Excellent location

  • 5 of 5

Great spot... so easy to get to all the "must see" San Diego attractions but also pleasant to hang out if we just wanted to relax "at home". The apartment is very light and airy with good flow. All the furnishings are comfortable and it is decorated in a very urban but also warm and friendly style. The beds are comfortable and the place is immaculate. The kitchen is fully equipped and it would be easy to have guests over for cocktails or a whole meal if one wants to take a break from eating out. But why would one want to do that when the GasLamp Quarter is just a short walk away with a ton of wonderful restaurants and night life and interesting stores? We also enjoyed the close proximity to the bay front which has many interesting places to enjoy from boutiques to the historic ship "Midway" which is next to the dock for boats that provide 1-2 hour narrated tours of the harbor. We also found it very easy to use public transportation to visit the fabulous Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo and the Cabrillo National Monument. There is a trolley connection just a short walk away and we used it to take trips to Tijuana, Old Town and Little Italy. We opted not to rent a car and did not find it difficult to get around. There are two parking spaces available with the apartment (I think) but we didn't use them. San Diego is such a great city to visit and I think this is the best area to stay in for all the reasons mentioned above. I would definitely recommend it and hope to be able to arrange another visit at this location in the future!

Exceptional Rental Property

  • 5 of 5

Three years ago we rented this beautiful condo for two months in an effort to escape the harsh New England winter. From that first wonderful stay it has become our yearly winter home away from home. If you are looking for a condo in San Diego that is perfect in every way then this is it! The downtown location is superb. Although there is an assigned parking space in a private garage under the building, you can leave your car at home. Located steps away is the Green Line trolley which can connect you to pretty much anywhere you want to go in addition to a wonderful bus system that can fine tune your destination. If you happen to be over 60, the cost for a monthly transit pass (unlimited use of all buses and trolleys) is only $18.00 (plus one time only fee of $2.00 to purchase transit card). The Gas Lamp district, located only a block away, affords all the dining and entertainment options you could possibly want along with fun shops and a movie theater. One might be concerned that with it's proximity to the trolley and Gas lamp the condo could be noisy. I assure you it isn't! Our winter stays have included both Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day celebrations (major parties) in the Gas Lamp and we have never heard any noise from within the condo. Located just a short walk away is a Ralph's grocery store and CVS is nearby as well. It is even a quick trip to Costco via the bus! Ready for a day of fun and adventure? Walk out the door, hop on the trolley and/or bus and soon you'll be at Sea World, beautiful Pacific Beach, Old Town, Coronado, La Jolla and the list goes on and on. Not to be missed is beautiful Balboa Park (bus 7 or 215!) home to the famous San Diego zoo. Don't miss the zoo but make sure you plan to spend another day or so at Balboa Park itself. It is a gem. After a long fun-filled day, returning to this condo is blissful. It is beautifully and tastefully decorated and has everything in the way of dishes, pots/pans, glasses, etc. that you could ever need. It is the best equipped rental in which we have ever stayed. No review of this wonderful spot would be complete without a comment about the owner. From our initial contact three years ago to the present time, he has been exceptional. When we first considered renting this place I had several questions. All my inquiries were answered promptly and he offered many excellent suggestions. He makes you feel like you are dealing with a friend as opposed to a landlord. I highly recommend this condo!

Excellent in every way!

  • 5 of 5

We have traveled extensively and have stayed at many VRBO properties. This condo is one of the best we have experienced. The location can't be beat. Just walk out the door and you will find numerous restaurants, bars, shops, Horton Plaza Mall, etc. With the San Diego transit trolley across the street, you can get to just about any destination, Fashion Valley Mall, the beach communities, Sea World, Balboa Park, etc.

The condo itself is very well equipped. We stayed for 5 months and had every kitchen utensil necessary for daily cooking. The master bedroom has a comfortable king size bed. The decor and design of the condo are excellent. This condo would work well for 2 couples as the bedrooms are at separate ends of the unit and each bedroom has its own tv and bathroom. Because the condo faces the inner courtyard, the unit is very quiet.

The owners are great hosts who go above and beyond to ensure you enjoy your stay and we would definitely stay at their lovely "home away from home" again!

Happy Vacationer

  • 5 of 5

This condo apartment is the nicest vacation rental that I have ever stayed in. It is very nicely furnished and very clean, the kitchen is well equipped with enough cooking implements to fix complete meals.

