The cottage features two charming bedrooms and two bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom offers a King bed, smart TV, and a detached full bathroom. Upstairs, the spacious suite includes a King bed, two Twin beds, a smart TV, and an en suite full bathroom. This layout is perfect for small groups, two couples, or families seeking comfort and privacy.

Amenities: Our cozy cottage is designed for you to rest, relax, and recharge. Enjoy all the comforts of home, including 3 Smart TVs, Nest thermostats, a gas stove, full-size fridge, dishwasher, and fully stocked kitchen tools. Safety: We have a circle driveway—please pull forward onto the street rather than backing out, as Highlands’ curved roads can create blind spots. To keep wildlife away, do not leave trash or food outside overnight. We’ve provided two bear-proof trash cans for your convenience.

Pets: we welcome dogs, so your furry companion can enjoy the mountain getaway too! Please add them to the reservation.

We had the loveliest stay at this beautiful and thoughtfully appointed cottage! The location couldn’t be more convenient. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable, the living space cozy, the kitchen well stocked— we cooked several meals and every instrument we needed was there. The communication before and during our stay was excellent, and we particularly appreciated the easy checkout process that made our exit much easier with two kids under 5 years old. We cannot wait to return!

Charming cabin with a cozy atmosphere. We especially enjoyed the gas fireplace, which we used each morning and evening. Our friends stayed in the downstairs bedroom while we had the spacious upstairs room; both were exceptionally clean and comfortable. The kitchen is small but very well equipped, with a wide variety of coffee-making options. Conveniently located near shops and great restaurants, making it an excellent place to stay.

The property description and photograph does not reflect the entire situation We stayed only one night out of the twelve we booked (and paid for) for the following reasons:1. The property, as photographed does not reflect the fact that the front door is 20 to 25 feet from busy Highway 64 to Franklin, NC. It is a dangerous situation, particularly if you have to walk a pet. It is extremely difficult to walk outside the property without endangering yourself walking beside Highway 64. 2. A circular driveway is touted as a safety feature. It is not and is misleading. Vision from the Highlands end of the driveway is partially blocked by foliage from bushes . This is a potentially dangerous situation. 3. The home is pet friendly; but nowhere does it state that there is nowhere to walk a pet on the property. The front of the property is virtually all gravel; and the sides and back consist of a stone walkway. We had to cross the busy highway multiple times to walk our little dog in the parking lot of the restaurant across the street. This was disconcerting, particularly at night.4. Traffic noise from the busy highway (20 -25 feet from the front door and bedroom) did not abate until approximately 11 pm and started again at approximately 4:30 am.

We’re sorry the cottage was not the right fit for your particular needs, especially when traveling with your dog. We would, however, like to point out that the property’s location is already specified in the listing: the cottage is 1.5 miles from Main Street and directly across from On the Verandah. The description also notes Highlands’ curved roads and blind spots and instructs guests to use the circular driveway so they can pull forward rather than back onto the road. The cottage is dog-friendly, meaning dogs are welcome, but we do not advertise a fenced yard, lawn, dog run, or dedicated pet-walking area. When guests have a particular requirement not addressed in the listing, we are always happy to answer questions before booking. While this has not been the experience reflected in our 83 guest reviews over four years of hosting, we respect that your experience was different. Because your review mentions staying only one night of a 12-night reservation, we also want to provide context. The reservation was already outside the cancellation period when you chose to leave. Nevertheless, we offered to reimburse you for any remaining nights we were able to rebook. Unfortunately, the reservation remained on the calendar, so those dates were not available for other guests to book. We regret that the property did not meet your expectations.

Attracted by the picturesque surroundings, the published author Edmond Geanta came here to finish one of his books. He and his wife, Andreea fell in love with the house and decided to buy it.
