Gorgeous Graduation Celebration
Three generations converged on Kirksville to celebrate a graduation. Lost Branch Lodge was an ideal location, providing private sleeping rooms with bathrooms, open kitchen and play space, volleyball in the grass, whiffle ball in the back yard, fire pit for s'mores and stories, and a pond/lake for canoeing, fishing and splashing! We could flex and play throughout this May weekend, and celebrate in grand fashion! Will definitely come back!
So much fun for our family "girls" weekend. Nine of us came on this trip. We had plenty of room to do crafts, play cards and enjoy each others' company. The lodge is clean and well stocked. Each bedroom having it's own bath and the extra refrigerator is especially nice. The owners are easy to work with. We enjoyed it so much we have already booked a return trip.
A Great location close to home with everything we need.
We've used Lost Branch Lodge for our Leadership Retreat for about 5 years. It was nice to see how they've "freshened up" the decor. They replaced the living room furniture and added additional seating, which we really appreciated. Everything we need is there for a day retreat. I hope to get to use it for a family gathering one of these days. There are certainly enough bedrooms to accommodate a large reunion, and it would be especially fun in the summer with the pond and firepit available.
Great retreat venue!
Our organization has used this retreat location for years and it never gets old or too cramped! Easy check-in & check-out process and very quiet. Nice kitchen area and living room. The wifi had trouble handling our 35+ devices but that's to be expected considering that amount and the venue's location in the countryside.
Perfect stay for our group!
A group of 15 of us rented the lodge for 3 nights...our only regret is we didn't stay longer!
What a perfect space for us (all female aged 21-38). Everyone had their own bed (very comfortable) and two people to a bathroom (each has a stall shower, toilet, and sink with limited counter space so just plan ahead). The kitchen was great with plenty of seating and extra chairs if needed. The living room seated all of us comfortably with 1-2 on the floor or we brought in a couple of our bag chairs. We didn't use the fireplace but only for lack of time!
There is a game room with a second refrigerator/freezer with a pool table, bags set, and more! The lack of a television was just perfect. Wifi worked well. Cell reception was hit-and-miss (I'm on Verizon and had no trouble). If you forgot anything, be sure to stop in Kirksville before you get to the lodge. Not only won't you want to leave, there's nothing in Brashear to help you! :)
The real gem of this place is the outdoor space. The pond and dock were awesome - the canoe was used throughout every day. Tons of yard space for all kinds of games. One of the earlier reviews references a gas grill - just to clarify it is indeed charcoal. There are two fire pits - one near the lodge and a bigger one closer to the pond. Fishing gear also supplied and we found worms aplenty in the timber.
For those of you cooking for your big group, as of October 2017, the kitchen has a full refrigerator with freezer, oven and range, dishwasher, and microwave. In the pantry you'll find a crock pot, electric griddle (oversized - we got 12 pieces of french toast on the identical one we brought with us), 2 electric skillets, 2 coffee pots, a toaster, roasting sticks, lighter fluid and lighters, etc. At the time of our stay there was also saran wrap and baggies, garbage bags, and a few spices. Pans include cookie sheets and cake pans and a full set of pots and pans. There are tons of plates and bowls in various sizes. Plenty of silverware. I suppose there could be a few more coffee mugs, but we tend to be pretty over-caffeinated. They've really thought of everything, from a first-aid drawer to games and blankets.
For Gerald: the outlet to the right of the stove wasn't working when we were there (the test/reset button wouldn't do it) - so we ran an extension cord from behind the stove so we could utilize the counter space. Easy fix and there were plenty of extension cords!
We won't hesitate to return to Lost Branch Lodge!!
We spent the weekend here and had a great time. The place was well kept with well stocked cupboards and even a charcoal grill and anything you needed to grill. Has 2 refrigerators and a big chest freezer for all your food. The pond is very clean with a swimming area and big dock. Had a great time swimming and also hanging out around the campfire. Would recommend it to anyone.
