacuzzi hot tub that sits under a covered gazebo with a surround sound stereo system, a 200+ movie DVD collection, an outdoor fire pit, a high-powered telescope for star gazing, large HD TVs on every level, iPod docking stations, Galaga/Ms Pacman Arcade game, exercise bike, and a wrap around bar in the basement. The cabin offers 3 spacious bedrooms, 3 full baths, a screened porch with fireplace, a huge outdoor deck with a 9-foot stainless steel grill, Wii game system, poker/card table, and fully-equipped kitchen.
The cabin is located next to an abundance of recreational activities like white water rafting on the Ocoee River (home of the 1996 Olympic White Water Rafting Competition), horseback riding, fishing, boating, hiking, canoeing, and golf to name just a few. Of course, you are allowed to simply “chill out” and escape city life by taking a nap in the hammock, enjoying the fresh mountain air on a rocking chair, or walking down a nature trail.
The cabin was professionally decorated with high-end furnishings and lots of attention was paid to the little details. There are extra perks like his/her robes, board games, corn-hole, and cookbooks. Pets are welcome. No smoking is allowed.
Loved the house – we do not want to leave. The weather was perfect and loved downtown Blue Ridge. The 5 of us “girls” even had a fire going in the pit. We never saw a bear, but were looking. We enjoyed the sitting on the porch, building a fire, the hot-tub, and relaxation. Thank you for letting us stay in your cabin!
The property was beautiful, had a awesome view, well equipped with everything you need..The owner was very nice and answered all of our questions..Thanks Dave for sharing your home it is beautiful...
This was our first family vacation in many, many years. The cabin is absolutely amazing , from all of the amenities provided and one of the most beautiful views of the mountains. We put away all of our mobile devices (including our two teenage children, YAY!!) and truly appreciated the quality family time we shared. Even though the cabin is nestled in the mountains, we were only 10 minutes away from the main town and local events. Our visit to Mercier Orchards was unbelievable, town folks are gracious and kind and the orchard was fun, especially all of the delish baked goods, homemade chocolates, yummy!! One of the most enjoyable things we did was sit out by the fire pit each night, roasting hot dogs, making smores, singing and laughing - precious memories we will have for a life time. We continue to recommend Dave's cabin as the BEST place to stay and location in Blue Ridge. God Bless you Dave for sharing your beautiful home with us. Can't wait for our next trip.
This was our second visit to this cabin and we fell in love with it even more! We had several family members and friends staying at the cabin and I believe I can speak for everyone when I say, this was an amazing trip. We had plenty of room for everyone and some of us never even left the cabin.....was no need to :) The view and location were spectacular and thankfully the weather was just perfect the entire time. Being secluded and private is a big plus since when you think about staying in a cabin you just don't want to be in a cookie cutter type of community, and believe me, it is not! We took full advantage of the grill, hot tub, arcade game, and fire pit by soaking, relaxing, making smores, grilling all types of food, and even roasting a deer roast (we had some pretty awesome cooks). The owner Dave is the absolute best and nicest guy we have ever dealt with when booking a stay at a hotel or cabin. If you do need anything at all, before or while staying at the cabin he is on point by quickly responding and taking care of your every need. We are already talking about our next stay at the cabin and quite honestly wouldn't even consider another place while staying in Blue Ridge. Thank you Dave for once again sharing your beautiful cabin with us, it really does feel like home to us!
Our family (2 adults + 2 children ages 5 and 9) did a last minute stay to Mountaintop Getaway and it was an amazing trip. I cannot say enough about the location - it is on a private, secluded end lot and very close to everything you would want to do during a north Georgia trip (including downtown Blue Ridge). The long range view is absolutely spectacular. This was the cleanest place we have ever stayed. Dave has put in top notch amenities including stainless steel appliances, a 9 foot premium grill, Arcade game, 3 large flat-screen TVs, gazebo covered hot-tub, Keurig coffee machine, etc. It was a lot of fun roasting smores around the bonfire pit at night. The booking process was very easy and seamless. We would highly recommend Mountaintop Getaway. We have stayed at over 10 cabins in the area - this is by far the best value for your dollar you will find in the north Georgia area.
Im not sure how old these reviews are or if they're as old as the pictures or not but after reading them and seeing the pics we were expecting a luxury cabin that we are used to renting for the last 15 years. There were huge ants, beetle bugs, scorpions, a centipede and carpenter ants chewing through the wood in one of the bedroom. A LOT of bugs throughout the home. As I sat on the couch the second night, a roach crawled across my leg when I was eating a slice of pizza. Of coarse the pizza went flying. Coming face to face with a scorpion in the bathtub was not something I ever want to experience again. He did have pest control come out the day we were leaving though. All the ceiling fans or lamps had dark bulbs in them which made it hard to see in the rooms. Just gave it a dark gloomy feeling. Even the pest control guy complained about it being so dark in the rooms for him to see what was going on. The mattresses, they have to be the original mattresses because they were loud enough to wake you up out of a dead sleep. My employee heard it through the phone when I sat on one. Nevertheless, having 4 bulging discs in my neck and bad lower back problems, I got no sleep for 5 days and was in pain. Not his fault for that part but the mattresses needed replacing at the least 5 years ago. The kitchen had no pantry nor an empty cabinet so we had to put all of our groceries on the counters and floor which was 2 weeks worth. Due to the condition of this cabin we could not stay. This is in summer season so everything was booked. I finally got a call with a cancellation so we took it! Unfortunately, it was a lot more than what we planned but we were running out of options. My husband took the girls sight seeing, horseback riding, etc and I stayed home on the phone and Internet for 3 of those days trying to find a place for us to go. It was a huge inconvenience and me losing days with my family on our family vacation. He did answer all my calls and texts and I appreciated his attentiveness but . I just dont feel it was in renting condition and a lot needs to be updated. :(
My wife and I have rented more than 20+ houses on VRBO, but this was by far the best house ever !! Dave has done such a wonderful job of outfitting this house and there is nothing that has been left off the list. He has thought of everything - my wife was very impressed all the way to the deer racks for the toliet paper holders. The hot tub - awesome after a tough day on the links... just sitting on the deck and watching the thunderstorms over the mountains was fabulous. Blue Ridge is a great little town with plenty of places to eat. I am now "hooked" on White water rafting on the Oconee - fabulous !! Great trip - Thank you, Dave - we WILL be back !!
