I am a broker with The Maine Real Estate Network and purchased my first rental in 1995. I have lived in Maine most of my life and enjoy the natural beauty, wildlife, laid back lifestyle, and healthy, friendly communities that thrives in Maine. Here I am on our prior 27' sailboat, Chrysoprase, in Casco Bay. We love to sail among the beautiful calendar islands, and you will love the coast too!
Heather purchased this house in 2006
This home is a short walk to the beach and quick drive to Portland's Old Port. The beach has unsurpassed views of Casco Bay and the Calendar Islands. Willard Beach is a nice sand beach wonderful for romantic walks, sunbathing and swimming. There is an excellent running and biking path along Shore Road to Fort Williams Park that is great any time of day. I have run the Beach to Beacon Road Race many times, which finishes up the road at Fort Williams Park. There are several other nice oceanside parks within walking distance and the locals are very friendly. I enjoy strolling along the beach at night, and walking to the bakery in the early morning. I have many friends who own boats at the local marinas. Boats are available to rent at Port Harbor Marine, a five minute drive. The Willard area is a charming oceanside community with beautiful ocean views and many things to do within a short walking or driving distance. Portland is very alive either day or night offering entertainment, shopping, city tours aboard the Olde Port Trolley, Duckboat, or Narrow Gauge Railroad. Summer festivals are abundant in Maine and include the Old Port Festival in June, Rockland Blues Festival in July and of course their are many fairs in the fall.
From this lovely home, you can hear the lighthouses and bouys gong in the distance, especially at night. When you walk to the beach, you will see beautiful Windjammers, ferries, lobster and pleasure boats navigating in and out of the harbor. The salt air is refreshing, and as you walk or ride bike your bike, take in the bold ocean views along many of the neighboring streets. Some of the most reknown restaurants and bakeries in the Portland area are within walking distance from the house, and the Old Port is a short three mile distance away. The backyard is private and great for entertaining. The home is on two stories, enabling guests to comfortably enjoy their stay and relax. There is minimal street traffic as the road is a dead end with a grove of trees at the bottom. It is very childsafe.
We enjoyed our vacation in this quiet road, despite the occasional sound of aircraft overhead . Nearby Willard beach is lovely . Local amenities are close too and Portland and other interesting places are easily accessible, The house is comfortable and has all that is needed. There were ,however , only three of us staying in it. Iwould recommend this property to family and friends.
Stayed here (6 people) for a small vacation and loved it. Near beach (10 min walk), delicious bakery (5 min walk), ice cream place. Not a brand new house but lots of room, clean and "homey", with a nice backyard (great for cook outs). Really affordable price well worth the privacy one would not get from a hotel. Owner is very reasonable and promptly responds to any messages. We would stay here again.
My family and I rented this property for a week so we could spend some time at the beach, visiting local friends, and in Portland enjoying the restaurants and cultural offerings. It was a perfect fit for our needs. Clean, spacious, comfortable, affordable, and close to everything. I would rent it again in a heartbeat.
I stayed at Heather's house with a group of family and friends. We enjoyed our stay. The place was as advertised and worked out well for us. Nice backyard, walking distance to a number of nice establishments - a great bakery, ice cream shop, etc. I would definitely stay here again.
The house was very spacious and fit our needs perfectly. Great neighborhood within walking distance to the beach. Can't beat the price, it was cheaper then staying in a hotel but with much more space. Heather was also very easy to work with and was always very responsive to emails and calls. Thanks again!
Our family had a great vacation in this cute house. Heather, the owner, was very available to answer any questions we had about the house or the area. It was very clean inside and very comfortable. The backyard was big and well maintained and the kids had a great time, so did I, playing whiffle ball in the backyard. The location is perfect: quiet neighborhood, quick walk to Scraps Bakery, Scoops ice cream and Willard Beach. We would highly recommend this house. However, dont try to book for the next 4th of July, because I already booked it for next year. Thanks Heather !
Home is .4 miles to beautiful Willard Beach, 1 mile of sand and swimming, snack bar, showers, walking paths and more. It is an easy five minute walk, or one minute bike ride. Also within walking distance is Fort Williams State Park, the SMCC ballfield and gardens, Scratch Bakery, Scoops Ice Cream, David's Restaurant, Portland Players Theatre, Willard Square Playground and much more. If you like the ocean and spending time near the seaside, and want comfortable living quarters, this vacation rental is for you.
