About Steve Belden

As a retired contractor I fell in love with and bought the property several years ago. So close to all the attractions, but very far away from the traffic and congestion. This is a natural bay which affords clam digging, mussel picking as well as a much needed rest stop for several migrating bird species.

The Carriage house style was built to afford and lofty view. The simple design was chosen to be easy to live with. Simple, but functional . The property rental allows us to fund our retirement activities as well as let others enjoy Maine the way it really is.

Steve Belden purchased this house in 2007

Why Steve Belden chose Acadia

Private location that is near Maine's best activities and parks. A true natural setting with abundant wildlife. A great place for well behaved pets and children. Our 1/2 miles driveway is quiet and away from roads, traffic and the mass crowds. The surrounding towns here have lots of restaurants, lobster pounds and activities.

If you seek a very crowded town packed with traffic gridlock and people you should choose Bar Harbor. Our guests have many times been to the area before and realize they can have the best of both worlds here.

What makes this house unique

Most are nature lovers seeking peace and quiet in harmony with nature. Close to lots of activities. Close to a small municipal airport for those who fly to the area. Within 5 miles of the hub terminal for the Island Explorer bus system that will take you anywhere in the park or local area ( free )!

Private, quiet and clean!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 including our 12 year old son and 15 year old daughter loved our stay at this house. The layout of the house between bedrooms is nice, our daughter took the downstairs bedroom and enjoyed having her own bathroom and space. Don't let the lack of a/c scare you away. Once we opened up all the windows on the 2nd floor, it was very comfortable, even in low 80 degree temperatures. Our son liked trudging down to the water in the afternoons. While he wore his Keens, rain boots would have been easier to wash all the mud out when the tide was low. We had an issue with the stove and the owner, Steve was super quick to respond and was able to replace the oven during our stay. Also in terms of location and driving distance, anywhere you stay near Acadia will still require somewhat of a drive if you don't want to be in the hustle of Bar Harbor area. There is a Walmart 10 minutes away as well as an IGA on your way in/out of Acadia and a local grocery store in Bar Harbor. Acadia is FABULOUS! We hiked, biked and kayaked. Don't miss driving to Schoodic Point-it is much more impressive than Thunder Hole! After waiting 15 minutes at Thunder Hole we later found out that it only really booms after a storm. Schoodic Point is worth the drive and being in Lamoine makes it even closer than those staying near Bar Harbor.

Great house for our family!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house for our family of 5 including 3 grown daughters. The 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and a big kitchen provided everything we needed for a great stay. We loved hanging out on the deck and drinking coffee in the morning and watching the stars at night. The views were great. We were definitely off the beaten path away from the hustle and bustle - we never saw another person even when we walked along the beach, but we were close enough to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, which we visited each day. The only recommendation I would have would be to have curtains in the upstairs bedroom. The sun rose at 4:45 and it was really light in the room. Aside for that minor issue, our stay was great and I would highly recommend this house!

A nice family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the location along the water & away from the busyness. A great location to Acadia Park & Bar Harbor for shopping & sight seeing. The house was laid out nicely & had everything we needed for our stay. The hardwood floors and leather style couch was a huge plus for me being a germaphobe. We saw deer, hare, & turkey on our stay everyday. Our only complaint would be the restriction on cooking shellfish. Having an outdoor burner would be a great addition. We would defiantly stay again.

Immaculate home, beautiful views and peaceful relaxation.

  • 4 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our first time in Maine, and the property was off the beaten path and very private. We saw deer practically every day. It was an easy jumping off point to see all the sights in Acadia. We were tired out one night, and instead of cooking or going out we ordered pizza from the general store in Lemoine, which was excellent. Would have given it five stars except the upstairs beds should probably be updated (firmer).