The location is just perfect and having a car is really not necessary. There is a large Ralph's grocery store within walking distance. Public transport (trolley) is across the street and you can take it to Little Italy for the Street Fair on Saturday mornings or all the way to Old Town for shopping and sight seeing. If you remembered your passport you can also take the Trolley all the way to Tijuana and that is another interesting place to visit. San Diego also has a wonderful Bus system and you can take the #3 bus up into the Hillcrest area where there are many great restaurants and shops.

In short this condo/apartment in San Diego is just lovely and you could not ask for anyplace nicer or better.

I hope that you enjoy your stay there as much as I did.

In the winter of 2013 we rented Robert's beautiful condo for 2 months and had a marvelous time. Because of the experience we had, we decided to rent it again for the same two months in 2014. As most of us know, you can't always re-create a memorable experience. Well, I am happy to report that our recent visit was just as wonderful as the first! As mentioned in my previous review we initially selected Robert's condo due to its perfect location. Step outside and you are seconds away (walking) from the famous Gas Lamp District. Close enough to join in all the fun and entertainment the area has to offer but far enough away not to be impacted but any noise once inside the condo. Look down the street and you'll see Petco Park, another easy walk and the Marina District across the street behind the Convention Center. Best of all the condo is located right on a trolley line affording you easy access to pretty much anywhere you'd like to go in the city. Because of the efficiency of the trolley and bus service in San Diego we don't even rent a car for the two months we stay (although there is a reserved parking spot in the secured garage beneath the condo building). There is a large supermarket about a five minute walk away and a World Market out your back door. Robert has thoughtfully supplied cloth shopping bags as well as the supermarket's (Ralph's) discount card for your use. The condo is exceptional. Beautifully appointed and tastefully decorated. There is a calmness inside that makes you feel like you are staying in the home of a friend rather than a rental property. We have never rented any property as fully stocked as Robert's. Dishes and cutlery are plentiful. There is stemware for any drink you could possible fashion as well as a blender, crock pot, toaster oven and a good supply of pots and pans. The bath towels and bed linens are beautiful. Unlike some rentals, everything matches and is top quality! There is nothing Robert has overlooked! As an added treat, a "goody basket" on the kitchen counter as well as a chilled bottle of champagne in the refrigerator welcomes you upon your arrival. Working with Robert is an absolute pleasure. I have had a wealth of questions that I peppered Robert with while contracting to rent his condo. All of my inquiries are replied to quickly, respectfully and with good humor! In conclusion, Robert's condo is a real gem in a gem of a city and my husband and I highly recommend it!!

If you're looking for sophistication and comfort, beautifully appointed and a location that can't be beat, this is the condo for you. When initially looking for a winter getaway in beautiful San Diego, our primary focus was location. We wanted to be in an area where we could avail ourselves to the convenience of public transportation as well as enjoy the many wonderful restaurants San Diego has to offer. As expected the location of Robert's condo was excellent but we were blown away when we entered the unit. It was absolutely stunning! The open concept living and dining areas are tastefully furnished complimented by some beautiful art work. Natural light provided by a large sliding door opening to a lovely private balcony bathes the living room. With no exception, this was best equipped rental we have EVER occupied! From crock pots to lobster pots, there was nothing Robert hadn't thought of! Dishes, cutlery, pots and pans were plentiful and there was stemware to hold any possible beverage you could imagine. On several occasions I e-mailed Robert with a variety of questions. He always responded promptly with detailed answers and helpful information. Could this little piece of San Diego perfection get any better? Believe it or not, the answer is yes! Gracing the kitchen counter when we entered was a huge "Welcome Basket" filled with all kinds of delectable goodies including an assortment of cookies, crackers and nuts. There was also a lovely keepsake photo album of Balboa Park nestled in the basket waiting to be filled with our memories. Chilling in the refrigerator was a bottle of champagne and two glasses! Regarding practical matters, there is a Ralph's Grocery Store about 3 blocks away (very easy walk). Robert has supplied the unit with cloth grocery bags as well as Ralph's discount card to make shopping even easier. There is also a small gym on site. As mentioned, the condo couldn't be in a better location. Located across from the Convention Center (but with plenty of space in between), there is easy access to the trolley connecting you to pretty much anywhere you'd want to go. Exciting 5th Ave is two streets away... close enough to join in the fun but far enough away that there is no noise impact in the condo. For anyone planning a getaway to San Diego you owe it to yourself to experience the enchantment of Robert's condo. You will not be disappointed!
